My son and I sat outside but waited about an hour the hosts were really nice from what I recall and her makeup was super cute and different I recall giving her a compliment about it because it was purple and it was adorable. Anyways back to the food my son ate his pasta so thats safe to say that it's Child Approved since I have such a hard time finding something he loves he's a inner foodie too like me hereditary of course. We had the Caesar Salad which was delicious I would alter how much dressing or salt there was but I'll do that on the side next time. The garlic cheese bread was phenomenal we both loved it. Lastly both pasta's that I recall were perfect and cannot wait to return hopefully with a reservation ahead of time to skip the wait. Overall service was amazing and I see why people keep coming back

Overall, this was a solid 4-star experience with really good food and great service. The only…read moredownside was we had a reservation and still waited about 45 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, which was pretty frustrating. Thankfully, we grabbed some wine while we waited, so that definitely helped the time go by a little faster. The ambiance was really cute with moody lighting that gave the restaurant a cozy vibe. For starters, we ordered the mozzarella sticks, cheesy bread, Caesar salad, meatballs and ricotta, and a buffalo wing special they were offering. The wings were delicious. We even tried ordering a second round, but they had already sold out. At first they also told us they were out of mozzarella sticks, but later came back and said they found one last order available if we still wanted it. I've never really experienced a restaurant running out of a few basic menu items that early in the evening, so that was a little odd. For entrees, we had the chicken parmesan, crab pasta, milanese, and the alla vodka pasta. Everything was solid except the alla vodka. Personally, I wouldn't order that one again because the flavor reminded me a little too much of Chef Boyardee. Even with the wait and a few menu hiccups, I'd still give this place another try because the service was genuinely good. The manager came by and introduced himself, which I appreciated, and our server Esma was super sweet and attentive throughout the night. Next time I'd probably book an earlier reservation and see if the seating experience goes a little smoother.

My sister and I came in without reservations around 8pm and they sat us inside on the counter after 10 minutes of waiting. They were pretty full for table dining. We ordered: Steak Tartare (4/5) - Bread was perfectly oiled & crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside. The tonnato was very umami and made the dish but the steak itself was alright. Spicy Pomodoro (3.5/5) - This didn't hit as hard for me; I wished it was more spicy and I didn't taste any truffle. Pasta itself was perfectly al dente. Sweet Corn Agnolotti (5/5) - This was delish! Make sure to get equal parts of the pasta, sauce, corn, and crème fraiche (like a light sour cream) to get that flavor explosion. Creme was a little sour, corn was sweet, and the agnolotti was salty; perfect bite fr. My only negative is that this dish was too small for $28 :(. Blood Orange Pavlova (4/5) - A truly layered dessert because if you ate the sorbet by itself, it would be too sour but otherwise, another flavor explosion. The pavlova was thick and you really have to jam your spoon in to break the pieces apart. Service was friendly and fast! Overall, I'd come back!

The ambiance was so welcoming and festive for the holiday with hearts and roses scattered throughout the restaurant. Compari's is a cute little hidden gem of an Italian restaurant that more people should know about. Elver and Paris were so sweet and attentive. We started with the zucchini and mushrooms as an appetizer that came out piping hot with ranch dipping sauce. The zucchini and mushrooms were cooked perfectly and stayed in tacked while having a crispy outer coat. For Valentine's Day they have a set menu for two people from Friday to Sunday for dinner and lunch service. It's a great deal! We got the house salad, heart shaped lobster ravioli, lady and the tramp spaghetti with a giant meatball and the cheesecake. I almost forgot the garlic bread, we had to have two servings of the bread to soak up all the sauce! The portions were generous and the ravioli were stuffed with lobster! You can tell the food is made in house and with a lot of love. The pasta was delicious and the meatball was so tender and juicy. For the dessert we even got homemade chocolate covered strawberries with our cheesecake. It was a very special treat to end a wonderful meal -- I was stuffed! I can't wait to come back and try their lunch specials or pizzas! You definitely have to try it!

Nice touch. Full bar. DRINKS! Amazing drinks. Got a fair buzz. The bean there done that (their version of the famous espresso martini!) delicious and woke me up. Had some family pop in on me out of nowhere!…read more Like, literally nowhere. I mean from New Orleans with absolutely no heads up whatsoever! Guess what they wanted as soon as they touched down? You got it! Sorrento's Italian Market here in Culver City! Now supposedly over the weekend they're going to make up for their surprise and lack of common courtesy by taking me to some nice restaurant apparently! I'll believe it when I see it. Settled on some hard salami and the sheer smell that emanates from the market. You've heard of or better yet even witnessed the smell that emanates from Pirates of the Caribbean? Well, Sorrento's market has its own unforgettable smell, and it usually winds up in a net gain of about 5 to 10 lb for your waistline. So other than some hard salami, I was sure to get the you know what out of here quickly! But do come by folks! Come from near and come from afar. My family just came from New Orleans (which happens to be the 1st city-yeah even before New York...that saw Sicilians specifically bring their great cuisine to this land) and the first thing they wanted was some hard salami from Sorrento's 2,000 miles away! Lol The spirit of Sorrento's market lives on through current owner Albert Vera Jr, who continues to do his father, mother, and the city of Culver City proud. It's not Culver City if there's not a Vera somewhere, somehow.

I'm an East Coast kid, raised north of Boston, with an Italian grandfather who blasted Sinatra and the Rat Pack from his Cadillac Eldorado. Homemade meatballs and chicken parmigiana were staples in our home, so I like to think I know Italian food, especially Italian subs. I love a good Italian sub with extra hots (red cherry pepper relish). I'm on a quest to find the best Italian sub in LA, so I've been trying out some of the classic spots. I finally made it to Sorrento Italian Market. The staff was friendly and helpful, directing me to the sub counter. A kind, middle-aged woman assisted me, explaining the menu had both hot and cold options. I was looking for an Italian sub, but the cold Italian Combination with mustard and mayo wasn't what I expected (we use "hots," a cherry pepper relish, on the East Coast). I was a bit confused, as she thought I was asking about a hot sub. They don't use hots here, which is understandable. Instead, I asked about popular hot subs and was recommended the meatball sub, which many online reviewers also praised. The meatballs were excessively salty, and I generally enjoy salty foods! They were also quite small, almost like cocktail meatballs. The texture also reminded me of canned Chef Boyardee meatballs. While the bread was a bit stale, it became more palatable after being soaked in the marinara sauce. I also wanted to try the pastries. Of course, I couldn't visit an Italian deli without trying a cannoli. I ordered the traditional, regular-sized one and was very disappointed. It tasted like pure sugar; I couldn't even taste the ricotta. It just tasted like frosting, and they overdid the powdered sugar.I nearly had a sugar rush, and I'm not even diabetic! It tasted almost like it was made from Costco. I also ordered bombolone, one with vanilla custard and one with Nutella filling. Unfortunately, they tasted a bit stale on the outside, and I didn't end up eating them. I hesitate to write a negative review for a mom-and-pop spot, but the food was unfortunately unsatisfactory on several levels. I'm not comfortable giving just one star because the staff was friendly and had good banter. I also really enjoy the atmosphere of this old-fashioned Italian deli, so I'm giving them two stars instead.
