I booked Golden Grip Gymnastics about six weeks before my son's 3rd birthday. They were so much cheaper than everywhere else in the area, but my husband and I checked out the gym when we put down the deposit so I felt confident that the kids would at least have fun if nothing else! I had planned to bring my own cake and have pizza delivered, and although GGG provides tablecloths, plates, napkins, etc., I brought my own because I wanted everything to follow the theme of the party. We had the whole huge gym to ourselves. The gymnastics area was a BLAST for the kids (especially the foam pit), and then Corbyn led a group dancing game and we took photos of all the kids together (a great idea and something I never would have thought of to do!). The GGG team took care of setting up, handling the kids, handing out pizza and cake, and cleaning up. Corbyn set everything up on the tables, but was totally cool with me rearranging some things in order to make room for the pizza.  My review is not doing justice to the amount of hard work the GGG team put in and how much fun the kids had. I could not give a stronger recommendation for Golden Grip as a birthday party venue. Such a great experience, and depending on my son's interests next year, we'll probably plan to be back!

I had the privilege to observe a couple of classes in a great holding area for the parents and visitors. They have all the equipment you'd expect in a world-class gymnastics space, I almost wanted to go out there and do some of it myself but couldn't upstage those starry-eyed kids! As I understand it they also train the older kids who are Olympic hopefuls and have garnered some major awards in the various competitions across the state. When a friend told us about Best Gymnastics and why they liked it so much it sounded like the perfect balance for us. We checked out the website and found the first class is free! Quick Facts Parents want to know.... * The classes are based on levels of experience (1,2, 3 and so on) and most levels are offered each day so you can usually find the day and time that fits your schedule best. They days/times do fill up, but kids move around or graduate up a level so if at first the day or time you want isn't available, check back the next month as a spot may open up (that's what happened for us). * We've been at Best Gymnastics about a month now and my daughter is learning so much. The coaches are firm but kind so the students actually learn and don't just goof off. They have so much fun while learning great skills. *Parents can wait and watch. The entire gym is open so there is no hidden space you can't see your child. *There are mostly folding chairs to sit in but a handful or so high chairs are seated at a long table if you need to bring a computer. There is free wifi, a drink and snack vending machine and they keep it a little chilled so bring a coat. ---Our Experience---- When we arrived it was obvious where to check-in and we were greeted so kindly. We were shown to the cubbies where students place shoes, socks, jackets and water bottles. Then our daughter's coach came over to introduce herself and show her to the group of kiddos waiting for their class. Our daughter had a smile plastered on her face the entire time. The older kids program looks great and I especially like the bell located in the middle of the gym that the gymnast gets to ring when they master a skill for the first time. Great motivation! I am particularly impressed with the Tiny Tots classes. That program is outstanding! I have a very shy and timid little girl that easily becomes clingy, but somehow Coach Ethan got her to join the class. She happily joins his classes, but I was interested to see what would happen on that one day he was not there. Other coaches quickly stepped up with encouragement and she joined her class. After the initial warmup to music the class divides into two groups and each goes to a different station or the trampolines before switching. Each station just looks like fun activities to the kids, but each 'fun' activity is designed to teach a very specific skill. Each 'fun' activity is first demonstrated by the coach, but big picture cues beside each piece of equipment also instructs. When the coach observes a child skipping a skill or not completing it correctly, they will assist or give extra instruction. I notice that the assistance is as minimal as needed since the goal is for them to achieve independence. The station's setup changes each week. After a class, the coaches often chat with a parent about a skill that was mastered or improved by their child. I have seen improvement in core strength, balance, stretching and confidence, to name a few.

First, communication was incredibly difficult. I don't think they have anyone actually in charge of birthday parties because I sent several emails that they just never responded to, etc. Second, I paid to rent out the entire gym for 2 hours (plus a 30 minute setup). When I got there to set up, a cheer team was still there so their stuff was all over the tables in the party room, etc. That wasn't a huge deal, as they asked them to move it and they did. But then, my party time came and went and the ENTIRE CHEER TEAM was still in the gym with hot flat irons and makeup "getting ready for a competition" - this is the gym that I paid to exclusively rent out. And I had 25 four year olds running back and forth through a bunch of cheerleaders doing their hair with hot tools. It was dangerous, incredibly rude, and not what I paid for. The two young coaches running our party did their best, but I don't think they felt like they could make the cheer team move. So they stayed there for nearly half my party, even staying for about 15 minutes after I very expressly told them they were in a space that I rented and they needed to move. There are tons of dance studios with mirrors and other spaces besides the gym (that I paid for) where they could have done their hair and makeup, so this was not a situation where kicking them out would have left them with nowhere to go. Overall, it was just additional stress that was completely unnecessary. I thought that Rogue would call me to collect the rest of the money and that I could express these concerns to them then, but no one ever did - they just ran my card. And of course, true to form, when I tried to call, they didn't answer. So I am leaving this review in the hopes that they fix their birthday party organization and make it clear to their cheer teams that when someone has rented space for exclusive use, that means it's not a good place to do your hair and makeup (I think that's pretty obvious, but I guess cheer moms don't). Without the organizational issues, this would be an awesome place for birthday parties and we would love to go back! But with the issues, we won't be.

I also appreciate that the radio they play here has family friendly music unlike some gyms I've visited. This area also connects to a jogging/ biking trail going to Oak Point/ Bob Woodruff. It's a great launching point for an active adventure!
