That has not been my experience in going to FLIRT for almost two years. I cannot speak to the experiences of any of the female patrons as I have never had anything but a cut and style with FLIRT but every time I have went has been worth it. The receptionists learn what your preferences are and will even call you if a time/day opens up that is more accommodating for you. They remember their clients and always treat you with respect. Lissa was my regular stylist and I could not recommend her more. She is a bit of a drama queen and has no life (kidding kidding) but she is one of the sweetest people around and knows how to give you the cut you want. She will also give you good advice if you ask for it. As with any business out there, dont be an entitled @ss to the staff and they will go above and beyond to provide you with great service. read more

My highlights had a significant amount of bleed through at the roots which led to actual horizontal highlights. The chemicals also apparently bled through to my shirt and bleached a large section of it. I, unfortunately, didn't realize these things until later in the day. I made the huge mistake of visiting this salon a few days ago and saw Cynthia. I went into the salon with healthy, medium brown hair, a couple inches past my shoulder. I left with brassy, orange and yellow hair, a choppy cut to shoulder length, and an over-bleached undercut. I spent $325 and 7 hours (11am to 6pm) at the salon which is the longest I have ever spent in a salon in my life. I had asked for a simple balayage and a trim to even up my hair length and showed her photos of examples of what I wanted. She convinced me that a balayage wouldn't work on my hair and would turn it brassy and said I should do a full highlight with an additional lightening process instead. Sadly, I trusted her judgement thinking she was a credible, experienced stylist. I had spent the better part of two years growing out an undercut so it was all new, virgin hair. I informed Cynthia of this right off the bat and a few more times throughout the day. After I got home and started examining my hair more closely I realized what she'd done. The entire section of virgin hair had been bleached to an awful, yellow/platinum blonde color which faded to orange at the ends. I was shocked because Cynthia hadn't bothered to mention this huge error she'd made while I was there and instead let me go home this way. I also saw she had cut a significant amount of this part of my hair off (obviously an attempt to hide the horrible color she's turned my hair) So not only was the hair bleached but also shorter than I was when I arrived and this was really the only section of hair that I DIDN'T want cut at all. The rest of my hair was brassy and orange and the lightest parts were yellow at best. I went back to the salon at 8 am the next morning, which is when it says they are open, but no one was there and no one answered the phone. I waited for about 40 minutes before I left. Finally around 9:15, someone answered the phone, I explained the situation, and booked a time to see Cynthia at 2:30 that day. When I went in, she admitted that she had known she's over-bleached the hair but said it "looked lighter today" I did not receive an explanation or an apology, let alone, a refund. She said she would tone down the bleached area and tone up the rest to try and help with the brassy color. She informed me that it would be a "complimentary" service but that I would only be there for about an hour this time. The toning down helped to hide the over-bleached portion but I left the salon with wet, still brassy orange hair. For the money and time spent at this salon, this was a terrible result and I was extremely disappointed with the service. I will never set foot in this place again and I will be returning to my old stylist on the other side of town so she can fix this mess. If you care about your hair or your money, DO NOT COME HERE. read more

I was a new customer getting colour done and was not even shown a colour chart, very unprofessional and considerating the prices they charge it's shocking. When I arrived home I noticed my hair at the bottom of my head felt hard and I couldn't put my fingers through it, they had not washed out the product properly! I went to this salon based on the Yelp reviews and it actually ended up being within walking distance of my apartment. Let me start out by saying that the service here is wonderful. I called in and made an appointment for the same day, the receptionist was very nice over the phone. When I arrived with my boyfriend in tow we were offered drinks and snacks first thing. We waited a bit for the stylists to finish with their clients and chatted amiably with the receptionist during our wait. The service was great, included in the haircut is also a scalp massage, a quick hand massage, a wash and styling. It's really a good value. My hair cut took a long time, but what it meant was that my stylist was making sure he did a great job, and he did. The atmosphere of the place is also great, it's funky and stylish without being alienating. I will definitely be a return customer. read more

I went in for an all over hair color with Priscila. I didn't ask for anything complicated - just the darkest color they had. She did a good job & after the hair treatment, there was no color on my hairline which was great. The only thing that was really disappointing was the cost. When I called in, I was told that color started at $65 & I'd get $10 off for being a first time customer. Apparently, each extra ounce used was an extra $10. Two ounces was initially used for my hair & then a small clump of hair was remaining for which an additional ounce was mixed & way more than half was remaining. I felt that was quite unfair. I'm not sure I'll return here for color. The whole place was empty the entire time I was there but my overall impression is that it was a clean place - there were no brownies/pastries, however, or if there were, I wasn't offered any. read more

I went to Flirt today for the first time. Found them on Yelp, while looking for a new dry bar in the area. Our office relocated near here, and I used to pop out at lunch and get my hair washed and styled. So, I needed a new place. Well, I found it! I really loved Flirt for a few reasons: The are not pretentious. Down to earth ladies, down to earth environment, very welcoming. They told me about the specials and discount for newcomers that I would not have otherwise known about. Most places post specials online, and then don't mention it if you don't. Not here. No one was pushy about upselling or having me buy products I didn't need. The salon is clean, cute, and nice. They spent money on nice chairs, sinks, et cetera and you can tell someone thoughtfully decorated. You don't feel like you're in a half baked salon that was an afterthought. They pay attention to the details. Scalp massage before your shampoo, hand massage, hot towel on your forehead. Malarie asked me first, if I wanted the towel so as to not mess up my makeup (I mentioned I was headed to dinner). She removed my hair tie from my wrist so she didn't get massage oil on it. They are very thoughtful. They are talented. She knew what she was doing, and clearly is a knowledgeable hairdresser (who performs cut, color, et cetera normally). My hair looked great. She did exactly what I asked. She blew my hair out perfectly, gave me the volume I asked for, and my hair looked healthy and shiny. I already have my next appointment set. All of this and reasonable prices for services. This place is a must visit! read more

Flirt Salon is among the best salons in the valley. The staff, from check in to check out, are friendly and accommodating. The Salon is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The stylists always seem to have happy clients. They offer online booking and give the best head and hand massages, complimentary. And Yani, the owner and my hair master, is amazing. She listens, advises, and works with me to give me the best hair every time. I wish I could give less than one star!!! I have bleached my hair for years and came to this salon based on reviews and SEVERELY regret it. I saw Cynthia, who I'm now convinced was high on something. I had told her my hair is very hard to uplift but my stylists have never had a problem (I have very long, thick beautifully bleached blonde hair), it took 2.5 hours and she still wasn't complete and had other customers and told me to come back in the afternoon for my complimentary hair cut. The roots were orange and brassy immediately folllwing the color (complete amateur move when I had explicitly told her about my hair) and coming back for the cut was a complete J.O.K.E. she did a few texturizing snips and was done in 5 minutes even though I requested a trim of about an inch to shape it up. The brassy roots continued to get more and more brassy over the week so I contacted the salon again and was told to come in. Again, was seen by Cynthia, who I again think was high. She had told me I would need to pay for the product to correct her mistake. I was super annoyed but needed to have my hair corrected. After the treatment, and wash out, she was drying my hair and I noticed pieces breaking off and my hair was completely fried and a complete different texture than I've ever felt before. I questioned her and she told me "it's the price you pay for being bleach blonde". I attempted to argue with her that in my 10 years of bleaching my hair I have never ever had this happen before. She continued to argue with me and told me we were done for today as she didn't want to dry or style my hair since it was over-processed. Told me I could come back for a leave in mask that they would charge me $20 for. I wouldn't recommend this salon to my worst enemy. read more

I went to this salon with a photo of what I wanted which was a blonde ombre and i came out with full highlights which i did not want... they are now orange... I called and they said that they would schedule an appointment and work out something. On the phone I asked for a reimbursement when I got there they were only willing to make my hair lighter. I didn't trust them with my hair and I didn't want it lighter. I got no reimbursement on a $200 hair color. I ran out crying and stuck with hair that I do not like at all. read more

Flirt is my new salon. I take my beauty salon and my hair stylist, seriously. I want the salon to be about beauty, truly how I can be polished and coiffed to perfection and Flirt does just that. The salon itself is a pretty spot. The staff is incredibly nice. You are greeted, offered a drink, maybe a snack and taken to your stylist station. My stylist is Jessica. I went to this salon about a month ago...yes, I'm that far behind with my reviews :) After a glitch with the scheduling on a very tight day already, I'm glad that I decided to not blow them off. They had a deal where your haircut was free if you got highlights, so I decided to get that too. Anthony cut and colored my hair. He was a very hip, plesant looking young man (I'm not really that old but he looked about 16...even though he told me he was in his 20s) and was able to make my hair beautiful without me having to give him much instructions. I really hate when stylists start asking me too many questions, I feel like a deer caught in the headlights. He didn't talk too much which is great cause some hair stylists are chatterboxes and I'm a working mom and I don't get a lot of "me" time, so sometimes I just want to relax and not listen to anybody or have to answer questions. He told me a bit about himself and I told him a bit about me and that was it. Since he knew I was going out for a special night he took special care when blowing out my hair and put on a product that had some shimmer and it was awesome. ***I just received an e-mail that Anthony no longer works at Flirt. :( I wish I could find out where he went, but oh, well, I'll still go for my next appointment to Flirt and give another stylist a chance. read more

Purchased a Groupon, therefore only paid $35 for a haircut - so for the price ok I guess. BUT if you have to pay full price, I'd recommend going somewhere else. After finding out my stylist was going to be on vacation for a week, and having needed a bang trim for three weeks already, I had to find a cool spot quick for a desperately needed fringe tidy-up. Since it was only bangs, I figured that would be the perfect way to try out a new salon. I first made an appt (sort of, they just said to come by whenever if it's just bangs) with Toni and Guy at Fashion Square ($13) - for no other reason than that's the only salon that came to mind that would grasp how I like to style my bangs, the look I'm going for, etc. I read some Yelp reviews and was reminded why I did not like going there. Thru Yelp I came across Hair Pollution, which has really impressive reviews, is independent and supports local art. Awesome. Called and easily made an appt that same day ($15). Later that I was skimming the New Times and saw an ad for a new independent salon right by my house in Tempe, offering a Grand Opening Special that featured a free bang trim. Well free is better than $15, so I canceled on HP and made a same day with Flirt. I believe it was the owner welcomed me and cut my hair - I'm basing that on nothing other than she had an owner's air about her. Cute place, but not really my style. Granted, we are in Tempe suburbia, and this place would sit well with hip-ish suburban moms who just breakfast'd at Wildflower across the street. Back to the cut. She took her time - which means a great deal to someone getting their hair cut. I hate when stylists act hurried or distracted, because that always leads to a bad haircut. She took about 15, maybe even 20 minutes. She asked A LOT of questions as she trimmed, which is also GREAT, but we seemed to have trouble communicating for some reason. I kept having to ask back "Well, what do you mean?" When I would answer she would say, "So...you want to do this...?" with a concerned/confused look. She just didn't seem to want to do what I was asking for, or made me feel like I was asking her to do something to my hair that would look bad, which bummed me out. But, when all was said and done, she did a great job on the trim and I appreciated her time on what was to her a non-sale. She even sent me on my way with more coupons (they're offering $10 off any cut; free cut with color service; free bang trim and more). I'll def go back for the cut and see where it goes from there. Paid a lot of money for extensions and was given a haircut I didn't ask for. There was no concern or apology and was treated rather coldly and told I had to pay to come back to fix it. I spent several hundred dollars more to come back and have it fixed. The staff showed no interest for making the customer happy and was focused more on money than the well being of the client. I had communicated what I wanted and the hairdresser(Amy) assured me she understood. She didn't double check and systematically destroyed my natural hair by shredding it into the extensions and something I never would have agreed to if she told me she was going to do that. read more

The color was fine but I was clear about what I wanted but she didn't even get close and did not know how to dry cut curly hair. This is the worst salon I have ever been to. I got my hair cut and colored and it came out splotchy. My roots weren't fully covered and there were spite that had no color on them. When I went back they were extremely rude and said they couldn't help me because it was one day past there guarantee policy. They were rude disrespectful and laughed as I walked out the door. Terrible experience. Made an appointment in advance for a Keritan Express treatment. To my disappointment, they sold all the product the day before (thought I made an appointment?) Sooooo, I came back and paid $90. After waiting 72 hours for my "treatment" to cure, it washed out after the second shampoo. Waste of money and time. Never will I spend my money at this place. I've been going to the location in Chandler for a couple of years now. The first stylist I had for my initial several appointments left the salon and I was so bummed. Tried Danielle, she made me uncomfortable in my chair for a number of reasons from insulting my eyebrows to literally complaining about how long my hair is and how it was taking longer than she wanted. I then read the portfolios of the other stylists on their site, and scheduled my next appointment with Ashely Grimm. ZERO regrets! She is not only down to earth and genuine, she is extremely knowledgeable and talented!! As long as Ashley works at FLIRT, I will continue to be a customer of their salon. read more

First of all, I NEVER do this! They say you start when you have a HORRIBLE experience and here it is. I have NEVER been more disappointed in a salon!! I felt like a science experiment! My stylist was Emily and even the MANAGER Amy had to come over mulitiple times. I mean by the end of the night I'm not sure why she just didn't take over but I'm glad she didn't because her overall customer service needs some sharpening! So I made an appointment to have partial blonde highlights put into my chocolate brown hair and I walked out of there with bright orange/red hair!!!!! This was on Monday 2/27/17. The first time Emily washed my hair out -my blonde highlights that I was expecting to see were brassy like a copper penny! She then had to go back and mix more color to fix it (because she clearly knew that was not the result I wanted). Not only did she try to fix it once but I had to do this about 2 or 3 times with two "professionals" -Emily and Amy (a MANAGER who should probably know what to do) but they still failed! They were running letters and numbers by me; Amy kept telling Emily, (quote) "you need to mix 8a and 10n or no you need to mix 10a and maybe 10n or you need to cancel the green/gray out with this color and oh you also should try rubbing bleach on her hair and how long did you leave the toner in for and no you should do it on dry hair not on wet hair..." (end quote). Like seriously?! How professional is it for my hair to be a cooking experiment?! It is now Thursday 3/2/17 and I have yet to hear from this "amazing" owner Yani and they are refusing to refund my $200 !!! So...I had called the next day on Tuesday and asked for a manager. I spoke with Cynthia and explained to her how hard it is for me to stand up for myself when something bad happens and how difficult it was for me to share how I truly felt. She had me come in to the salon so she can look at my hair and her facial expression when she saw me could say it all. She didn't even know what to do to fix it. She offered a "complimentary" fix ?! HOW IS IT FREE WHEN I ALREADY PAID YOU ?! I walked out of there truly thinking, maybe, just maybe I should give them a chance, but I concluded that I just can't trust them. They already tried fixing it 3-4 times while I was there for my appointment! So I called the following morning and left a voice message asking for a full refund. I didn't get a call back all day so I called again in the evening and asked for Cynthia. She wasn't there so Amy came to the phone. I had no idea at this point that she was the one there with me that night helping Emily nor did I know she was a manager also..which again, WHY didn't she as a manager do anything to resolve any of this. Our conversation over the phone lasted about 15 minutes before I hung up out of anger. We were battling a battle that was going no where - I asked her what is the outcome of the conversation? Will I be getting my money back? She said no; it is on their website that they do not offer refunds. THERE IS absolutely NO REFUND POLICY CLEARLY STATED ON THEIR WEBSITE. (Despite the manager's insistence that it is the policy and it is viewable there) Amy said it was not a technical error on their end but my hair is what was erroneous in this experiment! Utter disbelief!! & The icing on the cake is here! Because I was a new client they offered a free head massage and a free lavender hand massage in which I NEVER received and on top of all of this my one and a half hour appointment turned into 4 AND 1/2 hours!!! I was there even after the front desk receptionist left and after they had closed! If I do not get my money refunded back to me within the next 48 hours I will take this to the BBB ! read more

Arrogant people. I had appointment on saturday. I went there and they said they are out of keratin products . They didn't call me because they didn't have my number. First lady said we called you and you didn't pick up. then I said I didn't get any call. Now then she said'oooo sorry we don;t have your number'. WHATTTTTTT??? If I cancel appointment I have to pay all fees and if they cancel then its fine. APPOINTMENT MANAGEMENT IS VERY POOR. read more

A great haircut, even for a man like me. My stylist Annemarie was pleasant and knowledgeable, and a has a lot of experience. Her resistance to just using clippers like everywhere else is a refreshing change, and really spoke to her skill as a stylist. My cut included a scalp and hand message, so it is deffently full service salon. The man's cut is a bit pricy however, and for someone like me that's used to a somewhat lower priced barbershop cut, it was a tough to justify at first. They do a free neck trim once a week, so It'll make sure to take advantage. I'll be back for my next cut soon. read more

Yani is technically a great stylist. Unfortunately the salon is very poorly managed. After booking an appointment two weeks in advance, I a got a call from someone at the salon asking for a credit card number to secure my appointment. I'd been to the salon many times before and this had never been the case. When I told the person I didn't want to give my credit card information out over the phone, she said it was no problem. When I showed up at the salon, I was told my appointment has been "canceled" because I hadn't given my credit card information and that the computed had no record of my appointment despite the fact that they knew what the appointment was for. I was offered an appointment two hour later with another stylist. I had taken time off work for the appointment. It's too bad that this is the way clients are being treated at Flirt. I haven't found anyone else with Yani's skills, but I'm going to start looking again. It's not worth it to be treated like this. read more

I saw Theresa last night for a full highlight, haircut and conditioning treatment. This was my first time in the salon and I chose them based off the reviews on Yelp. I was EXTREMELY impressed with Theresa and the entire salon and staff. Theresa was very knowledgable on all the latest techniques and trends and was obviously very passionate about hair. She was honest to me about my expectations and was concerned about the integrity of my hair so we agreed to a happy medium between what my hair was and what I wanted. She told me we could get me to a good place for now but that it would take a while to get me where I want to be without ruining my hair. I appreciated the fact that she wasn't willing to let me have a ton of breakage just so I would be at the color I wanted. During my appointment I was offered beverages several times by both my stylist and the receptionist. I was even brought a warm brownie and wine! Theresa held a great conversation the entire time and even when I was processing she kept checking on me to make sure I didn't need another magazine or more drinks. Anyone who has sat through a full highlight knows how boring it is! She made it a very pleasant and unboring experience! When Theresa was styling my hair she took the time to show me some tricks to style my extremely fine hair so that it would look fuller. She also showed me a great trick on how to style my bangs while I grow them out. No one has ever taken the time to show me their tricks! I could type a review at least twice as long with all the other things that impressed me about the salon and staff but I think you just need to experience it yourself to understand. If you are looking for a real salon with knowledgable staff without the pretentiousness that the big salons offer, this is your place. read more

Went here because my salon closed and needless to say my experience wasnt great. I was in a station that was right next to the front window and door and it was so hot that me and the stylist were sweating. Also, once my cut was done the stylist couldnt style my hair like I wanted because it was going to cost more to use a flat iron. So, I left not knowing what my hair style looked like. I wasnt pleased about that. I feel if im paying $50 for a haircut and style then it should be styled when I leave not just blow dryed with a brush. I won't be going back there again. read more

First of all this salon is dirty! I had to sit on an old couch disgusting couch while waiting. I made an appointment and immediately got a call back saying they accidentally double booked someone and had to move my time. They are constantly getting new stylists the receptionist told me so I couldn't even get the one I wanted and read about on the site. It's like my stylist worked at Super Cuts, it was choppy and my highlights were stripey! and apparently being a manager doesn't mean much because I was also informed by an employee that she's never there!! All the hairdressers sit in the back corner and when I needed to go to the bathroom they were all surrounding the area talking about other clients in the salon!!! This salon claims to have a 100% guarantee on any of their services within two weeks (Per their website). They also say they are BBB Accredited. They messed up my hair and I made them aware on the day of service. I filed a complaint with the BBB (within one week) and asked for a refund. They have completely ignored me and have refused to respond to my complaint (and refused to issue a refund). This is the worst salon service and customer service I have ever had. read more
