Jenneil was an excellent masseuse. The Euphoria includes a dry brush scrub, foot scrub, coconut oil scalp treatment and hot rocks. One of the best I have had. The facial by Tatiana was super informational and rejuvenating. She shared her thoughts on my skin and things I can do to help some problem areas. I felt very cared for. Terrible massage. The stars are for the front desk and 0 for the actual masseuse. This was a weird experience for me, I booked a day of deep tissue massage with a friend and we both got male masseuses. Our appointments started at the same time and we got led to different rooms. I was about ~7 minutes before she was out. She raved about her male masseuse and I was jealous af. I could go on and on about this terrible experience, but will save everyone some time: 1. avoid Stephen (I think this is his name) maybe it was an off day for him or something personal was going on..but he was just cold and rude the day I met him. nothing about him was warm, friendly, welcoming, relaxing ( you know, everything you would like to experience when paying $$ for a massage). I'm not looking for rainbows and butterflies, but maybe just some basic customer service? 2. avoid Stephen. there was no technique! I would dismiss #1 if the massage was worthwhile. I honestly don't think he knew what knots were and where they were. It almost felt like he was actively trying to not give me a good massage and when I asked him to go harder or deeper he would shoot back and say 'this part is not about the pressure'. ok..then can you make other parts about the pressure then?! I came to feel better with my achy back and now i know it's possible to feel worse after a massage. Because I felt so uncomfortable physically (and later emotionally), I know I was more tense than I needed to be. Look, I get massages at least 2x/month. from the cheap places with curtains as walls, to luxury day spas, and everything in between. There are some that are great but not fabulous, but I can still recognize and acknowledge a good massage. This was top 3 worst massages I've ever had. I felt a little better after the front desk lady asked how it went and I said 'okay'. she probed and I let her know and she was very genuine and apologetic. I have never been treated so terribly the way the owner has treated my self and my friends. Just be aware that there is absolutely no parking. This should have came as a courtesy email notification informing us that there won't be any parking around so be aware and keep track of your time allocated with your treatment time, but sadly we were never informed. The owner wouldn't acknowledge that they are in part were at fault for not letting us know about the no parking situation and in fact when we did arrive 10 minutes late they did tell us that it will not interfere with our 50 minutes massage but in fact it did and we left the place cheated, scammed and completely un-rested. It's so sad that such establishment with such horrible ownership exist and have no shame. I was appalled when I was speaking to the owner and her way of talking to her customer is horrible and frankly embarrassing. STAY AWAY! read more

Great spot! I took a friend for a massage and we were both extremely pleased with the service and the inviting atmosphere. We relaxed while waiting for our appointments by the fireplace while enjoying cucumber water and healthy snacks. After our sessions we sat outside in the reflecting pool garden which is lovely. The spa products were intriguing and it was great to be able to test a few ( and make a small purchase) while waiting to make our payment at the end of our day. Float is a real gem. read more

One word: DAVID! I would special request him. He is calm, focused, and truly gave a deep tissue massage without me feeling bruised the next day (as has happened with other masseuses in town). The front desk person seemed either side tracked, or annoyed that she had to help me. She was not rude, just not seemingly pleased to help me. I would go again just for the expertise of David and the fact that my neck and back pain subsided tremendously. The inside is actually really tranquil and aesthetically pleasing. Super cute back patio to relax in as well if needed. I inquired about having some friends come together for a spa day. The front desk person explained we could order drinks and a cheese platter. When I explained we are all vegan and would like a vegan platter, she seemed confused and said she would ask the manager if it was possible. In 2019, in Santa Barbara, in California, vegan options should really be the norm and an establishment should be ready for this request. Float Luxury Spa is a tranquil, little oasis in the heart of Downtown Santa Barbara. Float offers a myriad of spa services including massage, facials and scrubs. I enjoyed a few lovely deep tissue massages and a full body, exfoliating scrub. The majority of the masseuses are fantastic. There is one masseuse that I did not care for as he grunted, groaned, talked and persistently cracked his knuckles, neck and jaw throughout the entire treatment making it difficult to simply settle in and unwind. Aside from that one negative experience, all of my treatments have been enjoyable. Although, as I type, I realize that I have not returned to Float since that one negative experience so perhaps it had more of an impact than I realized. What I really think Float is great for are private parties! I threw a private, surprise party for my mother-in-law with about twelve of her closest girlfriends and we had a blast! The lounge was the perfect place for us to commune in between our respective treatments and enjoy champagne, charcuterie, cheese and cupcakes, cozy and warm by the fireplace. The booking process was seamless and everyone in our party had a great time. It's the perfect size for an intimate gathering. After our treatments, we enjoyed lunch outside in their beautiful courtyard. My mother-in-law and her friends felt pampered. It was so gratifying to see them relax and rejuvenate. I'm grateful to Float for making everyone feel special that day, even those who weren't celebrating their birthday. Tatiana is the best of the best. I will return again and again for her facials. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has a very relaxing energy about her. I also appreciate that she doesn't try to push a bunch of expensive products on me, but suggests DIY treatments I can do at home to keep my skin healthy. For the Luxe facial, she took one look at my skin and modified the facial to better suit my needs (she thought microdermabrasion would be too abrasive for my sensitive skin), which I very much appreciate. Had a great prenatal massage at Float. It was relaxing and a gentle massage. For the "Mellow Mama" massage you do lie on your side for most of it and then a part has the table angled. It was a mediocre massage. Not worth $125. They say it is 50 min but my person didn't come and get me until 4:06pm for my 4pm appointment. Even though they asked us to arrive 10 min before our appointment time. We had to still walk down stairs chat for a minute or 2 and then I had to get undressed. It all felt rushed and we were finished at 4:53pm. There is no spa ness to it. No place to change and relax in a robe chat with your friend / typical spa vibes. The massage itself was fine. I'm not one for reviews but felt it was important to share my experience with Float Spa. My boyfriend and I were visiting Santa Barbara for our anniversary last weekend. I planned a couple of surprises for him including his first massage. We were scheduled for a couples massage on Saturday morning. Unfortunately as we left our hotel for the spa our car alerted us that all of our tires were low so it was dangerous for us to drive and we headed straight to the nearest auto repair. I called the spa to let them know of our issue and that we weren't able to make our appointment. I asked if they had availability later in the day or could we move our appointment to Sunday. After a brief hold, we were told they were fully booked for the day. And if we moved our appointment to Sunday we would be charged a cancellation fee for Saturday and then pay for our massages again on Sunday. The cancellation fee is the full cost of the massages. So we would be paying for our massages twice. Otherwise, they will be charging us the cancellation fee for Saturday which was $280. We took the hit and didn't rebook. This was a huge let down for our trip as it was a special moment I had planned for our anniversary weekend. How disappointing that a business can't be more flexible. I understand they still needed to recoup the cost of the massages on Saturday but to not be willing to move our appointment to Sunday isn't if they had availability. read more

Went here with my friends and family for my friend Birthday, it was a great choice, love the area and the Spa. One thing I didn't like is that the woman's bathroom only had one bathroom stall to accommodate us and that the inside relaxation room was pretty small, it got a bit crowed on the day that we went. I choose to have the hot stone massage, it was the best because I had a great massage therapist. Float Luxury Spa is a relaxation gem right in the center of beautiful downtown Santa Barbara. There is a city parking lot right across the street which is convenient and the building that the spa is in has a charming curb appeal. My husband gifted me a facial and massage and it was such a treat. Upon arriving, I was welcomed by the receptionist and shown to the locker room which had my super comfortable robe and slippers ready. The amenities were well appointed. I was then lead to the the waiting lounge area which was peaceful and cozy--loved the floating chandelier! Enjoyed the refreshing spa water! My massage and facial were lovely. The technicians asked me questions regarding comfort and products, but otherwise were quiet and let me just relax. I had some tight muscles and asked for more pressure and the adjustment was made immediately and appropriately. After my treatments, I was invited to stay and lounge in the garden area. Unfortunately, I did not have enough "relaxation time" left in my day to enjoy their gorgeous back space, but that just means I will have to go back. It's located downtown in a very small building across from Marshall's. The pictures on the website don't reflect what it truly looks like. It's small. The outside needs some tidying up. The "pool" is empty and full of leaves and not really accessible. The ladies restroom is downstairs. The men's restroom was upstairs. No robes, no usable lockers, no usable changing rooms, no showers. It didn't really have the feeling or look of a luxury spa. It was clean. The lounge area was tiny in my opinion. There were six of us in it at once and it felt like we were uncomfortably close. Again, it felt less than luxurious to me with what seemed to be wicker patio furniture used for seating and about 4 tea cups with some tea out. The massage room I was led to was used for something else besides massages too. It was very un-spa like in my opinion. The table was a massage table like you can buy on Amazon (I have one exactly like it in my home) and is not electric-powered like high end spas have. The lighting in the room was not dimmable so it was rather light, and a bit noisy as it was facing a parking lot. The room seemed rather cold and almost medical like. The massage was fine. I really wanted a Swedish massage but received something I've not had previously. The oil was cold. The gal used her elbows and her forearms to basically roll up and down different areas. It was not the most pleasant for me. I'm used to Swedish with long, flowing movements. It seems like the elbow/forearm roll was the style because the person I went with also had a similar experience from a different massage therapist. The massage time was also short. They did compensate this by giving me a discount which was the right thing to do. Kudos to them for doing that. I do want to note that the staff were all very friendly even if they weren't sure of what to do, they were very nice about it and very helpful if they did. I'm doing my best to be as objective as possible. I tried to set my expectations based on the website and other reviews. I'm also sharing the things I'd want to know to help me make a better informed decision. I'm giving it 3-stars because it was just an average spa for me. - neither truly good nor truly bad just meh. Float is just the best. I never leave reviews, but the staff here are so cool. I have been getting my eyebrows down here for years but I decided to treat myself after a tough quarter at school and get a massage. I was slightly nervous because i hold a lot of tension in my shoulders and i hate when people comment on it. But Tawnya was my masseuse and she was the kindest woman. I could tell that she really cared about creating healing/good massage experiences. She also always checked in with me to make sure that certain areas weren't painful/towels weren't too hot/etc. This massage was also a gift from my grandma but after i was done i realized i completely forgot to bring the gift card. The lady at the front desk was super awesome about it and ended up looking it up for me so i didn't have to pay out of pocket. Another great experience, and I will definitely be back! read more

I had the worst facial of my life here - and the most expensive. I'd had a decent experience here a year ago getting a massage and was eager to return but I am frankly insulted that I paid $140 plus tip for someone to talk at me for 50 minutes (in spite of requesting a quiet experience on the intake form) while she haphazardly applied different lotions to my face. The person did not appear to be trained in aesthetics or massage and as a result I got none of the benefits of a facial - relaxation, gentle massage, extractions, etc. She just kept applying goop and then roughly wiping it off all while talking my ear off. I got no gentle massage on my face, chest, or neck. She applied lotion to my arms and hands briefly, but it was application, not massage. I was shocked at how bad it was, to be honest. I don't want to get anyone in trouble, and she was friendly, but at the same time, a person like this should not be permitted to give spa services. She also gave a facial to someone else in our group after me and did the same thing - talked the whole time even though they asked for silence, did not give any massage, etc. It's just not fair to charge people for such a terrible experience. read more
