However, after one class we were convinced this was the place for us. But, I wanted to give it some time to make sure it was a fair and honest review. Here is the scope: Senseis Lee and Matt are incredible and passionate about their instruction which shows in every aspect of their teaching style. Not only are my children stepping up their game and performing strongly but one can see that the children in their class feel a connection to the art as presented by the instructors and are progressing at a solid pace. The instructor-student dynamic is very engaging, and all students regardless of ability are treated with an equal amount of compassion, discipline, and respect which results in every class being a fun and serious karate training season that my girls look forward to attending. Classes are unlimited and scheduled throughout the week which is nice considering our schedule and +20 miles we must drive each way to attend (for us it is worth it). There are no high-pressure sales tactics or crazy 6 + month commitments like some other place (we have looked at a few). Bottom line if you are considering Karate or any martial art for that matter seriously take a look at this studio. It is a great experience on every level!

He is the real deal and you're not going to find that anywhere else here. One thing that sets TX Kenpo Karate apart is the emphasis on character development. It's not just about physical training; but also focus on building strong, respectful, and disciplined individuals. The sense of community here is fantastic. I've made great friends and found a support system within this dojo which I had been missing since I moved to Texas. I highly recommend TX Kenpo Karate to anyone looking to start their martial arts journey or continue their training. It's a place where you'll not only improve your physical abilities but also grow as a person. It totally changes who you are as a person and how you approach your day to day life. I started learning Tae Kwon Do from Master Ahn around 4 years ago when I moved to Frisco. Prior to…read morethat, I had been learning Karate from a different studio for about 7 years. It wasn't until I stepped foot in Ahn's Tae Kwon Do for the first time that I realized what a real martial arts education was about. Master Ahn is a real 6th degree black belt verified by the World Taekwondo Headquarters in South Korea, and he has dedicated his life to his craft. As a result, his school is not one of those "belt factories," and every single one of his students earn their ranks. He is not unnecessarily tough on any of his students, but he also will not advance anyone to the next belt if he does not believe they are ready. Classes are structured in a way so that you improve your strength, technique, flexibility, and stamina all at the same time. I personally felt that I improved more in my first year with Master Ahn than I did in all 7 years at my previous school. I also feel that the self-defense Master Ahn teaches is much more practical and intuitive than the over-the-top, flamboyant movements taught at many other schools. In addition to being an amazing Tae Kwon Do instructor, Master Ahn is a caring and compassionate person who you can talk to about anything. When I left for college a few months ago, he would periodically message me to ask how I was doing and talk about what was going on in my life. I have always felt like I could rely on him for support, and you do not come across people like that very often. Ahn's Tae Kwon Do Institute is among the best schools in the DFW area, and I would highly recommend that anyone who is even slightly interested in learning this martial art give him a call and try out one of his classes. You will not regret it.

Unfair Treatment & Unethical Charges - Urgent Resolution Needed…read more I feel completely taken advantage of by Master Kang's martial arts program. As a single mother of three, I was looking for a safe and reliable aftercare solution for my children. When I enrolled my 6-, 7-, and 8-year-olds, Master Kang promised me a "discounted price" and a "free uniform." However, I quickly realized that the hidden costs--belt tests, miscellaneous fees, and other unexpected expenses--added up significantly. From the start, I made it clear that I would be unable to stay in class with my children due to my work schedule. Master Kang assured me that they would be watched after their lessons. Yet, on multiple occasions, I arrived to find my 6-, 7-, and 8-year-olds outside the dojo, completely unattended and unsupervised. This was not only irresponsible but also dangerous. I trusted this program to provide structure and safety for my children, but instead, I found them running around unsupervised, putting them at risk. Another issue arose with the attendance stickers that are given out to eventually earn achievement medals. Since I wasn't present, Master Kang would hand these stickers directly to my children, who, as small kids naturally do, often lost them before I arrived. When I asked for replacements, he refused, saying they were "too expensive" because they were imported. How is it acceptable to deny a child a simple sticker, knowing they are young and likely to misplace it? This lack of compassion and flexibility was incredibly frustrating. Then, life took a turn. I lost my job and could no longer afford the program. I informed Master Kang and requested to cancel my membership, explaining that I had to move out of state. The school demanded proof of my move, so I provided a lease and a utility bill. However, they rejected my documentation over a minor technicality--listing my name at my new address still tied to my old driver's license. Despite my best efforts, they refused to accept even my utility start-of-service notice as valid proof. How was I supposed to provide a finalized bill for a future address before even moving in? This requirement is not only unreasonable but feels like an intentional barrier to keep charging me. Now, they continue to bill me, even though I have done everything in my power to prove that I have moved and can no longer attend. At this point, I feel deceived, exploited, and robbed in broad daylight. Where is the integrity? Where is the humanity? Master Kang is a businessman and a family man--yet he is treating a struggling mother with zero empathy, prioritizing profits over basic fairness. I am demanding that my membership be canceled immediately. I refuse to pay for a service I cannot use, especially one that has already failed to provide the safe environment I was promised. If this matter is not resolved, I will have no choice but to escalate this through consumer protection agencies, public reviews, and legal channels. I hope Master Kang and his team choose to do the right thing.
