I just had my wedding last April 23, 2016. We booked Michael as our florist, first time we talked to him, he knew a lot about flowers and arrangements. He showed us pictures of his previous works and it's pretty. He suggested vendela roses (this is biggest white roses). He gives a quote at the end of the first meeting and he really helps a lot to keep you with in your budget. If you call him for any questions he responds right away. My review is late, very late in fact but necessary. My fiancee and I went to see Michael last year in preparation for our wedding. He works out of his condo. I knew exactly what i wanted and described it to him. He said what i wanted was tacky and proceeded to show me books of all the bouquets and arrangements he had put together over the years. All of which looked identical. I tried to be nice and said i really have a specific style in mind. Again he said my choice was gawdy. I had enough of his insults and simply said I'd consider hits suggestion. I have one suggestion for him, if a bride says she wants shit sprinkled with glitter, deliver it with a smile. I went down the street to an actual floral boutique and got EXACTLY what i wanted and the last thing it was, was tacky. Btw, money was not a factor. When I was looking for a wedding florist on the Internet, I happened to come across Floral Designs by Michael. Some of the words that popped out were "budget conscious" and various words saying how beautiful the flowers were. My decision to call him was sealed when I saw beautiful floral arrangements on his website that I did not see on other floral designer websites. I'm so glad I called him because I did receive beautiful flowers, and for a better price than the other florists I talked to offered! The unique arrangement with hydrangeas I saw on the website ended up being similar to what I chose. Later, I gave Michael a swatch of the plum color I wanted, and he called and texted me to see if I would be willing to switch out the original lighter purple flower for a dark purple lily he found that was closer to the color I wanted. I didn't expect Michael to keep the same price, especially because this flower change was semi-last minute, but as a bride-to-be, I was very happy that the flowers would be even better than originally planned! Michael was very communicative throughout the process, making sure that I was fine with everything, while helping me remain as budget conscious as I could be. Michael is a dream to work with first of all! When we first met with him, I knew right away I wanted to work with him. We had some ideas with a very tight budget, but Michael was so honest and accommodating. He worked with our budget with no problem. He was so prepared and professional. He knew our venue and already had suggestions of his own which we ended up loving even more. Like any bride, I was worried about everything, so I was worried we hadn't spent enough on flowers and that it would show by being too empty. I was really unhappy with the way most of the flowers for my wedding turned out. I had chosen to go with Michael's company due to great reviews and his warm attitude. I can not give less than two stars because my bridal bouquet turned out very nice. I will start with my bridesmaid bouquets... When they arrived they were falling apart and pins were sticking out and stabbing our fingers, the filer I had specifically asked NOT to use was used in all of the bouquets. My maid of honors bouquet was supposed to be a little different than the bridesmaids but it was exactly the same. All of the bouquets contained three flowers and the weird filler I asked not to use. My toss bouquet looked exactly like my bridesmaid bouquets only a different color. That threw me off, when I picked it up I thought I was accidentally throwing my bridesmaid bouquet. As for my center pieces those were okay, very small not much to them, but I provided my own vases that I made myself, and delivered them to Michael. All his company had to do was place flowers in them on the day of the wedding. The boutonnieres were another big disappointment. Most of them were made with white flowers... my colors were burgundy and dusty rose, no white in the wedding except my dress. The bags that were delivered to the venue appeared to be labeled wrong because the groom got a very plain boutonniere while another groomsmen had a fancier version. I paid for corsages to be made but none were made... My mother and grandmother pinned on boutonnieres! It was awful. I am not usually one to complain about these things, I am pretty laid back but this made me so sad seeing all this on the day of when Michael kept reassuring me that he was going to do everything perfect. I live in long beach so I traveled to his home to meet with him and again to deliver the vases I had made. The flowers were the one thing I was really concerned about and to my horror they tuned out pretty terrible... again except for my bridal bouquet that was nice. I advise whoever chooses to go with Michael make sure you write down the exact flowers and fillers you want. I could have made all these arrangement myself by going to the flower district in LA. I admit Michael's flowers were a hair cheaper than other companies but not much. I wish I would have paid a little extra to get exactly what I wanted. read more
