The caption in the sidewalk reads, "Donald Baechler. Walking Figure. (2003-2004). Bronze. Edition 1 of 3. On Loan From Gateway Foundation." Online, "Walking Figure poses motionless in front of the Gateway Foundation building, stuck forever in walking stance but never gaining any ground. The sprightly form reminds the viewer of a child's drawing of a human, with the arms and legs sticking out awkwardly from a square-like torso. The childish face of the figure grins shyly but contentedly with closed eyes as it towers above the heads of passersby, striding purposefully toward some unknown end. It was $25.23 total for one ticket at the door, which is cheaper than buying online ahead of time ($20 ticket plus $8 fee plus tax). There was no line to get in which was surprising given we went at 11am on a weekend. The place was super cool! It reminded me a lot of Meow Wolf's Convergence Station in Denver with how crazy it was. There are more places for kids to climb around than adults, but we were still able to crawl through a lot of places. There was so much cool stuff to look at that there's no way you can do it all in one visit. We've already decided we want to come back to St. Louis just to go here again! I will say the attractions aren't terribly accessible to those with disabilities. There is a lot of climbing and not a lot of wheelchair accessibility. It's also loud and high-touch. There are plenty of bathrooms, and there is at least one water bottle fill station which I appreciated as a tourist. The gift shop is pricey but that's also to be expected. Parking in their lot is $15 plus tax (we paid $20 and got $2 back), other nearby lots are open but more expensive. If you're visiting St. Louis, you definitely need to go here! It truly is a blast for all ages and is the first true adult playground I've seen. It is so worth the price of admission!

They had a cute gift shop too for those of you who'd like to get a souvenir. If you plan on returning often, get their Gold Pass for free entry through December 2027 and discounts on parking, food, souvenirs, apparel, and more!

Free entry to everyone, with tickets to purchase to ride the tram to the top. There's a museum under the arch that we walked through but didn't really look at, we will probably spend more time there next time we visit. We hit up the gift shop to get a national parks passport and stamp, then went out to look at the arch up close. It's a pretty cool feat of engineering! The rest of the park is pretty basic, I feel like they could have done more with that space other than just filling it with grass. I'm glad we went here, moreso to say we did than anything else. It's cool to look at but really doesn't take more than 10 minutes to visit unless you do the museum underground or the tram to the top.

You can stand there looking at one section, turn your head, and find something completely different. It's like an outdoor art gallery, except the gallery is massive and the artists are out here making magic on a floodwall. It goes for literally miles! And here's another thing you must know. Paint Louis is an actual international graffiti festival held along the riverfront. Artists travel from all over to paint here, and the event has been around in various forms since the 1990s. The wall is recognized as the world's longest graffiti wall in Guinness World Records. I swear, every time I go down there, I wonder why we don't lean into this even more. Paint everything! Give artists more walls! Let the riverfront become one giant, ever changing outdoor art installation. St. Louis, we have some pretty extraordinary things hiding in plain sight. This is one of them.

The artwork shows Geppetto, the well-known carpenter from the Pinocchio story, holding a hammer above the puppet's head. At first, it might look playful or cartoon-like, but the scene feels more complicated the longer you look. Is Geppetto angry, or is he about to bring Pinocchio to life? The Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France or the Old Cathedral, it's also the oldest building in…read moredowntown St. Louis. Being this is the first Catholic parish west of the Mississippi. In the early years of the city a parcel of land was put aside. Services were conducted in structures that would be temporary. From 1831 to 1834 the Greek style permanent limestone building was constructed. During the revival of the waterfront in the 1930s, this structure survived. It was a church and could not be torn down. It sits in the shadow of the arch today. It became a landmark in 1971. The St Vincent De Paul a French charity organization founded in France in 1833 started its journey to aid individuals that are struggling first here in this church. The charity organization began its roots here in St Louis first in this church and it continues today in 1845. I can imagine if downtown was busy it'd be harder to find street parking but they did have paid lots with attendants so of course that'd be an option too.
