I set up AutoPay about two weeks before my first FPL bill was due, assuming everything was good to go. Unfortunately, AutoPay wasn't activated for that first bill, and I never received any payment reminder or overdue notice. As a result, I was charged a late fee, and the missed payment ended up hurting my credit score. When I contacted customer service, they weren't willing or able to help resolve the issue. This company has no humanity at all. My dad is a vets and has a heart monitor at home and his electric was due on July 22 and they shut his electrice off this morning. They have people who aint even from here in customer service and can barely understand what theyre saying. they put a supervisor otp, who is nasty and clearly needs to learn better customer service. They charge u for a "returned" fee when nothin was taken from your bank acct in the first place.. they set up autopay and put a random number of days they take the money and say u did it.. i just did it again and it generates a random number. This the only company I have issues with when it comes to autopay. All my bills are on autopay. With them, I have to manually pay before the autopay takes effect to avoid these same issues. they penalized me a while back the 1st time, then got nerve to charge 30$ when your bill aint even due yet. Recently experienced a short on the underground feed to my home. Was unable to get customer service so had to call 911. Fortunately, they responded to the fire department. Huge arcing short eventually fixed by pulling new line. Fast forward to today. Intermittent power and FPLs automated service says no problem... These guys need to be held accountable!!! read more

Genuinely one of the worst utility services in Pensacola. They are great when it comes to storm repair but it is almost impossible to contact them via phone. Their billing system sucks and often can't find your information when using the online self service or app so you're FORCED to call them and wait forever. I was transferred 6 times and hung up on while trying to pay a bill of $22. The agent I spoke to on the phone then became frustrated with me and acted as if it was my fault that their system didn't recognize my account number, social, or email that they SENT THE BILL TO. Recently our community has been undergoing the power lines going underground, which is great, but the process has been one that seems like a cluster. Forget the inconvenience of trucks everywhere, I get that, it is part of the process. However, when they came to our house unannounced and started drilling into our slate deck, not only did they crack the deck, but when they filled the holes they drilled with black asphalt and thought that was fine, then tried to clean the area where they drilled using my hose, they broke the $30 nozzle, dropped the hose and left the remnants. And wait, they also cut my water line as we are on well water, they then knocked on our house window asking us to come out and not one of the 7 spoke English and a few of them got mad we didn't speak Spanish. One even went on to light a cigarette in my wife's face like he was on a break. Oh, and by the way, I am just a renter, so the slate isn't mine to fix, but how they felt this was acceptable is beyond me. We don't have a choice in our electric company but I do have the choice to voice my displeasure in their work. HORRIBLE! I've owned a house in Miramar Beach since August 2021,and put it in the name of my LLC as I had planned to make it a vacation rental. I decided not to, and to make it my primary residence. I simply wanted to remove the LLC from my account, and oh my goodness what a nightmare it turned into. I've spent over 2 hours on the phone this morning (I have proof), was told I had to close my account saying they would consider it a "move out" even though it's only a name change, I was asked repeatedly for my social security number which I will never give to a total stranger, I don't care who they work for. I was then told I would have to upload my driver's license, which I tried repeatedly to do, even with reps trying to help, it wouldn't allow it, and I asked how else I could upload it, perhaps email, to be told NO that I was just out of luck. I was told if they did not receive my driver's license within a short period of time my power would be turned off! There was obviously a glitch on their website! All this because I simply wanted to change the name on my account! Your employees should not be asking for ANYONE'S social security number, this is how I had my identity stolen! Then I insisted on speaking with a manager and was told it would be at least 2 days before they would contact me, all the while risking having my power turned off! I've never been late on paying my bills!!! Make name changes easier FPL, you can do this! Why are you complicating things that should be simple??? ZERO stars! people are some crooks. had their service for a 11 months and the first 2 months of autopay returned when I had the funds to cover it several times over with no explanation as to why it was returned which then made my account ineligible for online payment via their app so I began using speed pay and have paid every other bill on time using it and now it's my last month of service and I have no way to pay the bill over the phone or via speed pay's website because of the only 2 returns I had back in January which I still have no explanation as to why they were returned when I'd used autopay from July to January without issue, I just suddenly get returned payments and late fees, and now I'm in the 12th month of service & I don't even have a way to pay my bill without going to a freakin Walmart or CVS locally in person? absolutely ridiculous and this is one of the most crooked tactics I've ever experienced to get an additional $30 out of someone, essentially forcing a late fee. The craziest part is I found a way to pay my bill on time without any assistance from FPL staff because my bank payments kept getting returned, and suddenly because of those 2 returns 5 months ago I can no longer use speedpay or any other option that's actually convenient. The people who make these decisions should be held accountable for their actions, no notice, letter, no email no phone call just a sudden denial of payment for absolutely no logical reason. Auto pay worked for 4-5 months, suddenly stopped, working not due to insufficient funding, then i use another option for payment, and suddenly it doesn't work. Gulf Power didn't even suck this bad. We had a massive power outage in the middle of the night before a holiday weekend. FPL immediately notified us of the failure and assembled a crew to hanndle the repairs. They were on site and handled numerous problems requiring new transformer and wirirng. They stayed on site and worked into the night until power was restored. We have had a partial outage of one line coming into our house that includes both the refrigerator and the AC, and the temperature outside is 94F. The outage has lasted more than six hours so we are going to have to throw out food. We prepare for storms and hurricanes because the overhead powerlines in our neighborhood always go down, and we lose power for days or weeks - once we were without power for an entire month.Today the estimated repair time has already passed, with no updates. Unfortunately it's a frequent occurrence for loosing power biweekly in the panhandle of Florida on nice sunny days with no bad weather. A trainer from a Midwest electric company said that FPL uses no common sense and is still in the dark ages. He added they are so undertrained that if a bad storm rolls in the cry for help from other electric companies to come help them. Dear Sir: Enclosed are bills relating to an unfortunate error your FP&L installers made when they recently switched from overhead to under-ground and the wrong cables were used to feed power from your meter to my panel. This mistake caused an on-and-off VOLTAGE IMBALANCE for several weeks and burnt indoor appliances as well as the main breaker outside at the house panel that sparks were visible. Since these cables were the wrong size I experienced outages that were reported numerous times daily by phone to the FP&L recovery number and eventually a complaint was posted on various online venues including YELP! because of the fire hazard plus the lies the technicians were telling me in person and by text messages. Five of your trucks have stopped at my house to look at the problem without any of them ever taking voltage measurements, claiming each time the problems lay inside my house. Eventually an independent electrician by the name of Amaldo Dabalsa discovered your flaw and repaired it on 03/01/2024 at a total cost of $975. His invoice (with phone nr) is enclosed. Because of the mendacity of the initial FP&L technicians, two weeks prior to this discovery, the entire amount of indoor breakers was replaced on 02/22/24 at an additional cost of $190.42 + $ 56.03 = $246.45. Copies of the store receipts are also available. Not counting broken appliances, the total loss I suffered amounts therefore to: $1,221.45. Please consider refunding this dollar amount as soon as possible so that I can replace my burnt-out microwave, ceiling fans, kitchen oven and countless light bulbs. FPL is a complete Monopoly total worst company to deal with when you have an issue with service. The street pole in front of my house was changed from wood to concrete the street light that I was paying for to for security lighting on my property was removed back in August because they changed the pole from wood to concrete. When I called in September to say I got a bill but no street light was added. I got a refund for the month of August which I had no service but then when no light was put up in November and I'm still getting billed I called back and they said oh well we just now put a ticket your original ticket was suspended and put on hold. So they suspended the service call and put it on hold but did not suspend or put on hold my billing. Now that I call back because I have two months of outstanding bills that are late they're telling me tough luck either pay it or will cancel the service and send you the collections. I had a very horrible experience with Florida power. I bought a new townhome and the power was not on the date I was guaranteed it would be. I was told the power could be on at anytime between the early morning or at 11:59pm. The woman I spoke to was rude about it and told me to wait only for it to not even come on. Had some major electrical work and a new power box installed by an electrician recently. The work was done over three sessions . Overall, the electrician performed the work in a timely manner. For the final work, FPL (permit) had to shut off the power for the electrician to complete the work. FPL was supposed to return around 2 pm Friday, March 14 to reconnect power (per the electrician). FPL never showed up to reconnect the power. The electrician blamed FPL for not connecting the service and left it up to me, the customer to follow up with FPL. I asked the electrician customer rep why they moved forward with the work without having clarity from FPL regarding the reconnection? I would think that a major electrical company should how to plan and schedule a project with FPL. For clarity, i was never told by the electrician that the restoration of my power was dependent on FPL. I have had several home improvement projects requiring inspection and permits. The inspectors showed up upon the agreed date and time. In a span of 8 hrs, i have spoken with 4 different customer service agents at FPL, not including the technician. The agents have all been programmed to say virtually the same message. FPL has added you to their service list, but can't provide a day or time when the technicians will be able to restore power. Also, the FPL permitting office is closed until Monday; they are responsible for scheduling the support for the permitting projects. It has been over 24 hrs; no sign of FPL. This was a simple task that they failed at miserably. Also forgot to mention I'm the caregiver for an elderly parent with severe medical issues; some meds require refrigeration. The dropped line was across the other line for a whole. I run a rather large COA in Venice and today we had a large boom which knocked out power to approximately 60 homes. I tried contacting FPL to report but since I don't live here I don't have an account number or a phone number attached to property. Totally ridiculous I couldn't even report this. Finally an FPL truck (#658500) what a total ahole. If you are this grumpy stay home you do realize we pay your salary. I stopped him after chasing him down to ask if he was here about power outage.
