I needed flowers delivered last minute to my mother on her birthday (whoops). I got on the internet and searched for a florist that was in the vicinity of my mothers. Floral Explosion was second on the list. The first place I called could not do same day delivery. The woman who answered the phone was very friendly. She took down all necessary information. I was browsing their website and told her the name of the arrangement I wanted. She explained the arrangement might not look exactly like the image on the website but it would be close. I told her the flowers needed to arrive before 1p (because of moms work schedule). I also asked if she could send me a picture of the arrangement before it was delivered. I called at 9:33a. I received a picture of the arrangement at 10:23a. The flowers were delivered before 12p. My mom text me at 11:59a to say she loved the flowers. normally i love this place, i love their flowers so i wanted to get my mom some for mother's day, i went in person and put in an order for a $35 dollar bunch with sunflowers, liatris, and some roses. The day of mother's day it was already 2:00pm and my flowers still haven't arrived for an 11 minute drive, i called the place and they said that it's on the way and the driver has all of them, i waited and around 4:00pm i called multiple times asking for them and they tried to get in touch with the driver but never did, long story short my flowers were either given to the wrong person or just straight up stolen. They tried to compensate me with roses and i was just upset about not having my original order, i get that it was mother's day but i put my order in on friday and i asked for it to be delivered on a sunday, and waited until 6:00pm for them to arrive and didn't even get what i originally asked for. i know i still got flowers but i feel like i should be refunded or compensate for at least delivery, my original flowers never delivered. This was just very upsetting, they didn't even tell me what flowers they were gonna give me, and when these flowers delivered, it took 20 mins for me to receive them because the driver never rang the bell or knocked the door or even called! they were sitting outside like nothing. I always encourage my friends and family to shop local. This was the closest shop to a relative, that delivers. I received an arrangement on Mother's Day from this shop and here's my experience. The arrangement was okay, in the sense it wasn't a hodgepodge of different colors and not made up of one of every flower that you can imagine. It was in a tasteful color palette of light pinks purples and lavender flowers appropriate for Mother's Day. One star for that. Zero stars for presentation, look like a toddler wrapped it. Even the handwritten card look like it was written by two different people. The flowers nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary; a handful roses, a Iily or two and the standard daisies, carnations and mums. Those are all pretty hardy flowers that should last you at least a week. To my dismay the roses were dead the very next day. The entire arrangement found its way to my garage can by midweek. I found their e-mail on the delivery ticket. I reach out to the florist via e-mail the next day, when the roses died. I decided e-mail was the best way to reach out so I can provide them with photos of the dead flowers. Well at least tried because the e-mail address was no good. I looked them up online and found a different e-mail on their website. Gave that e-mail a shot...nope...no good! Idk what business in this day and age can't operate an active e-mail address. Even my senior citizen, mother can access hers. Isn't customer communication crucial for a small business? Moving on, I called the shop midweek and explained That I've been trying to reach out for the past two days via e-mail about an issue. The person on the other end gave absolutely no apology or explanation for their lack of email issues . I spoke with a man named Steven, basically sounded disinterested, stating he doesn't know the specifics of my order. I asked if they could give the sender some sort of credit or refund, he said it would only be a small percentage compared to what I would get if he were to send me a new arrangement. I wasn't gonna argue and said ok. He asked for all my information and said he would put in for a new delivery tomorrow. That was over a week ago. No one ever called, no replacement flowers ever came. No credit was ever given, no one cared to communicate. ZERO stars for customer service. I know flowers are a luxury and the money spent wasn't cheap. I would look elsewhere if you're look for quality, taste and customer care. After reading some of the reviews, sounds to me like they only take care of their "friends" in the neighborhood. Based on all the other reviewers starting with off with "I've known the owner for years" or "all my family has used this florist for so long". I even found one reviewer posted a pic from another flower shop review and post it as work this shop created I'm not naming no names, Leon! #sorrynotsorry What kinda shenanigans is going on here? Disappointing flower shop. I ordered flowers for Mother's Day and 5 out of 6 roses in the arrangement where already dead when delivered. This flower shop is an excellent example of throwing money down the drain! Not even 24hrs and 80% of the arrangement was literally dead. You don't need to read my review unless you want to. Just look at the photos to fully experience dream (internet photo) v. reality (actual basket). The "ribbon wrapped handled basket with lovely purple butterflies" was the perfect gift to send my niece and her husband on the occasion of the birth of their baby Violet. Alas, the basket that was delivered was an assault to the eyes. The color scheme alone was enough to make you want to run and hide. In addition to the poor quality of the basket itself, the heavy handed approach used in the assembly was quite a disappointment. I mean, look at the bow. I can make better bows than that for my Christmas presents, and I certainly don't think of myself as a professional. They look as if they had been sitting in the shop for weeks. The arrangement reeked! Upon investigating, the bottom of the vase was filled with brown moldy water and smelled like dirty swamp water. This was definitely unprofessional and I would NEVER recommend this florist to anyone. I understand Mother's Day is a busy time of the year but don't partner up with a large company like TeleFlora if you're inadequately prepared to handle orders in a professional and dignified way. Despite the bad stuff I herd about this place I decided to give them a try for myself. I ask for David to make my bouquets and I explain exactly what I want and he delivers just that. He definitely is a flower expert and knows what he's doing. I wish floral explosion carried more varieties of flower instead of the basics. Other business owners should take example on how to run a successful business from Anton. It's not always about making money and having outrageous prices for beautiful things. First of all Anton worked with me on doing all my floral arrangements and bouquets for my wedding. When I didn't like the sample of the centerpiece he made sure he was able to give me something in my budget that I would love. He didn't fail at all. A big thank you to you and your team for the amazing work. Secondly my job had ordered a floral arrangement from here for boss day and they sent us the wrong arrangement. We were all upset since we didn't get what we paid for and it was too late to replace it and get something else. When I called and explain that we were disappointed with the order, Anton apologize and then sent us something that same day as an apology that was even better than what we paid for. Even though we declined the replacement and accepted his apology. The point is, everyone/business makes mistakes it's how they handle it is what can make or break them. You can order online, but I went in person because I was ordering bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres for my Saturday, July 2nd, 2016 wedding so I wanted to make sure I liked and could trust each and every vendor I hired. I had visited a few florists before a friend recommended Floral Explosion. I wound up visiting their shop twice. I spoke with a man named Anton both times. The first time I went, I didn't call ahead and Anton had two other customers but he was able to handle all of us quickly, professionally, and in the order we came. While I waited, I flipped through two photo albums filled with floral arrangements he had previously made so I could get an idea of his work--pretty standard (mostly rose or mixed flower bouquets). I ordered 10 boutonnieres, 4 corsages, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, petals for two flower girls, 1 bridal bouquet. I did centerpieces on my own to save money. I explained I wanted a bridal bouquet with purple flowers in cascade style silhouette, showed him three photo examples of what I wanted, cited specific flower types (orchids, callas, peonies, etc), and asked for a price estimate, which he did with no problem. He was patient throughout all my ramblings. I appreciate that Anton worked within my budget and was honest. In fact, he explained that peonies might not be in season so they could cost more. Since I was on a tight budget, I nixed the peonies altogether because he already agreed to other gorgeous flowers, such as orchids and calla lilies. He also suggested I have someone pick up to further cut down on delivery costs, which would've been pricey because I would've needed delivery to Manhattan. I wanted to shop around before I chose Floral Explosion and Anton was not mean about it. He did not pressure me to buy from him so I felt like I could trust him. In the end, considering service, quality of flowers, and price, I chose Floral Explosion. The second time I went, I had my deposit ready, and I called in advance to schedule an appointment (highly recommended) so this time, I was his only customer and got his undivided attention. Though it seems archaic, he still uses paper, not electronic system, so I worried he had lost my price estimate, but he shuffled through some papers and quickly pulled out my receipt. I gave him my deposit and was in and out in 5 minutes, tops. Fast and easy, just the way I like it! My wedding day flowers were fresh and beautiful, just as I had hoped. Anton even gifted two small stems of calla lilies for my flower girl's hair. One minor detail though--there was glitter on my florals, which wasn't discussed at all. Luckily the glitter still looked fine so I didn't mind. *If* you don't want glitter, be clear and explain that you don't want glitter, even if it does not come up in conversation. I think another Yelp customer griped that she didn't have glitter on her florals, but honestly, if she wanted glitter, she should have said so and I'm sure Floral Explosion would've obliged. Floral Explosion seems to want to keep the customer happy. Anton is a wonderful and honest florist, will work with your budget, and do his best to give you what you want. He is a no nonsense guy and will get the job done. He has a huge variety of flowers and if you don't see it something, he can't get it for you.
