It was perfect to get some takeout at Pear, which is in Upper East Food Club. Think of Upper East Food Club as an intimate Asian food hall on Yonge Street. If you're a subway person, it's between Finch and North York Centre stations, with it being slightly closer to the latter. It currently has the following businesses: - Machi Machi - Cafe Bora - Alethea Flowers - Pear I had an excellent experience picking up takeout from Pear. Machi Machi was making drinks for a couple of customers when I was there. Alethea Flowers piqued my interest. It had the most beautiful displays of flowers, candles, and scents. Markham has an Alethea. I should check the place out sometime. I didn't check out Cafe Bora. It wasn't open for business. It's paid parking on Yonge Street. I used my Green P app to pay for parking. The parking patrol was out when I returned to my car from Cheese Garden. Alternatively, you can park on McKee Avenue. However, I don't know whether you need to pay for parking or if it's free for an hour. It's a cool concept that works. I'd come back to revisit Pear and stop by the other businesses. (53)

They aren't actually a chain; they only have a few locations and they are all in Toronto. I've heard bad things about their other locations but my experience with the one at Lawrence Square can't be anything but positive. I ordered the orange chicken, BBQ pork and mushrooms on fried rice and split it with my brother. The BBQ pork was actually amazingly tender and juicy, and better than a lot of the ones I've had from asian grocery stores and chinese restaurants. The orange chicken was sweet and flavourful, and had a fantastically high meat to breading ratio. Everything was very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our box. The meal itself was only $10 (as of October 2018) and was enough to feed two big eaters; that's some great value! Overall, this place is definitely a winner in my book.

The fried chicken and fried fish are not overly breaded like 90% of Chinese fast food restaurants. I would highly recommend eating here if you find yourself at Lawrence Square.

As a new food court, this place is extremely busy. I'm not sure where all of these people are coming from or where they were eating before. None of the existing places nearby have had long lines, but the lines at every restaurant in this food court are extremely long. To avoid these lines, you'll need to come before 12 or after 1. Cleanliness and Appearance - This is a new food court, and as such is very clean. There appears to be people roaming around and quickly bussing tables. It's also bright and modern. It's not like some of those depressing underground food courts. Seating: - There is ample seating. Despite the large number of people buying food here, I didn't really notice lots of people wandering around trying to find seats. This is helped by the fact that most people here are bringing their food back to the office. Variety - As of the time of this review, the following restaurants are located in this food court: - Manchu Work - chinese fast food - California Thai - unfortunately, this isn't really Thai. Most of the food is greasy battered chicken. The menu is very similar to Manchu's Wok's. It's redundant, in my opinion. - Subway - Sbarro - Pasta and Pizza - Wasabi - A noodle place - Opa! Of Greece - La Prep - this isn't in the food court, but is directly across the hallway. They sell, wraps, sandwiches, salads, and things like that. - There is also a Starbucks location and another place called Cafe Palma in the same building. There is a Druxy's down the escalator. Overall, the variety is just ok. I'd prefer a true Thai place vs. California Thai, which is just a slightly better variation of Manchu Wok. I'd also like to see more healthy options. This food court is connected to the North York Centre subway station.

I was almost shocked when the salad touched the Indian guy's hand and he simply shrugged his shoulder and added it back to my plate! I simply told him that I changed my mind and don't want the salad. It's pretty much been the same over the past years, same mom and pop clothing stores, with a food court. I personally really like the shop with all the pretty dresses and handsome tuxedos for kids, they are super cute and very affordable! I would go into One's Better Living to browse around for home items/decors. A little sad that they don't have a legit bubble milk tea shop inside the mall.... just coffee and tea, Real Fruit, and a Freshly Squeeze (which did not open when I went). The newest addition would be K-Food Kitchen, right next to mall entrance #2, selling a variety of kimbab and fried chicken platters!

To be brutally honest ... it's actually a personal favourite - but as something more along the lines of a Public Service Announcement, I'd rather keep the consumer's expectations in check, and maybe let them be pleasantly surprised by what this modest mall has to offer. So. This is definitely a neighbourhood mall as opposed to a Destination Mall like Yorkdale or Square One. You have your No Frills supermarket; your Canadian Tire all purpose goods store; your Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacy; and your Hudson's Bay department store, forming the cornerstones. Add to that, some solid amenities like a Fit for Less gym; a full service Pickle Barrel restaurant for your sit down meal and beverage needs; a Dollarama for your dollar store purchases; a full food court with many food outlets to choose from; and plenty of clothing, jewellery, and many more specialty shops to cover most items you might need. The washrooms used to be a dingy affair down in the basement but have been relocated and upgraded to the main floor. Nice improvement! You can also choose from a Tim Hortons takeaway counter, an open area Timothy's, a private company coffee counter, and a pretty nice self contained cafe called Dolce Camerata with its own outdoor patio space for plenty of cuppa Joe and snacks options. One of few remaining Ardene outlet stores is also still here. There are a lot of one-of type clothing stores with tons of low cost items, and a couple of shoe stores. There aren't a lot of chain stores, especially in the toiletries department so don't look in vain if you're hunting for Body Shop or Bath & Body Works items. In fact, you will find very few chain stores here, which is where it will likely fail the more demanding consumer. Great for every day needs. Beware the mall parking, which for some reason is inexplicably difficult to access and navigate in spite of a decent volume of parking spaces. Just don't expect to be wowed, and maybe you'll find a few unexpected, little surprises.
