Flora is a fantastic and reasonably priced flower shop. I've used Flora multiple times before and couldn't have been happier with the results. My recent experience (one week ago) was walking in the evening and wanting a bouquet of flowers as a gift. I wanted to pay $40 + tax and the bouquet I got was much more than I expected - certainly a higher quality and many more flowers than other flower shops in the area. In 5-10 minutes, they were able to put together a beautiful and custom bouquet of flowers. One week later, the flowers I purchased are still as fresh as the day I got them and show little-to-no signs of wilting. The flowers were wonderful and perfect for the room and event. I was coming in from out of town to put on this event and had only seen a picture Suzanna sent me after I described what I was looking for over the phone. Flora is the best flower shop in Chicago for the following reasons: 1) They have very unique flowers as well as classic regular flowers 2) Even when I pick out the craziest looking flowers that probably shouldn't go in a bouquet together they find a way to make it look awesome. 3) The sell the coolest plants like ones that grow in moss floating in water or out of pieces of driftwood. 4) They sell craft cards and the best candles ("French Fig") All of these things = a 1-stop shop for a seemingly well thought out and personal present for your special someone. Every time I get my girlfriend something from here she loves it. Super bummed out. I bought flowers for my girlfriend on Valentines day (two days ago) and while the bouquet was very pretty and very pricey the flowers are already dying. They went right into water within 1 hour. Too bad! The shop has a great selection but they didn't least long. It appears from the other reviews they do lots of weddings and those flowers only need to stay alive for the one day versus a bouquet you would like to last at least 5-7 days read more

Suzanne and Gretchen were awesome to work with and did an outstanding job on all of the events!! They are wonderful people to work with - great taste and very helpful. I loved, loved, loved my bouquet ... and the bridesmaids, too! They did a gorgeous bed of hydrangeas for my seating card table that I can't find a picture of. I used Flora for wedding flower basics at my NYE wedding: bouquets, boutineers and corsages. I worked with Suzanna, who was very helpful despite me living out of state and had a good eye for flowers that matched my vision. She was positive, energetic and knowledgable, which was perfect since I am basically clueless on flowers. Unfortunately, I did notice a lack of attention to detail in the quotes she made up for me. She often had the wrong quantity or deposit amount that didn't reflect our conversations. And the white flowers in the bouquets were a bit wilted on the ends and barely lasted through the night. The boutineers were mostly green and didn't showcase a nice white flower as we discussed. However, the flowers were still overall very beautiful and creative. She added black pin accents in the middle of my white flowers to give it a more black and white NYE effect. Stunning, but I wish they used better quality flowers. Overall, Flora is an economical choice, but do pay attention to the details in your quotes and requests. Perhaps my experience would have improved if I researched the flowers I wanted more, and we set a clearer vision with each other. read more

I was recommended to Flora by two other brides who used them for their wedding, and I was not disappointed. I worked with Randy, who was so fun and creative. I'm not big on flowers so had no vision or ideas, except color, but Randy was able to work with me to find designs that perfectly suited me and my style. We chose Flora to do our wedding flowers for our wedding on 8/18/12. Chuck helped us every step of the way and was great to work with. Their prices were competitive with other area florists and they were very receptive to any last minute changes we needed to make. I recommend bringing in pictures of the 'vision' you have and they can build off of that. My only qualm was having to pay the consultation fee for my initial appointment to decide if I wanted to use them. The fee goes towards your final bill, so it's not a waste, but when you are interviewing florists you don't want to spend even more $ just to talk to someone. I understand they are busy though and don't want their time wasted! Regardless, I HIGHLY recommend Flora and would use them again for any other future events I need flowers for. I'm not sure who it was that helped me - I didn't catch her name, but she was a young brunette with glasses. I called about 45 minutes in advance in order to pick up a bouquet for my wife prior to valentine's day. She was friendly on the phone and I asked her to freestyle together a bouquet that was as un-valentine's-ey as possible (the wife hates red and pink and valentine's) with a 'spring' feel. When I arrived she already had the bouquet ready to go. To my untrained eyes, I figured they looked pretty good (I mean, what do I know). My wife, however, BAWLED for about twenty minutes when I presented her with the bouquet. Mind you, I bring home flowers for her ALL THE TIME. These were no tears of surprise. These were tears of 'OMFG FLOWERS'. She then spent the next forty minutes gushing about how pretty the thing was, all the while snapping picture after picture. Moral of the story: if you find yourself needing to score some points at home or make your significant other very very happy, swing by here. I know I will be. read more

Randy worked to educate me on the many flower varieties as my thumb couldn't be farther from a green color. Unlike other places he was willing to stick very close to my budget but still be confident I would get what I paid for. They boxed the flowers up very nicely for pick-up and they all lasted beautifully throughout the night. EXTREMELY disappointed in the prom flowers we received today. Our experience was great with Kate on the phone, earlier this week when we ordered flowers for prom. We asked for red ranunculus. When we picked up the wrist corsage and boutinere today, they looked more purple than red. Another gal, whose name I did not catch, offered to remake them to more of a true red. What you see is the updated corsage and boutinere. Here in lies the issue. Can you tell the difference? No. And to top it all off, one was $20 and the other $35. Truly disappointed. And when I went back to express my concern, the younger gal could have cared less. 'It's Mother's Day' was what she told me. That it usually takes us an hour to make them, was another comment. No apologies, no offer to adjust the cost, and her parting words: 'You don't have to shop here'. Wow, what a great lasting impression. Unfortunate that she didn't care. read more

Can I give 6 stars? Chuck was fantastic! I met with him to discuss flowers for our wedding. I brought in loads of pictures from magazines and the internet. I told him about the feeling I wanted to invoke with the flowers. He ran with it and created a look that was exactly what I wanted; it's like he's a mind reader. He did a mock-up of the centerpiece and I thought it was gorgeous. But when I saw all the flowers the day of the wedding (yesterday) I wanted to kiss him! They were even better than I expected. Randy was a pleasure to work with and had impeccable customer service throughout! Being that we were planning our Chicago wedding from DC, we were able to trust Randy and his professional judgment. I am knocking off one star, simply because I thought our reception centerpieces would be a bit more full. We had three julep cups and a variety of votive candles. I thought the julep cups would be brimming with flowers, but I noticed at our table one cup only had one flower in it. Being that the reception flowers were a bulk of our budget, I was a bit disappointed. I really liked my bouquet! It had accents of black which Randy suggested I use. The black added the perfect modern flair, which is exactly what I was looking for for our fall wedding. The ceremony flowers were by far our favorite. I don't know a lot about flowers, and only knew what color family (bright pinks against my black bridesmaids dresses) and overall theme we wanted for our wedding (simple, classic, sophisticated). Suzanna helped to pull together a lot of pictures and flowers to give an idea of what could fit within what I described. I was very happy with the outcome. Our tables and accents were beautiful, as were the bouquets and boutineers. We had a lot of compliments on them.
