The took exactly the length of time estimated to complete the job. They showed up each morning at 8am with a crew of 3-5 daily and worked diligently for at least 8 hrs per day. Each day they cleaned up and left a very clean work area. Within just 5 days, they pulled up existing floors and replaced with new floors. My husband and I first went to a flooring store in Fremont (one of the "name" chains that advertises on TV). The employee was extremely nice and helpful, but she informed us that the owner "only installs big jobs." (We'd told her that two of our three bathrooms are very small, and the third isn't that big, either.) So, they could sell us flooring but not install it. We said, ok, no problem--please give us your list of recommended installers. To our surprise, they didn't have even one to recommend. As helpful as the employee had been (in terms of showing us samples and discussing different flooring types), I thought, "Why do we want to give our business to a place where the owner can't even be bothered to recommend an installer?" So, I went to Yelp, read the reviews of Liberty Floor Covering, and I'm so glad I did. I stopped by their showroom in Hayward, and Roger, the owner, was extremely friendly and welcoming. I told him right off the bat that this would not be a big job, but the way he treated me, you would have thought we wanted all of our house's flooring re-done. He told me that he, or Liberty's co-owner, insist on taking all measurements themselves before even giving an estimate, to ensure that they're done correctly. He also let me take a large book of floor samples home and said he would just pick it up later. (I'd already decided we'd almost certainly go with Liberty, just based on Roger's courtesy and professionalism.) All I can say is...WOW. We haven't even installed the new hardware yet, or repainted, and our bathrooms look almost brand-new. Pedro, the installer who did the job, obviously knows what he is doing and takes a lot of pride in his work. Roger had mentioned to me that other flooring businesses are always trying to hire his installers, and I don't blame them. Pedro, and I'm sure his other employees too, does stellar work. One of our bathrooms turned out to have some damage to the underlying floor, and Pedro took the extra time to do all repairs and make it right. No complaints here--we are grateful he put in the extra time and effort. I don't think you're going to get this caliber of work done by Lowe's or Home Depot. Nice people but I couldn't figure out how they come up with that price. I came across this yelp reviews and took a chance. I figured can't possibly be any worse. Mr. Kim responded immediately and we made an appt for the next day. He had Manuel came to see what needed to be done and he said no problem. He even said he was available the next day which was crazy, because we still needed to move our stuff out of the rooms. Mr. Kim came back with such a reasonable price for the job. Before they came we moved what we can, left the big items like beds, sofa, piano, shelving and futon. They said no problem. The day of work Manuel came with another worker, they took off their shoes and right to work. He had estimated 4 hours and sure enough he was done around 4 hours. Mind you we moved 90% of the stuff from the carpeting. I am so glad to have found them. I hope they continue to be in business, if I need any carpeting job I'll definitely call them back.

I bought a house earlier this year and wanted to do some improvements before moving in. I had four…read morebedrooms where I wanted to replace the carpet with some luxury vinyl plank. The rest of our house already had some laminate wood and tile flooring which I wanted to keep. I was looking for flooring that would match the color of the laminate wood floors of our hallway and living room. Sal-Hai was recommended by a friend for flooring services. I reached out via Yelp and got a response from the owner, JP, pretty quickly. He came to San Mateo from Hayward to take a look around our house and then came back another day to bring over many samples to color match our floors. I found that to be more efficient than me going back and forth to stores like Floor and Decor and Home Depot to try and find a match myself. JP found a sample that was very close to our existing flooring so we went with that. It only took about four days for our flooring project to be finished. JP had two other workers assisting him. They ripped out all our carpet and put the flooring and baseboard in. Our master bedroom had some sloping in the floor so JP worked to level it out before putting the new flooring on top. I impressed by the speed at which our project was completed. It's been a few months and we are thoroughly enjoying our new floors! The flooring seems to be holding up well. I did notice a very minor bouncy area in our master bedroom where the floor was supposed to be leveled and told JP about it after we moved in. However I didn't get a response after I requested him to look at it. I decided we can live with it and it doesn't seem to be adversely affecting the function of our floor. The only slight con I have to mention is the logistics of scheduling our project. I had to postpone our floor installation due to delays with some other house projects (permits and inspection scheduling were at peak delays during the pandemic). I had to make many calls and send multiple emails and texts to JP before we could reschedule our project. I did appreciate that he was able to squeeze in our project in between some big commercial ones he had on his calendar. Overall I will still go back to Sal-Hai if I need future flooring services and am happy to refer him to friends! I thought the quality of work is pretty good and his rates are very reasonable for the Bay Area.
