Attending a birthday party.

Attended a birthday party. I appreciated kids went swimming before eating for the party. I do wish they offered more seating options for parents watching and not swimming.

The Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium is a great place to take kids. This facility offers swimming lessons (group/private), aquatic fitness classes, gym, yoga classes, hot tub, rooms for private parties, rock climbing and so on. Hours of operation are Mon-Thurs, 5am- 9pm, Friday, 5am-8pm, Saturday, 8am-6 pm and Sunday, 1-6pm. I take my son here for swimming lessons during Summer break. He loves being in the water so the 30 min lessons aren't long enough for him :) Therefore, we occasionally go on the weekends as well. Their Trances feed are $4 for youth/2 yrs and under free/$5 for adults/$3 for seniors . I personally like that the pool is indoors because we all know how the Texas heat can be a bit too much at times. Their instructors are good at what they do and the swimming lessons are very affordable especially if you plan on enrolling your child for several set of lessons. On the contrary, the front desk and the pool supervisors are lacking in courtesy and consistency both of which I appreciate about any business or facility. So hopefully the management works on improving in the near future. As far as cleanliness goes, it's a public pool so it wouldn't be fair to expect squeaky clean conditions. Try to go in early to get the most out of it.

Great place to bring kids! Safe and clean. Non residents are welcome as well. I brought my friends kids for some play time and they so loved it and wanted to come back soon!

Enjoying the teacup waterfall.

This is a wonderful place for a family. When my grandson was young we went often. Clean, fun and welcoming. Wish every community had one.

Do they have child care here? e.g. want to swim, drop off 2 year old for 30 mins sort of thing? Thanks!

Paige's Swim School

Ms. Paige is AMAZING! The absolute best swim instructor in the DFW area…read more I chose Paige's Swim School three years ago for my two children who had already failed to learn with another instructor in the area. I had my reservations that anyone would be able to break my eldest of her extreme fear of water or my youngest of her timidity. But, with her patience and persistence, Ms. Paige had them enjoying the water in no time! We have been swimming year-round with her for the past three years. Not because my children haven't learned how to swim, but because the LOVE it! Paige is unique in that she teaches each child as an individual, working with their own personality style and skill level. Over the years I have seen her interact with many different children. She has a gift with special needs kids. She can accomodate unusual requests, like blending groups of swimmers so that siblings and friends can be in the same class, if desired. To me, learning to swim is as important as wearing a seat belt. It is a life-saving skill every child needs to learn. Ms. Paige will not only teach your child how to stay safe around water, but she will teach him/her to love swimming.

She is gentle and takes each child's fears and needs into consideration when teaching. She was able to take my "fear of the water" kiddo and turn him into a kid that swims the length of the pool! I would highly recommend Paige if you are looking for a place to get your kids in the pool.

We've tried several swim schools in the area, and this one is by far the best. The instructors truly pay attention to each child's progress and make sure they're developing the skills needed to confidently move up to the next level. I completely trust the instructors, which gives me such peace of mind. Highly recommend!

While we don't do weekly lessons at Emler any longer, I was pleased to find their daily swim lessons available for the summer. I looked in May and June and was delighted they had so many MORNING options. I booked three separate weeks of dailies for my daughter. The online registration was easy & simply. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. During the first week my daughter "graduated" to the next level and we needed to change the remaining lessons, but the front desk handled it all and made the process very smooth. My daughter was fortunate enough to have Angel as her instructor for all three weeks and she was great with all the kids in her class and did a great job communicating with us parents. I would definitely recommend Emler to anyone looking for weekly, monthly or daily swim classes.

She even said, it's easier to teach children and while this may be factual the context of the comment had a negative impact to the hearer. Her price point was fair, the pool is small and not deep so difficult to learn things like treading water etc... great location in Rockwall and she was oddly pleasant what i mean is she seemed a bit uncomfortable I'm not sure if this is her innate demeanor or she was uncomfortable around specific types of people, not certain just and observation.

At least one area is always in the shade. -We work with Kale. Since he is also a school teacher, he understands how to be calm and encouraging, yet firm and disciplined. We have never had Anne as our instructor, but she handles the business end of it, and has always been friendly and organized. I think very highly of their character. -Students swim for the ENTIRE thirty minutes. They never waste time sitting on the step waiting for someone else to take a turn. ***This is very different from the large swim school we tried last year. The classes were so big that only 10-15 minutes was spent swimming. The rest of the time was spent sitting on the step waiting for the other kids to take their turns. - While the instructor (Kale) works with one child privately, he gives the other child an assignment or task to work on independently. Examples of independent tasks for a beginner: putting face underwater on the step to grab fish; wearing a flotation device to practice scooping; and using a barbell to kick from one side of the pool to the other. -The price is very reasonable. It only cost $10 more for a semi-private class here (only 2 students in the class) than a group class with 6 students at a large swim school. Worth it.

Life Time - Welcome to the Club

I have been a member of Lifetime Fitness for over 20 years (based at the Plano and Allen…read morefacilities) For a place that calls itself an "Athletic Country Club" with the continually increasing prices to match, this place does not live up to the moniker. In particular, as a customer of the Allen Spa I have never understood why the spa did not have it's own bathroom facility. Massages, facials, and hair appointments frequently take a while. It is reasonable that someone would want to use the restroom before, during or after a service. The idea that you have to walk across the entire facility to the locker rooms for their 5 aged and sad looking stalls in the ladies locker room seemed ridiculous and potentially embarrassing. So the "brilliant" answer was using the much closer "family" bathroom in the "family" locker room. That was workable, but certainly not a great answer. And now they have decided that Spa clients are no longer allowed to use the "family" bathroom. I do not know the real reasons why, but I assume it has something to do with not being a "family." Locked out! So we are now fully expected to trek our foiled, caped and oily bodies across the very large and very public facility to those previously mentioned locker rooms. I know of no country club that would expect its members to parade around in such a manner, nor inconvenience their hard working stylists and therapists with a bathroom so very far away. I really wish the Lifetime would fix this situation. It makes visiting the Spa stressful rather than Zenlike and peaceful....which is how a spa should feel.

I trained with Anna Hubbard and honestly she is probably the rudest person I have ever came into contact with. She didn't pay attention to me while I was performing an exercise, she made rude and amuse comments about OTHER members (almost making fun of the way they were exercising), and she had this whole attitude towards me like she was BETTER than me. I first thought it was my imagination but after speaking with several other members regarding my experience they only CONFIRMED my HORRIBLE experience. I never give bad reviews but after almost leaving in tears because she commented on my weight and how there was no wonder why I am the size I am, I will NEVER be visiting this location again.

I am absolutely appalled that they could do this to a 3 year old child. He had absolutely no idea what was going on. What if there had been a fire? Would they just leave my child locked in that bathroom? What if he had fallen down? Would they just leave him by himself bleeding until they found me?! I have no confidence that Apex Center can take care of children after what I just saw. I will be reporting this to the state. Absolutely negligent! I would never recommend the Kid Care here. Absolutely appalling. He has not stopped crying and has snot in his hair, and in his eyebrows from being left in that bathroom scared and alone. He was shaking and screaming with snot falling to the floor --- that's how I found my baby! No workers near the door, no one checking on my 3 year old! I am appalled and my child was traumatized. Childcare should not be offered here if this is what they do to 3 year olds. Reporting to the state.
