In Yelp We Trust. We wanted new laminate to replace carpet in two rooms. Fostering rescue dogs and carpet is a bad combination. We called a flooring place that we've used before and were pleased with. But I decided to Yelp it for a second estimate, and found Floor IT. I was so impressed with the reviews, I knew this is where I was getting my second estimate. We visited the store, picked out some samples, and scheduled our estimate. We felt pretty good about the store and the guy we worked with. Mr. M stays home from work in the morning to wait. The estimate guy never shows up. Never calls. (This is the minus 1 star part.) We're livid. Under any other circumstances, we would scratch this company off our list immediately and irrevocably. But those Yelp reviews. We've read through them and really believe that this is a good company. There must be some explanation. We decide to give them another chance, feeling more than a little foolish for doing so. Like taking back a boyfriend who stood you up for an important dinner party with your boss. But he's so promising otherwise... I finally reach Steve, the owner. He doesn't make excuses, but does apologize. And convinces me that in spite of the screw up, they do have the right attitude, skills and ethics. I schedule the estimate and was impressed that Steve asked so many more detail oriented questions than the other flooring company. We get the estimate. It's much more detailed than my other estimate. Also it's 42% of the other estimate! That's some serious savings. We schedule the installation. Everything was roses from there. Steve and the installation sub-contractors arrived on time. They discussed more details with us, and accommodated all of our requests. Three workers got it done all in one long day, and cleaned up nicely after themselves. I'm happily enjoying our new floors. And our large savings. I believe in second chances. And in Yelp. read more

I just replaced all the carpet in my house with Floor It. Steve, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. On the day the installers were scheduled, I came home before they were done. I noticed my $2000 vacuum was sitting out and they had used it, our new interior paint job had nicks and scratches all over the place (a few here and there are understandable, but we found them in every single room all along the bottoms of the walls), and they had leaned our leather couch on it's side, against the leg of our dining room table which was also on its side. Well I had to leave, so I called Steve to let him know I wasn't very happy with all this. He said he was very surprised, and would contact the installers. I get home later that night after midnight. Here is what I see on top of what I already saw earlier - - Dining room table leg is broken and on the floor. No one notified us that it was broken. Just had to come home and find it. - Small spots of blood on the trim at the stairs. - Electrical outlet hanging off the wall, detached. - Scratches on my bedroom furniture from when they moved them. Well I was pretty furious. Steve ended up paying for touch-ups on the paint, and for the dining table to get fixed, but it was all so inconvenient, time-consuming, and stressful. And he was only able to take off $100 from our remaining balance, because he already had to pay for the other stuff. In the end, the carpet is in, and everything got fixed, which is why I rated them 2 stars. I just don't want other people to go with this place thinking they are perfect, because of all the 5 stars they got. Steve is very accommodating, but he is not the one installing. After reading all the wonderful reviews, I wanted to try them, at least get a quote to compare my other options. First time I called, spoke to Joe. He said, he will call me back after he found someone that could work with our schedule (nothing crazy, at work M-F 9-5). A week passed with no return call. I called a second time. Joes scheduled an appointment for Saturday morning at 8am. It is Tuesday afternoon and I have neither met Joe nor heard back on why they were a no-show at my appointment. Steve Stone owner of Floor It has the magic touch. After living in our condo for 18 years, it's time to move. Out comes the carpets and linoleum in the kitchen. But where are the best deals? Who can we trust? After searching within the span of 25 miles radius, we drove past Floor It. On a whim, we decided to walk in and see what the store has to offer. Right off bat, we were hooked with Steven's honesty, sincerity and integrity. We shared with him the 'big stores" quotes and said that if he could match that, we'd like to give him the business. Match it he did, plus more. We could never get the personal service, attention to detail, walking us through the steps from the big warehouses. Believe me, I tried... Our situation was rather different. We moved from a condo to a single family home. Had to rent out the condo. How do we coordinate it so everythng works out? Steve also worked around our work schedules... First, Steve changed carpets at the new house (only two bedrooms, the rest was hard wood floor and tile). Then he waited until we finished moving and we had TONS of stuff. He sent staff to come out and change all the carpets at the condo, it looked brand new! Flexibility, reassurrance and great understanding - is what gets him the five stars. We felt taken care of, all the way from our first meeting to the very last day - when everything was immaculately done. With Steve - he was like a tour guide, with a flashlight, showing use step of changing the carpets and linoleum, with a good price that we are really happy about. And yes, we've recommended Steve to friends and family. Should an occasion call for new carpets, guess who we will call, Steve, of course. Check him out, he does free house calls, will bring samples to your home, follow up and follow through with the work and is very quick and answering questions. Big stores, nope. Steve is amazing. Really great customer service. He helped my wife and I choose the most amazing carpet. We had an army of questions but he remained patient with us the whole way. He also has the best deals in town (if not the whole Bay Area). Steve seems to really know what he is talking about. We went to a few places asking for advice and help, but only Steven was the one that was able to really point out the advantages and disadvantages of the different carpets we were looking at. Like others, I found Floor It through Yelp and went to their store. It is located near a busy intersection around Tennsyon and Mission Boulevard. Upon arriving, I was greeted by Joe Garcia and told him what I was looking for (laminate flooring) and he walked me through their selections. He is a very energetic, genuinely honest guy and knows the industry well. There were four samples that I quite liked, but didn't know what they would look like in my Condo. He suggested I take them home and see for myself. Seeing is believing, right? A few months went by and I was finally ready to get the laminate flooring installed. Joe completely remembered me and asked what sample I had been leaning towards. From there, we agreed on both the final price and a day on which they could start. He stated it might be upwards of two and a half days. However, they started on a Thursday Morning and were done by the next evening. I came home and the two guys were just finishing up and it looked phenomenal. My place carpet was well worn and I needed to do something. This blew any expectations I had out of the water. My only issue was that after the crew left, I realized they had left quite a bit of dust from all the flooring. This was a bit irksome, but I cleaned it and made note of this to Joe. He was very apologetic and offered them to come back and out and clean their mess, but I had already taken care of it. In the spirit of customer service, he deducted an amount from the invoice (in lieu of a cleaning service). I would highly recommend Floor It for your flooring needs. One of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! I needed to replace a piece of my carpet that was chewed up by my roommate's puppy but couldn't find a matching color scheme at Home Depot. I decided to try Floor It about 30 min before closing and was greeted by the friendliest man. Not only did he examine the carpet sample I brought in, but he checked the inventory for old pieces of carpet that matched the sample I brought in. Apparently, Floor It contracts with many apartments in the area so he knew exactly what carpet I needed. To top it off, when I asked him how much a foot of the carpet would cost, he told me that I could have it for free because it was an older model just sitting in the back. I had a really bad install and poor customer service experience with Empire, so went looking on Google for another floor installation company. Found Floor It, and since they were local decided to give them a call. Steve came to give me an estimate within 30 min. of my call. The quote was way less than Empire, and I got the same flooring I had wanted from Empire; as well as got it installed weeks sooner. The installers were great, on time, worked clean and carefully and did an awesome job on my new floor. Steve dropped by to make sure things were going well, and I really appreciated the special attention to great customer service which is so hard to find these days. Floor IT! - Beautiful kitchen floor installed by Floor IT! - Flooring Near Me - Hayward, California

This should have been 4.5 stars but Yelp wouldn't let me rate that way. Had my master bedroom carpet and closet carpet replaced. Joe came over and did the measuring. Went to the store in Mission and looked at samples. Spoke to Steve who understood that price is most certainly a factor and he gave me a good price, Had gotten a total of 4 estimates, FLOOR IT! had the best price on a Shaw carpet. Signed the go ahead agreement with Steve and agreed on the installation date which was 3 business days away, since stock had to come in from Southern California. Friday came, the installer arrived. He was quick, polite and he vacuumed after. Joe came during installation and told me that somehow, the measurement was off, and there wasn't enough carpet for the closet . Oh no! But, he had spoken to his supplier and was assured that the rest of the carpet would come in on Tuesday. Joe called on Tuesday to say that the carpet wasn't loaded on the truck , but his supplier would personally drive it up to him so we agreed on a Wednesday. Wednesday came, new installer came, again a respectful and quick installer. However, the color was just a tinge off when compared to the original carpet installed. Steve explained later that even when carpets are from the same manufacturer, same model, when the carpets are from different dye batches, the color sometimes would be a little off. For me, that piece is installed in the closet, so isn't really something to go crazy about. Now if it was elsewhere like in the center of the main bedroom, I would have objected, and I'm sure Joe and Steve would have made it right. And Marvelous Steve, to make up for the delay and the measurement mishap, gave me more discount. So 2 things I learned, First, always measure 2x. Second, FLOOR IT really means it when they say they want to do the best job for their customers. They lost 1 star for a mistake but they gained .5 stars back for very good customer service read more

Needed new carpets for a rental condo before new renters could move in. I ended up renting it faster than anticipated. After driving by and seeing his place we decided to give him a call. I called Friday afternoon. Came in Sat and picked out my carpet. Measured Sunday afternoon and it was installed beautifully Tuesday. Can you imagine the big guys moving this fast? I am the one you want to hear about. The installers came at 9am and at 10:30pm , when it was all done, the refridge was dropped and make 3 gashes in the vinyl floor. We didn't want seams which was why we picked vinyl. Patching it was not an option since it was a heavy walkway. Steve replaced the floor and the same installers did it all again, still paying attention to all detail, the Second time. It turned out wonderful. All the time, from the very beginning, Steve, the owner said as a customer I had to be happy. That he would make sure. I moved into a new house in hayward hills and two story house. My dog couldn't walk up staircase because it was hard floor which made very slippery with his nails. I called Floor It to put carpet on stairs and they responded very quick and came out gave an estimate and within a week my dog was able to run upstairs and down stairs. Another reputable contactor we worked with on a remodel project referred Steve from Floor IT! and we're very glad we went with him. He had the best pricing hands down...and believe me, my husband got carpet obsessed and shopped every major carpet store including the big box stores and home improvement stores in a 30 mile radius! You should have seen the crappy products that Home Depot and Lowes had compared to the products at Floor IT! Even with Home Depot and Lowe's "Free Installation" specials, Steve still beat those prices...and for the money the quality and feel of the carpet we got beat the Home Depot and Lowe's garbage many times over. We also shopped local, high-end carpet shops and again, Steve's inventory rivaled there's. Steve's service was very personal but no pressure. My husband was floored was Steve said "Don't tell me the prices you got so far, I want to beat them without even knowing," and beat our lowest quote he did! He sold us a very cushy, high quality carpet with a top of the line pad but gave us all the options-didn't just push us into the most expensive product. Install was quick, clean, and done by very courteous people. Steve's showroom was very simple and a bit of a drive for us, but totally worth it. Had the entire flooring replaced as part of our home makeover. Joe came out to measure right when he said he would and provided a written quote within a week. We did our homework and had 3 other quotes to compare. Floor IT! was right in our budget range, had the carpeting and laminate we liked, and a flexible schedule. The demo/removal of our existing tile and hardwood was much more involved than we expected but Floor IT's crew did a great job - and fast too. Five stars all the way. From the first time I walked through the doors it was a great experience. Joe was very helpful in getting us familiar with the different carpets to suit our needs and even had samples of different colors mailed to us from Shaw once we decided on a certain model. The whole process was easy right from the get go. The communication, knowledge of products, professionalism and price were all top notch. We selected a nice Shaw carpet that is being installed today. The installers are very meticulous and the owner, Steve, has been out to check on the progress twice today and made sure I was comfortable through the installation. WOW, if only potential customers were able to count on truthful reviews!!! Reading the five posted reviews is like watching the Presidential debates; lies and deception. Our experience with Floor It was a nightmare and, I would NEVER recommend that anyone use Floor It. Steve comes across as a kind & genuine businessman but, the proof is in the workers and the work; or lack of; in our case, LACK OF. Steve represents that his crews are top notch yet, he hires off the street and the workers have no knowledge of the work which they have been hired to perform. AND, even more disturbing, he claims to have "Master" craftsman but, this too is a total misrepresentation. Tile, hardwood, whatever; the workers were unprofessional, unable to communicate (due to total language barriers), untrained, NO SHOWS/NO CALLS (and as though most people aren't hip to the game of excuses and, have nothing better to do than wait around) etc, etc, etc. Oh and heaven forbid you watch the workers work; they think they can cry and say you are over-directing - they forget the most important thing "IT IS YOUR HOUSE".... It is true that Steve has lower pricing but, "You get what you pay for" in the long run. What a shame. Example #1: After two attempts at installing tile in our SMALL kitchen, we had to have EVERYTHING removed (down to the sub-floor) and, we had start over by hiring someone else. Example #2: Hardwood floor installation: Steve quoted high grade ply underlayment to be installed under the hardwood flooring yet, he deceitfully installed cheap exterior plywood. Also, the hardwood floors have areas where the hardwood buckles - what the heck is that? Don't even know who the installer is; if I did, I would yelp his business too. The most disgusting issue is that the homeowner is stuck with the bad workmanship. Wonder who the other reviews are really about? read more

Joe was wonderful to work with from start to finish. I called for a carpet estimate at my home in October and he arrived on time and with several quality samples to choose from teaching me about carpeting and style throughout our visit. The quality and pricing was much better than 2 previous quotes that I had received. I am thouroughly satisfied with the value I received for my money and the job was done in just a few days after the initial bid. Joe kept me informed at every step along the way and was very professional and timely in his follow up. He even took some left over remnants I had in my garage from the previous carpet off my hands promising me it wouldn't have to go into a garbage dump landfill. OK - so I took a risk. I wanted to get laminate flooring installed in my home, I knew what brand I wanted and I was looking for good installers. I went through all the yelp reviews and had 3 installers come and look at the space. There were certain things that I was adamant about; not wanting any moldings or trims if it can be helped. Of the 3 installers that came to my house, one of them was the 'zippy' kinds who just wanted to be done with the job in the least amount of time and simply put quarter rounds throughout the house to hide [imperfections] expansion gaps. The other seemed very knowledeable and thorough, but his prices were through the roof. Still, he was our only hope. The third didn't even bother to give us a quote. Finally, thanks to you Yelpers, I found FloorIt! Most of the reviews I saw were for carpeting, but I decided to go ahead and call them anyway. Steve Stone emailed me before he came in asking what kind of flooring I was interested in, color/texture preferences, etc, got a few floor samples with him to show me and he was so thorough and asked such detailed questions, we were floored! He understood what we wanted, explained how it could be done and gave us a lot of options to work through. His quote was even lower than 'Mr Zippy'. Then to top it all, he even matched the online price for the flooring material! His installers were also excellent. They did meticulous work, paid a lot of attention to detail, cleaned up after themselves, were very polite and mild mannered. Steve was always very responsive over email. We're very happy with the end result, although it did take a bit longer than originally anticipated. I would rather it took longer and turn out right than hurried and messy.
