during my ride, our bus broke down in the middle of the highway, only six minutes away from our destination and our driver, Tony, did the absolute best he could with the circumstances he was given. he made sure to reassure all passengers of their safety and was very communicative and helpful. he's very friendly and personable and overall, I had a really positive experience because of him. read more

They say You get what you pay for, in this case you get total unpredictably with a side of danger for the average price. First time taking the bus to nyc was a disaster , we got the tickets we paid for the seats and then the bus was late . Very late , then bus left from a different gate that was scheduled in south station - A screaming Chinese driver with heavy accent alarmed us to gate change and Thanks to 3 of us paying attention we didn't miss it like many others , When we got on bus there was no WiFi or toilets and 2 out of 3 of our seatbelts were ripped off completely from the chairs. No worries! The ride was 2 hours longer than it was meant to be ( not counting the time we waited ) than 4:30 hrs duration So we pretty much were on the bus in traffic for six and a half hours, (time it would take to fly to Europe) On the way back the bus was late , and there was no way to see it on their app because ( well - no WiFi) . We had no idea if we would leave at all ! We lingered in Moynihan station for 4+ hours in quiet panic as it was getting late for the scheduled 6 pm departure (some heading to work early in the morning the following day) trying to figure out what to do as we read the FLIXBUS' convoluted confusing cancellation policy, the online help was unavailable and calling them was useless . Finally bus magically appeared on their terrible APP - and was ready to depart in 10 minutes ( no pressure) so all the people who were not next to bus station didn't make the bus. We almost got into a huge accident immediately as the driver navigated a bunch of illegally parked cars at the entrance to the bus stop The female driver was visibly annoyed and I don't blame her She got us back to Boston at 2 am driving fast trying to catch up on lost time so instead of the scheduled 11 pm , She was tired and anxious and said she is about to take a trip back to NYC . I wondered if the people getting on the bus realized how exhausted she was Honestly I will never in my life use a bus ever again We have always used Acela and the price is decent if ordered in advance Hello and goodbye FlixBus read more

No stars if possible. At the time of ETA arrival, we were 1.5 HOURS away, no notice. Bus driver already and yelling at everyone just sitting there being quiet, to 'NOT BUG HIM', and no talking to him or asking questions. DO NOT TAKE FLIXBUS OR GREYHOUND NOW OWNED BY FLIXBUS!!!!! The bus from Portland to Seattle 1.5 hrs late but what was absolutely unacceptable was the PUTRID conditions on the bus (greyhound) It was completely DISGUSTING and TRAUMATIZING . Full of garbage upon embarking, the whole bus had an absolutely overwhelming smell of shit. Smelled so bad that people were sharing anything to mask the smell. Perfume, wet wipes, anything to cover their faces. The toilet was filled to almost overflowing. Unusable. It was unbearable in that bus and there was no relief at the one stop we made along the way, but the driver did get out himself to use the toilet. I ordered two seats online and the seat I wanted to use, by the window had no legroom because the seat in front of it was broken and leaning so far back. I wrote customer service demanding my money back and received no response whatsoever. read more

I wish I could give a zero rating. Had tickets from Boston to NYC, app said Gate 19. Bus station sign said Gate 19. I was at Gate 19 waiting. Bus just sat there. Then 15 minutes later I find out the bus left from Gate 21. Flixbus refused to refund. Said its the passengers responsibly to get on the bus. Don't use Flixbus. Its cheaper because they'll screw you even when they mess up. read more

No toilet paper, no lock on bathroom door. Rude unhelpful driver. No tables for seats.

Took my money with no refund Chinese bus driver who doesn't speak English refused to allow me to board his bus which is the only bus that stops at Cambridge MA Alewife stop at 2:15pm on Friday March 20, 2026. He said my ticket was for the wrong bus. He was wrong. I called customer support and they said I can't get a refund bc other passengers were able to get on the bus! Wtf! read more

I had a terrible experience riding with this company. I was sitting 3 rows away from the facility and I couldn't stand the nasty smell that was coming from there. I was about to threw up and it seemed that it was not cleaned before it departed. I rode it from Binghamton to New York. read more

I had a reasonably positive trip on FlixBus two weeks ago from San Diego to LA, however I unfortunately left my laptop on the bus in one of their seat back pockets. I have been in near constant communication with them since(submitted multiple lost luggage forms, calling their general number they have) but their customer service is absolutely terrible and so unhelpful. I can see the location of my device but they are claiming the laptop is still lost. I asked to get in contact with the actual driver/company I took my trip under (as that information is available when booking), but customer service said that wouldn't be possible. Would not recommend this service to anyone, which is a shame considering how affordable it is. read more

I Was Forced to Flee a FlixBus Ride from Hell -- Unsafe, Abusive, and Abandoned by Customer Support If I could give FlixBus zero stars, I would. This was one of the most disturbing and unsafe travel experiences of my life--and the company's complete lack of accountability has left me shocked. On 6/20/2025, I boarded a FlixBus from New York City to Boston, expecting a simple and affordable ride. Instead, what I got was a mechanically failing bus, an angry, aggressive driver, and a situation so disturbing that eight passengers--including myself--got off the bus at a rest stop and ordered our own Uber to escape. The ride started with repeated breakdowns. The engine kept stalling, and we pulled over more than once. Tensions were rising, and passengers were understandably concerned. Then came the moment that truly exposed how unfit this company is to operate: a passenger asked for access to their medication, which was stored underneath the bus. The driver refused. When the passenger insisted, the driver began shouting aggressively at them, yelling at other passengers as well. People were scared. Some tried to intervene, and the driver escalated the conflict even more. The environment on board became hostile, chaotic, and frightening. Faced with what felt like a completely unstable situation, I--and seven other passengers--chose to get off the bus at a rest stop and arrange our own Uber to Boston, just to get away. We felt safer paying out of pocket than staying on that vehicle another mile. It doesn't stop there. I contacted customer support and was initially met with broken English and copy-pasted policy language, claiming the trip was "completed" and therefore not eligible for a refund. Then, they abruptly ended the chat. They completely ignored the actual facts: * I didn't complete the trip. * The driver was verbally abusive and denied access to medication. * The bus was not roadworthy and broke down repeatedly. * I had to evacuate and pay for my own ride due to unsafe conditions. I then sent a formal written complaint demanding a refund, reimbursement for the Uber, and a travel voucher as a bare minimum for what I endured. So far? No real response. No accountability. No compassion. This isn't just a bad customer service story--it's a public safety issue. I will be filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and any agency that oversees transportation safety. If you're reading this and thinking about booking a FlixBus: Don't. Your safety, dignity, and time are worth more than what this company provides. What happened on that bus was dangerous, inhumane, and disgraceful. FlixBus, you owe me (and the other seven passengers who bailed on your ride from hell) an apology, a refund, and compensation for what we endured. Ignoring this is only making it worse. Do better. Before someone truly gets hurt. read more

WARNING- DO NOT EVER TRAVEL WITH FLIXBUS. The most awful experience I have had. the buses leave late, where you get them in NY is full of garbage and rats. The bus was dirty, the bathroom was broken and smelled for the 6 hour trip. The seats are too small, if you are over 5'5" expect your knees to be in your chest. the driver was speeding through the entire trip putting passengers safety at risk. there were no announcements on conduct for the overnight trip so people were on their phones up until 3 AM. this company should be shut down for violations. after cancelling my return trip 3 days prior to the date they credited me 30% of the ticket price to go towards my next trip with them AS IF. I am disputing the charge with my CC company. read more

My worst bus ride ever. There was no AC . I got sweat and couldn't breathe. Couldn't feel safe and I overpaid for my ticket.

I was super nervous reading all the reviews. As it was my mistake to book first and then do research. It wasn't a bad experience. I took this from Boston to NY and back. The NY arrival was a bit late but traffic was very chaotic. Boston I arrived a few minutes earlier. I would have given it more stars but on the way to NY the driver didn't have the ac on and it got really hot( my mistake for not getting up and asking as well). The charging ports are also a hit and miss. I will say carry the USB port as well bc most of these have that type of charger. read more

just share my experience with Flixbus today. On April 20, I booked a ticket with FlixBus for a 6:45 AM departure on April 21 (Route 2610) from Boston South Station to New York City. I arrived at South Station at approximately 5:30 AM, but there was no indication of a 6:45 AM departure. The earliest FlixBus to NYC present was scheduled for 7:15 AM. When boarding began around 7:00 AM, the driver refused to allow me--and many other passengers holding 6:45 AM tickets--to board, without providing any explanation. There was no staff available on-site, no posted updates, and no contact information on the ticket that could help clarify the situation. After waiting and receiving no guidance, I was forced to abandon my trip and return home. Later, I located a customer service number online on my computer and contacted FlixBus. I was told that the 6:45 AM bus had been delayed until 7:51 AM. However, this information was not communicated at the station, and no updates appeared on the departure boards. When I requested a refund, I was informed that because the delay was under two hours, I was not eligible. From a passenger perspective, the bus appeared effectively canceled: there was no communication, no assistance, and no way to reasonably access updated information in real time. Many passengers were left confused and stranded. I believe this raises concerns at Boston South Station about basic service standards, communication practices, and consumer protection, especially for early morning travelers who rely on timely and accurate information. read more

Waited almost two hours and the bus never arrived. Had to find a different way home. The company then refused me a refund.

Terrible! Bus never showed, no help at bus station, and no one to call. AI help was useless.

You really need to start giving a zero star option. My niece travels from Boston to NY often and she had a few uneventful trips with Flixbus so she signed up for an account that would allow her to use her student discount. Well after about the fourth trip things went bad. She encountered a very aggressive driver who had an issue with her small duffle. A woman tried to intervene on her behalf asking why she was singled out since others had duffles that were way larger. Apparently the seat next to her near the front of the bus was needed for the driver to sit additional bags on and so someone was placed in the seat next to her and the two seats behind the driver were used to place additional bags, including hers, which would have fit just fine beneath the seat. My mother ran up to the bus to inform them that she would need her medication during the long trip and he was extremely rude to my mother. I called customer service who said they would contact the driver to give her access to her medication. They never did. After 2 hours I told her the hell with what he says, you take your bag and you get your medication. My niece is not confrontational and she did not want to do this, but luckily he made an unscheduled stop at a rest stop and she was able to access her medication. At the same time she accessed her charger, but alas the port at her seat did not work. By this time she didn't feel well anyway and tried to sleep. She had later informed me that this particular driver is always extremely rude with passengers. I told her there were other options and the next time we booked with Greyhound. The trip was much better but she preferred the Flixbus only because their stop is on the street and not in the Port Authority bus terminal where she had a hard time meeting her ride afterwards. So we tried Flixbus again this last week and the bus was late. On the way to the station she got notification that it would be 2 hours late, then one hour late, then 2 hours....you get the point. It ended up being an hour late leaving and packed to the gills with people. She was lucky to get her assigned seat (which again we paid extra for) because they were adding passengers because of the bus that was apparently cancelled. She made it home okay, but it wasn't a very comfortable ride and again, she experienced a broken charging port. Thankfully her neighbor allowed her to share theirs. I used to use Megabus, which I only experienced one problem with and that was because of a passenger. I told my niece to give them a try for now on, despite the fact that they don't offer a student discount. Hopefully she won't encounter such rude service. She does not pay money to get yelled at and have her health ignored because someone is on a power trip. read more

I am very unhappy the bus is dirty, seats are torn. And there are no phone outlets. Who wants to ride that long without charging their phones. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't use this service again. Also the driver was telling everyone to put their own bags in the under bus storage. I am disabled and I cannot lift the bag. Not even a cup holder for your drink. It cost me 50 dollars for the bus. Unacceptable!! I will be asking for a refund and am taking the train back home. read more

I've been a regular FlixBus customer for about four years and recently noticed a change in their cancellation policy. I accidentally purchased a new ticket while trying to simply change the date and time on my original one. It was a small, very human mistake that I caught right away, so I contacted customer service. Unfortunately, I was told that under the new policy, they couldn't adjust my booking without charging another cancellation fee--on top of one I had already paid. The representative was polite, but the system left no flexibility to fix the situation. I found this disappointing, as I've never had this issue before. In the end, I canceled my ticket completely and rebooked with another bus company that was both more understanding and more affordable. I'll likely look to them as my first option going forward. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I rode the Flixbus from Boston to NYC. A few minutes after we started driving, I noticed a tugging of my shirt as I moved. I turned to try to figure out what was wrong with the seat and I found a small metal sharp spike poking out of the back of the seat. In finding it, I cut my finger and it started to bleed. I also realized the spike had ripped my brand new shirt. The bus was full, and moving, so I was unable to get up and switch seats. I had a folder in my bag so I put it behind my back for the remainder of the hot, uncomfortable ride. When we arrived in NY, I told the driver and and showed him my bleeding hand and he told me to go to an office, which was closed. I was given a customer service number to call. I had to call customer service 3 times to get through and not get disconnected. The person told me I needed to submit a refund request online and include all my photos of the spike, my bloody cut, etc. I included also my ripped shirt and my folder with holes in it from the spike. I received a response that they would refund me FIVE DOLLARS for what I paid to select my seat. This is INSANE. I called customer service again and they said that because the trip was completed they can't refund my ticket. So apparently even if they deliver you bleeding with your clothing ripped because of their shitty damaged seats they won't refund your ticket. She said I could reply to the email to escalate but that no one can help me over the phone. I have replied and I am awaiting response. This is probably the worst bus experience I have ever had. I also encountered a couple whose bus had abandoned them without their luggage during a connection. Flixbus seems absolutely terrible. I took it once in Germany and it left everyone in an abandoned parking lot 2 blocks away from the station where it was supposed to stop. I had no phone and it was 1AM and I was left lost in a random parking lot with my friend looking for me at the station. I guess I should have known better than to book with this company. I rarely write reviews, but this situation deserves it. Yesterday, I had a scheduled trip from New York with a departure at 3:45 p.m. We boarded the bus right at that time, and half an hour later, we were informed that it was canceled due to a technical problem. They told us we would be reassigned to another bus, but they didn't provide any further explanations. At 4:15 p.m., we received an email informing us that we had to catch a new bus at 5 p.m., but from another station 5 km away. We had to run with our luggage those 5 km across the city and arrived just 2 minutes before the new bus departed. Furthermore, the new route took longer, so we arrived 2 hours late at our destination. We contacted Flixbus to express our dissatisfaction, and their response was that since we made it to the bus, the service was considered complete, and there was nothing more to say. I don't know how the service is with other companies, but it's clear that Flixbus doesn't care about the well-being of its passengers. I strongly recommend trying other options. read more

In a world of inflation, eye-popping gas prices and insufficient bus services, Flixbus is the place to go. The last of a dying breed. I won't call out other bus services, but in 2022 Flixbus is the opposite of the other options when it comes to rides from Boston to NYC. You can still get a one way bus ride for $20 to $30 on a Saturday, I am almost certain you can't find this elsewhere. I've taken this bus four times (two round trips) and three of the four times the wifi worked! In baseball if you hit .300 you're a very good player, so I'll take that. But most importantly the bus LEAVES ON TIME. Arrive early, because it will leave your ass behind. The only caveat is the bus often picks up/drops off in Boston on Traveler street (15 minute walk from South Station) and makes a quick stop in Brookline to pick up/drop off more people. Just be sure to check the details before purchasing your ticket. Sometimes the bus does pick up and drop off at South Station. Overall, especially compared to its competitors, Flixbus is the best option for bus trips from Boston to New York. read more
