The spa itself is very nice and relaxing. It follows all covid regulations so that's a plus! My massage however was only 40 minutes (if that) when I paid for 50. The therapist seemed very rushed & did not focus on the areas I asked for. Additionally didn't evaluation my level of desired pressure. At the end I was left me with a cold towel wrapped around my head... I really wanted to love this place. However, my significant other enjoyed the massage. read more

I had an awesome experience here. Daniel gave the best massage I've ever had in my life!!! He was so kind and attentive. It was in the outdoor cabana which was so nice and relaxing read more

I'm not one for reviews but felt it was important to share my experience with Float Spa. My boyfriend and I were visiting Santa Barbara for our anniversary last weekend. I planned a couple of surprises for him including his first massage. We were scheduled for a couples massage on Saturday morning. Unfortunately as we left our hotel for the spa our car alerted us that all of our tires were low so it was dangerous for us to drive and we headed straight to the nearest auto repair. I called the spa to let them know of our issue and that we weren't able to make our appointment. I asked if they had availability later in the day or could we move our appointment to Sunday. After a brief hold, we were told they were fully booked for the day. And if we moved our appointment to Sunday we would be charged a cancellation fee for Saturday and then pay for our massages again on Sunday. The cancellation fee is the full cost of the massages. So we would be paying for our massages twice. Otherwise, they will be charging us the cancellation fee for Saturday which was $280. We took the hit and didn't rebook. This was a huge let down for our trip as it was a special moment I had planned for our anniversary weekend. How disappointing that a business can't be more flexible. I understand they still needed to recoup the cost of the massages on Saturday but to not be willing to move our appointment to Sunday isn't if they had availability. read more

Had a great prenatal massage at Float. It was relaxing and a gentle massage. For the "Mellow Mama" massage you do lie on your side for most of it and then a part has the table angled. I didn't realize that they would gently touch my stomach to lotion it, so something to note if that feels uncomfortable to you! Overall very relaxing. read more

I just had a wonderful signature massage from Erin at Float. I have been relaxed and feeling so good all day since the massage. Erin loosened up my arthritic shoulders and helped my knees too. This was a terrific experience. Float is clean and elegant. I really enjoyed sitting by the fire both before and after my massage . The garden is very serene as well. Deanna F. read more

Float is an amazing experience. This was my second visit and I have already scheduled my third visit. I had the most amazing 80 minute signature massage with Rickk. He asked me if there were certain areas to concentrate, others to avoid. He was extremely attentive and professional. It's the best massage I've ever had.... and will continue to have Rickk work on my injured shoulder. I can't wait to return..... read more

Tanya was amazing. I went in with back pain and I was pain free by the time I left. I am so thankful and will be back!!

I am updating my review to add a star as I did hear back from the owner regarding the recent change in prices. I was refunded the $45 additional that I spent after the price increase. Customer service goes a long way in my book. Thank you for reaching out and showing that you care. read more

Came here from out of town with a couple friends and we had a great time. 5/5 to Maria for my massage and Tatiana for my facial - I get those services often and they were some of the best I've had so I highly recommend them. But overall, 4 star experience as I could hear most of the talking that happened at the front desk & hallway from my treatment room and I thought the relaxation area was a plain. read more

The pictures are not representative of this spa. The rooms are poorly appointed, there is no ambiance and the outdoor area is dusty and dirty. The massage was jerky and she used cold lotion that was shocking every time she applied it. read more

David, David, David. I'm repeating his time so you take the hint and book with him ASAP. I just finished a massage, one of the best massages in my life by David. He's spectacular and his fingers are like magic, he communicates, makes sure you feel comfortable, and is a fantastic masseuse. Then I went for a body polish with Amy who was just so lovely. I want to give her massages a try but I don't know if I'll be able to now that I know David exists. Bravo to Float for a beautiful morning of treatments. I will be back when I am in SB and be sure to tell all my friends!! read more

My daughter and I had facials by Elisha and we both enjoyed them. I would highly recommend this spa. Very relaxing!

What a lovely space. All the employees were so helpful and courteous. I really appreciated their accommodation for my needs and will definitely schedule again. I left feeling light and refreshed. Thank you Erin and Natalie! read more

Float Luxury Spa is a relaxation gem right in the center of beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. There is a city parking lot right across the street which is convenient and the building that the spa is in has a charming curb appeal. My husband gifted me a facial and massage and it was such a treat. Upon arriving, I was welcomed by the receptionist and shown to the locker room which had my super comfortable robe and slippers ready. The amenities were well appointed. I was then lead to the the waiting lounge area which was peaceful and cozy--loved the floating chandelier! Enjoyed the refreshing spa water! My massage and facial were lovely. The technicians asked me questions regarding comfort and products, but otherwise were quiet and let me just relax. I had some tight muscles and asked for more pressure and the adjustment was made immediately and appropriately. After my treatments, I was invited to stay and lounge in the garden area. Unfortunately, I did not have enough "relaxation time" left in my day to enjoy their gorgeous back space, but that just means I will have to go back. Hoping to plan a girl's day there in the very near future. Thanks Float! read more

Went here with my friends and family for my friend Birthday, it was a great choice, love the area and the Spa. One thing I didn't like is that the woman's bathroom only had one bathroom stall to accommodate us and that the inside relaxation room was pretty small, it got a bit crowed on the day that we went. I choose to have the hot stone massage, it was the best because I had a great massage therapist. The workers and massage therapist where so very nice and catered to the things we needed, after the massage we relaxed upstairs by the fire place loved the room. the whole experience was very relaxing as I hoped it would be, I will recommend to other friends read more

I've been to Float a couple times. Both times I did the 50-minute signature facial ("The Works") and loved the whole experience. Great place to go to relax, refresh, and pamper yourself! I used the Axxess pass for my first visit and a 15%-off birthday coupon for my first and second visit, respectively, which helped make it more affordable. read more

It's located downtown in a very small building across from Marshall's. The pictures on the website don't reflect what it truly looks like. It's small. The outside needs some tidying up. The "pool" is empty and full of leaves and not really accessible. The ladies restroom is downstairs. The men's restroom was upstairs. No robes, no usable lockers, no usable changing rooms, no showers. It didn't really have the feeling or look of a luxury spa. It was clean. The lounge area was tiny in my opinion. There were six of us in it at once and it felt like we were uncomfortably close. Again, it felt less than luxurious to me with what seemed to be wicker patio furniture used for seating and about 4 tea cups with some tea out. The massage room I was led to was used for something else besides massages too. It was very un-spa like in my opinion. The table was a massage table like you can buy on Amazon (I have one exactly like it in my home) and is not electric-powered like high end spas have. The lighting in the room was not dimmable so it was rather light, and a bit noisy as it was facing a parking lot. The room seemed rather cold and almost medical like. The massage was fine. I really wanted a Swedish massage but received something I've not had previously. The oil was cold. The gal used her elbows and her forearms to basically roll up and down different areas. It was not the most pleasant for me. I'm used to Swedish with long, flowing movements. It seems like the elbow/forearm roll was the style because the person I went with also had a similar experience from a different massage therapist. The massage time was also short. They did compensate this by giving me a discount which was the right thing to do. Kudos to them for doing that. I do want to note that the staff were all very friendly even if they weren't sure of what to do, they were very nice about it and very helpful if they did. I'm doing my best to be as objective as possible. I tried to set my expectations based on the website and other reviews. I'm also sharing the things I'd want to know to help me make a better informed decision. I'm giving it 3-stars because it was just an average spa for me. - neither truly good nor truly bad just meh. There is not one thing that makes it stand out except it's price...it's very expensive. If you end up going, I hope you enjoy! read more

Me and my girlfriend got a couples massage here and it was so relaxing and exactly what we needed. The full body massage was the best that we've ever had and the facials that that we got left us feeling so refreshed and beautiful. It was a little out of our price range but worth every penny! read more

Location and parking are convenient if you're staying off State Street. The building and back patio is quant but the poor review is because of the couples massage we received at 11am on Saturday morning. We are well traveled and have had some bad massages but this takes the cake. We wanted to float on outta there!! Cost $295 for an couples 80 minute massage. Both technicians were terrible. I can't believe they've completed there required hours--yep, that bad. The woman kept her shoes off and her smelly feet overpowered the scented lotion. I basically had an 80 minute lotion application. She'd pause randomly for prolonged periods of time. Like a minute pause. Like she was trying to figure out what next. She must had pushed her elbow into my back for three minutes straight at one point, I almost laughed. I wish I did. I think she was floating more than I was. Her favorite move was holding my earlobes which she did four times. The guy was talking to himself about my tense spots during the massage, i asked for silence on my customer survey! His only move was to jab his knuckles deep into random spots for minutes. I will be bruised. It was ridiculous. How about when he turned me on my stomach and exposed my leg only to adjust the sheets ion my buttcrack. Seriously. I said I needed upper back neck and shoulders. He focused on mid back and butt. Creepin! He also needed to apply deodorant. I do not need to whiff your pitts when I'm trying to relax. Float, we will not. read more

This is a very rare negative review for me: I purchased a full day spa from Float. I had an absolutely terrible experience. I am a local Goleta resident, and my wife and I have used a bunch of similar services with other companies such as the spa at Bacara resort. Usually its awesome. Unfortunately, the staff we dealt with at float were so down right rude that it made me sick to my stomach. Recommendation: Stay Away. Bad Karma all round! read more

The deep tissue massage was great, but I was disappointed by a number of things at the float: and wouldn't recommend this place. 1) the lounge was very cute but no hot water and no cups. I had to ask, then waited for 10 minutes and by the time they arrived, my therapist arrived. Fail! 2) massage therapist wasn't checking regarding the pressure. As I found out later that the deep tissue was extra, it would have been appropriate to ask. 3) lastly, I wasn't happy to find out they charge extra for different pressure strength. I purposely called ahead of time to inquire on the services and the receptionist told me the massage price, and didn't notify what costs extra. I don't appreciate surprises on the final bill. read more

We are members of Burke Williams, but in town on a getaway weekend. 1. Waiting room furniture was dirty. Need to clean the white chairs. My wife's chair had what looked like pubes on it. Arm rest were dirty from excessive use. 2. There was no "spa" i.e steam, sauna ect . ( prices are too high without this) 3. Massage therapist was wearing a watch with a ticking hand. It was hard to relax and get in the flow with a constant ticking in my ear. 4. There were guest in the hallway talking very loud and laughing. There should be an usher, or a sign on the wall that say be quiet ect. 5. My massage was really weak. It definitely wasn't a massage, it was more like a rub. 6. The therapist were nice, and front desk was nice, that's the reason for 2 and not 1 stars. read more

Float is just the best. I never leave reviews, but the staff here are so cool. I have been getting my eyebrows down here for years but I decided to treat myself after a tough quarter at school and get a massage. I was slightly nervous because i hold a lot of tension in my shoulders and i hate when people comment on it. But Tawnya was my masseuse and she was the kindest woman. I could tell that she really cared about creating healing/good massage experiences. She also always checked in with me to make sure that certain areas weren't painful/towels weren't too hot/etc. This massage was also a gift from my grandma but after i was done i realized i completely forgot to bring the gift card. The lady at the front desk was super awesome about it and ended up looking it up for me so i didn't have to pay out of pocket. Another great experience, and I will definitely be back! read more

I really loved ___________: - the robes. - the cushy flip flops. - the New Age music because it wasn't the overly sappy cheesy kind. - the way it smelled inside the building because it made me feel relaxed as soon as I walked in. - the silence of the immediate area because it allowed me to collect myself after climbing over people at the Coach Factory Store down the street. - the decor, especially their hanging bubble light fixture/sculpture. - the way their waiting room was built like a living room to make me feel at home, complete with a fireplace. - the picture book of waves. The Decadent Package is a combo of both massage and facial. The facial is customized to fit your needs, whether it's hyper-pigmentation, acne, dry skin, etc. Amber asked thorough questions and inspected my skin to give me the best possible option to address my derm issues. She recommended "The Works" which is a cleansing facial that uses an enzyme peel, extraction (OUCH), and this electric zapper that sounds a lot scarier than it really is. I think it was called "high frequency" treatment or something, and it's supposed to jump start cell turnover, promote blood circulation and eliminate toxins and bacteria that cause acne. It stung a lot but if it hurts, means it's working, right? After the torture of extractions and being lightly electrocuted, the relaxing part came. If you haven't had the chance to experience a massage on TWO DIFFERENT parts of your body at the same time (one was mashing my arm while Amber, my facialist, was working on my back) YOU MUST TRY. It was so awesomely decadent that I almost felt like a spoiled hedonist. Nothing this pleasurable can be moral... This spa is pricey, but Float had a lot of amenities that my favorite spa in LA didn't have. I'll shell out $$ for the added comfort, thankyouverymuch. read more

Float totally deserves 5 stars! I was a bit skeptical about going to a fancy schmancy spa because my first experience in San Francisco wasn't all that great, but I just went with the whole spa idea for my friend's bachelorette party hoping it would be ok at the very least. I sure was impressed by the end of it, and I would absolutely love to come back if I'm ever in Santa Barbara again. Before getting into your robes and slippers, the receptionist has you fill out your information and preferences. You can choose what kind of music you want to listen to, how much conversation you want from your masseuse, and what kind of scent you want. If you're unsure which scent you want, they have testers in the front to help you decide. This makes the experience a little more personalized to suit you, which I never got at the other spa I went to. My favorite part of this spa visit was that the massage was exceptional! The pressure that my masseuse applied was perfect for me, and the masseuse herself was so friendly! Because the entire bridal party made appointments for massages, the bride to be had a free treatment. Lucky girl! She had a wrap and was in HEAVEN. The spa itself is a beautiful place from the lounge to the garden, even the front lobby. Because we booked the entire spa for our group for two hours, we were able to have mimosas and fruit in the garden and lounge. The lounge had to be the cutest place I've ever seen with so much white furniture/decor. I loved Float! I'm sad that I spent so much money here, but you really get what you pay for :) read more

Alright. So I had the worst experience here of my entire life several years ago, but after my friend informed that it was now under new management and that they fired and re-vamped the entire staff, i was curious to see how it would turn out. Of course, I was scared because any kind of hair removal (especially down there..... (tmi? sorry. i tell it how it is.)) FREAKING HURTS and all men who have significant others who get brazilians should be buying their ladies flowers cause let's be real... we do it for you. anyway... it actually wasn't so bad!! I was lightly panicking and having an anxiety attack, but I'm alive and it didn't hurt as badly as I expected. There were some times when I flinched and secretly cursed in my mind, but it was as painless as it could've been. read more

I went back and tried a few more services in good faith because I felt really wanted to love this place. Big. Mistake. I had a massage that was the opposite of the feeble lotion application from before and it resulted in weeks of pain from an a rough massage therapist. (She also talked through the entire massage, so I didn't even get relaxation with my new injury!) I also had a facial which included some lotion being dropped into my open eye. TWICE. Not really thrilled about that. In addition, the common areas are dirtier than ever. Nope. read more

I never really considered my self a "spa" person.. i always thought it was too pretentious, too "ladies who lunch".. But when I walked into Float.. I knew it was different. Love the downtown location The design is amazing.. Just go in and sit in the Sky Room and you'll know what I mean.. Modern, calming, serene.. Up to date Locker rooms with all the amenities. The Therapists are skilled and professional, and very very personable... I had the Ultimate Body Facial treatment.. Unreal! I can't wait to go back and experience more Who would have known a secret retreat right off of State Street. Not just for tourists.. This is a locals gem read more

Definitely recommend this place! Outdoor cabana in beautiful courtyard with a water feature. I had an excellent Signature massage with Maria, she was very good and it was one of my best experiences so far. They were very accommodating on the phone, very easy to make the appointment and very diligant of covid restrictions. Everything was super clean and I felt safe all the time, being outdoors and me and everyone wearing masks. read more

My mother, sister and I went to float for Mother's Day weekend and we had an amazing experience! The three of us got a facial, massage, body wrap, foot treatment and coconut scalp massage. All of our treatments were phenomenal. We often go to many spas back home on the east coast, as well as during our travels out of the country. Without a doubt, Float completely exceeded our expectations and we cannot wait to go back. We had Heidi and Lauri for our facials, who were both extremely knowledgable and our facials were delightful. For our massage, body wrap, scalp and foot treatments we had Erin and Angie. They really paid attention to detail and made our experience there one we will never forget. We ended our treatments in their relaxation room with a bottle of champagne. We were able to relax and unwind, making it a perfect ending to our treatments. The staff is so helpful and friendly, making sure you are accommodated your entire experience. We all cannot wait to come back, and have already recommended this spa to many friends in the area. Thank you Float for a weekend we will never forget!!! read more

After doing research online, I found this Spa. Important to note, many of the Spa's that rank high on Yelp, are hard to reach. Many use voicemail and one even had their phone go into a fax line. I'm glad I ended up at FLOAT. It is located one block off of State St, in a cool old free standing building that has been totally renovated. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. With excellent attention to detail and design; hard wood floors and clean white lines, the theme "float" is weaved gracefully throughout the spa. Complete with photos and pictures of blue skies, big puffy clouds and water. Even the dressing room carries the theme with light blue Italian glass tile and blue shampoo and shower gel. Waiting room is lovely with fireplace, designer bubble chandelier (very expensive) and beautiful sitting area. Excellent dressing facility (although small), with shower and area to do makeup and hair. Since I was only one in dressing room, this was not a problem. Services are top notch. I started with 80 min massage by John, in a lovely room with heated table. John was great and extremely skilled with TMJ (jaw pain). I then followed with a Facial from Rosa. Rosa also very skilled was very knowledgeable about skincare and many dermatology issues (she also works for a Dermatologist). Rosa did a great peel and facial. Great experience, I'll definitely go back! read more
