I booked a table in the window for my wife and in-laws last night (we were visiting from Michigan)…read moreand were greeted very pleasantly by the maitre d' who showed us to our table. The very friendly waitress took our drinks and starter order promptly, amazing food and even better level of service I've not experienced anywhere before, even in the USA. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to locals and visitors alike!!

Perfect in every way. When you walk in, you're greeted by the sweetest of wait staff here…read more Garlic-filled olives on the table with an ample serving of different types of breads (some with salt, some just plain, some crisp bread) as you wait. We had the house wine and a gin and tonic for our drinks, and they were all quite satisfactory. The house salads are delicious: an assortment of greens (mesclun, iceberg) and raw yellow + red peppers and sliced carrots and red onions, all cupped into a long cucumber. It was so creative/inventive! They made a special linguine with tomato sauce and mushrooms for me, it was so delicious, as the pasta was served al dente and the sauce was so good it needed nothing else. Also had a taste of the fish dish with a saffron and raisin cream sauce. It sounds gross but it was absolutely ridiculous. If I come back, I would order that and suggest you do, too. Indulged and got some chocolate and pistachio gelato to finish, which was served in a chocolate cookie bowl. Had an espresso as well, perfect sidekick to end the meal. They also offered us an iced lemon drink at the end to cleanse our palettes. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area or folks who are visiting. Its so nice that the owner comes around to ask you how everything is, and all the waiters are spouting out Italian phrases. It's worth every penny! Enjoy...

This Turkish restaurant is a real gem, twinkling away brightly in the centre of Eastbourne, no more…read morethan a five minute walk from the seafront. As the restaurant only has 40 covers, it is essential that you book on Friday and Saturday evenings especially, otherwise you won't get in! A beautifully-designed restaurant in non-fussy but distinctly Turkish style, the piece-de-resistance has to be the open grill and original Turkish oven, where you can see your food being freshly prepared and cooked before you. Watching them kneading and preparing the bread mixture is rather hypnotic, you need to be careful you don't lose track of time. The menu is simple with a good range of choices for starter, main and dessert. The wine list is, again, simple but offers good choices - nothing too classy, just good-priced clean-tasting wines which will complement your chosen dishes perfectly. I don't think you will find fault with any dish that you choose - but if you haven't tried it before, try one of their guvec (Turkish stew) dishes. Ahhhh yummy!! If you have a special occasion, do let the owner know in advance. It is a family-run restaurant and you definitely get that warm, welcoming feel as you enter - no matter how busy, you'll never know that from the very high service standards. Be warned 'tho - you get "nibbles" while they are preparing your starters - so that, in itself, is always another starter on top of what is heading your way ... make sure you wear elasticated waistbands! Prices: very reasonable. For our most recent visit, for 3 people having starters, main course, 1 dessert and a bottle of wine to share plus water, we paid £60. Fantastic value for such a decent pile of food, beautifully presented.
