Definitely whenever someone mentions St Louis or anything that I associate with St Louis. It's my favorite place in the world. I think another reviewer recommended wearing closed toe-shoes, comfortable clothing that you can move in - preferably long pants - as long as they have good pockets, because you don't want to be carrying a purse or bag. This is important. If you have a fear of heights - the City Museum might make you forget that you have a fear of heights. Because it made me forget that I do. I was climbing everywhere. It's amazing. I know how to weld, and all the welds look great and are finished smoothly so you don't get scratched or snagged. Impressive! We went there once when our daughter was 6, and again when she was 21, and I can definitely say that I had a better time when she was older (even though, obviously, I was significantly older as well). Because it does seem a little not-safe if you have a little kid with you. But even then I had absolutely loved it. I live 8 hours away but would literally clear my schedule for the next couple days, anytime, if someone wanted me to go there with them. Just let me grab my sneakers and joggers and I'm ready!

Every square inch of this massive building (inside and out) is a playground for kids to explore, crawl, run, slide, jump, climb, you name it. I grew up coming here, and trips to the city museum stand out as some of my most fun days as a kid. I remember crawling through what seemed like miles of tunnels and having the time of my life. I can't wait to come back as an adult when my toddler is a little bit older. I'm not sure I'll fit in the tunnels anymore, but I'm certain if there is one place that is guaranteed to bring out the kid in you again, it's the city museum.

The tram ride up is one of the most unique experiences. It's weird but also a cool sensation where you're moving sideways and upward at the same time, around 3 mph. The ride down feels slightly faster for some reason. Each tram fits a maximum of 5 people (or 6 with a baby in lap), so it is a snug little pod. If you or someone in your group has claustrophobia, I wouldn't let it stop you. Some of my friends have mild claustrophobia and they were fine. The tour guides while you're waiting in line are enthusiastic and keep things fun. I appreciated them. Once you get to the top, you have about 8 to 10 minutes to take in the view through these little windows that kind of make you feel like you're looking out of a plane. The view of the river is nice and you can spot planes and ships from up there. While you're waiting for your time slot or even after, there's a really nice Missouri history museum section at the entrance worth browsing through. Don't skip the gift shop, it's worth a quick stop. The grounds under the arch are a full park, so it's a great excuse to just be outside and enjoy the space. Perfect for families, friends, or anyone who wants a fun and easy way to spend some time in the city.

My parents are not immigrants, but many of my friends' parents are and this felt pretty accurate. All I really know about each of them is where they came from, not what they did or how they spent their time. My parents are very white and love to give hugs and say they're proud of me or my friends. I mean they're paying for me to study film for Christ's sake. Anyway I don't understand how this is a national park, don't plan on visiting.

The artwork shows Geppetto, the well-known carpenter from the Pinocchio story, holding a hammer above the puppet's head. At first, it might look playful or cartoon-like, but the scene feels more complicated the longer you look. Is Geppetto angry, or is he about to bring Pinocchio to life? The puppet gazes up at him with a mix of trust and worry, adding to the tension. Otterness often uses simple, familiar characters to explore deeper ideas, and this piece is no different. It makes you think about the bond between a maker and what they create - who holds the power, who gets to decide, and how care and control can overlap. It also reflects the original Pinocchio story, with its themes of honesty, identity, and the desire to become real. Completed in 2001 and placed in Citygarden by the Gateway Foundation, the sculpture stands about eight and a half feet tall. Surrounded by other modern pieces, "Kindly Geppetto" stands out for the story it tells and the emotions it stirs. [Review 1173 of 2025 - 439 in Missouri - 24726 overall]

This bronze sculpture pays tribute to the famed cartoon carpenter geppetto from Pinocchio stories and film. Ill be honest and admit when me and my family stumbled upon this sculpture in august 2018 I did not make that connection. But the sculpture was very alluring and my kids was fired up to take a photo op with the sculpture. Overall very cool medium sized sculpture in a downtown Saint Louis area full of fun and cool sculptures. Located just a short walking distance from the famed gateway arch as well.
