Tried to sit on the patio and was declined. I think Heidi needs to be refreshed on Texas State law on how to handle these proper situations. Apparently she doesn't know Texas law as it's clearly stated despite trying to reason with her. 10 out of 10 not professional and operating on personal opinions not Texas law as it's stated. Completely rude & completely disrespectful. Absolutely no reason to be treated this way. Clearly a violation of Texas law and cares to hear nothing more than her premeditated opinion. Maybe she needs to be retrained I don't know? Definitely could've handled things 1000 times better but I guess her personal beliefs are more important than restaurant standards.

From the time we sat until our food arrived was just over 50 minutes. This by itself will probably lead me to choose a different hotel in the future because no one has that kind of time at breakfast. I want to be very clear that this isn't a criticism of the guy who was working front of house. He had absolutely no help and was the lone server for nine tables and had to bring things out from the kitchen and had to walk across the hall to get everyone's coffee orders. Super hard-working and probably underappreciated.

Though I can't remember my server's name, she was truly exceptional.. attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. Now onto the food: I had the salmon salad (with extra pickled onions) and the smoky corn chowder. The salmon was cooked perfectly juicy, tender, and flavorful. The chowder was bold and rich, with a smoky depth that made each spoonful better than the last. Whether you're staying at the hotel or just in the area, this spot is worth a visit. Hotel dining just got an upgrade.

I am saving my five star rating until I can try the food. This is a relaxed spot with plenty of TVs, a full bar, great beer specials, and some of the friendliest, most helpful bartenders around. It has a true neighborhood feel and is rarely overcrowded, which makes it even more enjoyable. I have seen people of all ages here, so it is definitely a place where you can bring the whole family. We try to stop by every weekend and always have a great experience. We look forward to continuing to enjoy this local gem.

That said, The Goat Tavern deserves some love. This is my kind of place: a true little local dive bar without all the polished chain-restaurant nonsense. But the real surprise was the food. Their chicken wings are PHENOMENAL -- easily better than any chain restaurant wings I've had. Twin Peaks included. If I could make one request, it would be a smoked version of their wings. I think that would be ridiculously good. Great little local spot, killer wings, and exactly the kind of dive bar I hope sticks around for a long time. Now forget you read this and stay away from my bar.

The Texas chili had a good level of heat, but it was a bit gritty, as if it may have been slightly over-seasoned. My sour cream chicken enchiladas were decent, though not outstanding--the chicken was cubed rather than shredded, which affected the texture for me. My guy ordered the taco salad with spicy beef and really enjoyed it, though it definitely brought the heat--he was sweating by the end. Even so, he said he'd order it again. What really elevated the experience was our waiter, Cameron. He was friendly, attentive, and offered great suggestions. He kept our drinks full without us ever having to ask, refilling our tea at least five times. His service alone took the experience from a 3-star to a 4-star visit.

The parking is difficult, especially on a Sunday, and the people walking on the sidewalks act as though it's their first time on an actual city sidewalk. The band was quite good. The food? Moderate. I would probably give it a B. We did not try the chili, and it is a chili parlor, so shame on us. That said, the sampler platter was nice. It is worth a return trip for another good band. The service was very attentive without interrupting the music - it was a great balance.

We came here just to eat, didn't play golf. Overall great experience…read more I had salmon on arugula with olives and tomatoes. It was great. The charred lemon on top was a really good move. The arugula could use a little more dressing, just something to tie it together a tiny bit better, but that's a minor thing. My husband got something like a cowboy burger and enjoyed every single bite. It looked delicious. Fries were kind of mediocre, not the best I've had, not the worst either. Everything else though was delicious. Service was impeccable. The ladies serving us were way above average. Very nice, and I didn't get the impression they were doing it just for the tip. It genuinely seemed like they enjoyed what they were doing. Could be wrong, but that's how it came across. We were sitting outside and there were flies everywhere. That is the only real complaint I have. They were relentless. It is very hard to eat when flies are trying to eat with you, and I don't find it very hygienic when a fly lands on your food if it doesn't have to. Also worth knowing, the place is right on the direct approach to one of the airport runways, so you will see planes coming in constantly. Great for spotting planes, not great if you need quiet. But other than the flies, everything was impeccable. Would go back. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. If not, the stars reflect that.
