He had ordered MRIs which showed I had advanced stenosis resulting in daily pain and a poor quality of life. I had been suffering for many years following a motor vehicle accident and arthritic changes and I'd been receiving numerous epidurals and meds elsewhere but relief was never permanent and I felt this is no way to live. My visit and meeting Dr Blanco was life changing!! I felt music should have played in the background.. that's how much of a difference that made in my life. He told me about an implantable device that could control my pain and explained that there are many companies making it now. It's an AI- based spinal cord stimulator that blocks the pain signals to the brain. He explained it plus he gave me lots of literature to take home to read. I read it over and over, completely and drank in every word! I was ecstatic! This could be give me my life back! I set up an appointment for the mandatory "trial". The nurse who represents the manufacturer of the device, Terese, who is also the nicest, sweetest person I have come to know, has been there with me all the way! She comes to my appointments, she calls me every day and she's smart, she cares and she's never too busy to answer my questions. What a great partner to have by my side, well, besides my Dr Blanco! Anyway, I did the 5 day trial of the Nevro HFX iQ Implant and I had it removed this morning. It was a complete SUCCESS!!!! The pain I had been feeling for the past 35 years was almost non-existent over the last 5 days! I took a picture of my 2 heros!!! I think they should have halos!!!! They are my ANGELS!! (I was in the picture with them but came out terrible so i cut myself out! They are the superstars anyway!!!!) My next step is to see the neurosurgeon that Dr Blanco recommended who will perform the permanent implant surgery. Of course there will be a review! Let's all keep our fingers crossed! She did not empathize, apologize, or offer an explanation as to why Dr Esmaeli could not call me even after there was an initial clinical assessment & consult done in his office and before I sought care out of state. Instead, I was quoted office rules by Jessica S. So I suppose according to Miss Jessica's understanding of the medical care delivery system is that a surgeon's only responsibility is "to cut," but he's not required to speak to a client? I have worked alongside neurosurgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, and vascular surgeons who were more conscientious of complex medical cases and engaged in open conversations with patients to ensure the patients' needs were addressed appropriately and to ensure the best outcomes. I also owned 2 medical practices and I am well aware of business practices and office procedures. My NYC orthopedic surgeon spoke to me with respect, before surgery, in preop, and after my procedure. After my surgery in NY, I offered Miss Jessica the opportunity to correct my bad perception of her office's conduct and mishandling of my case, by having a face-to-face conversation with her. I told her that I would not write a review as long as she gave me an apology on behalf of her surgeon for what had occurred. She didn't even bat an eyelash but instead called me entitled, to my face. Now that I have written a review, she is doubling down on her initial response to me and is STILL calling me entitled in her rebuttal: "being a medical professional....( does not give one), leverage to demand special access or exceptions to office procedures," are her words. This is absolutely appalling and is another endeavor to disrespect me, disregard, and dismiss my health status. It is also an attempt to make my health concerns seem insignificant and trivial. Let's forget that I hold a doctorate, can make my own medical assessments and then evaluate the context of my argument. I asked for a simple phone call from the surgeon as to why my 2nd consult was abruptly canceled before I was forced to seek care out of state about an urgent medical issue. I never got that phone call. My review is about the unprofessional conduct and inappropriate treatment of a client by the staff of a medical practice because of out-of-network medical insurance. Her rebuttal is about defending her elusive and dismissive behavior. I wasn't dealing with a multi-specialty complex with 500 offices and doctors, I was dealing with a small medical office. If this wasn't about payment for services then what is this about? Please answer the question, Jessica. Jessica S should not be the custodian or gatekeeper for medical service access because she is insensitive and uninformed. Studies show rigid gatekeeping policies can hamper timely diagnosis and treatment, permit disease progression, and influence poorer health outcomes. Her lack of emotional intelligence and her need to be right are narcissistic and block any healthy attempt at a resolution. At this point, the only thing I can advise her is to receive etiquette training, to seek introspection, and to recalibrate her broken moral compass.

I've been coming for two months. Mary Stern is awesome. I look forward to my next visits (which is insane if you knew me). She is very smart and knows technics for the spine that very few therapists know (McKenzie method). She cares....and that is the best trait in a heath care professional. I made the stupid mistake of going to an MD now immediately as opposed to visiting an orthopedic. After being in severe pain for over a week I knew that I would have to visit an orthopedic. Dr. Gelb's office came highly recommended to me from a few friends. I finally set up an appointment and made it in fairly quickly. The gal that checked me in made it quick and painless. There wasn't as much paperwork to fill out as I had expected. Once checked in I enjoyed the comfortable chairs in the waiting room. Thankfully I didn't have to wait too long to see the Dr., which usually seems to always be the case and the reasoning of why I avoid the Dr. unless I'm 5' 11" in my grave. I knew that I was in good hands when I saw all of the photos of the professional athletes that had their treatments done here. That definitely helped put me at ease. I ended up having Dr. Woods whom is the foot and ankle specialist at this practice. He gave me a brief introduction on his background. After going through my X-rays from MD now, he then began his examination of my foot and ankle. After my diagnosis he informed me of the physical therapy regimen that would be necessary for my recovery. Dr. Woods also broke the bad news that I would have to wear a stupid boot for about 6 weeks :( I ended up purchasing the boot directly after my visit at their physical therapy office located next door. Naturally there were several follow up visits to check on my progress. Dr. Woods for the most part didn't keep me waiting for too long. There were a couple of occasions when it seemed like an eternity of waiting. The flip side to that was that the practice was busy and they take their time with the patients. All in all I had a great experience here and was happy with the level of care, and treatment, that I received from Dr. Woods and staff. If you're in need of seeing a orthopedic, I highly recommend Dr. Gelb's practice. You won't be disappointed.
