Fantastic program! Just enrolled my 4 yr old almost 2 months ago after many unsuccessful attempts at working with her in our own pool. She was deathly afraid of the water and while I appreciated her having some fear of the pool (she. She can't swim) it was also hindering our ability to move forward in any kind of teaching. We signed up at emler and got my little one smiling, laughing and splashing around in class. Ms Ivette (hope that's spelled right!!) is awesome! They also keep communication completely open and the deck manager is always around and giving updates and talks about the progression moving forward. The staff here is wonderful. They teach kids of all ages and skill levels and develop them into better swimmers at each one's own pace. While this isn't one of Emler's newer facilities, everything is clean and safe. Classes are not cheap (~$450/semester = $25/class) but the cost is worth the skills and teaching your children will receive. read more

We have both of our kids at Emler's swim & love it. The manager, Chris, along with his staff are very helpful, accommodating and always make sure that the kids are safe regardless what is going on. The swim environment is comfortable and friendly and the facility is well taken care of. My kids enjoy going to swim practice (4yr old & 2yr old). My son was apprehensive when going under the water, the staff worked their magic and now he is much more comfortable in the water. My daughter is now a "mermaid" in the water and was so proud of herself when she passed a public pool swim test at 4 years old. Overall, my family's experience at Emler's Plano has been positive, we highly recommended this swim school for anyone wanting to learn to swim or improve swim skills. read more

Can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. My son has been going here for the past three years and has turned him into a great swimmer. I wouldn't think this would have been possible if it weren't for Emler. When my son first started learning how to swim, other schools couldn't even get him to blow bubbles in the pool. Three years later and he's mastering the backstroke. For the younger classes, the instructors reward the kids with M&M's for each attempt at the skill they're learning. This bribery definitely works for those who love M&M's like my son. As they get older the M&M's come less frequently, which makes sense as they are no longer afraid of the water. I highly recommend taking your child to Emler to learn how to swim. read more

My son has been going here for over a year now and they have done a wonderful job with him. He is high energy and quite a handful sometimes but his instructor focused all his energy into what he needed to do and he is swimming great for his age now. At 4 years old he already knows two strokes and can swim in a pool safely with adult supervision of course. It also opens him up to a whole world of fun like pool party's and aquatic theme parks. He was also ready for the beach when we went this summer. The facilities are clean an warm and they know how to work with all kinds of kids from what we have seen. Would highly recommend getting your kiddo an early start and going with a professional school like Emler. read more

We have been there with my daughter Waard and Aya for about a week and we live it so far. We loved the fast track where you can do 2 weeks of daily classes that give the kids the ability to be consistent and to learn swimming quickly. Unfortunately they don't have these classes for younger than 3 years. We enjoyed being there so far! read more

Went here for niece's 4th birthday party. You can rent out a private room for 2 hr parties. It held about 15 kids and their parents plus a few other family members. It was kinda cramped but at least had a big window to the parking lot and a window to the pool so didn't feel too claustrophobic. the kids enjoyed the pool. It's indoors and heated, which is good for the kids I guess but felt like a sauna. It was big enough for all the kids, and they have a lot of floatation toys and lifejackets for kids who can't swim. They also have a big slide, which the kids loved. There are two teen lifeguards, who later help with the party if you need them to carry stuff from/to the car or take out the trash. My sister-in-law said she used a groupon but probably wouldn't have paid the full rate to rent the place. 2 hours was long enough for the kids to swim for an hour, then have some snacks and cakes for about 50 min, then clean everything up and take all the gifts to the car. There wasn't enough time to open the gifts, but you could probably squeeze it in with fewer people. read more

All three of my girls learned to swim here (we just came to watch my youngest this morning over Thanksgiving break). They do a really great job getting kids comfortable in the water and teaching them to tread water, swim and basic survival skills. We have generally pulled the kids when they had basic swim proficiency since they also learn in our pool. I would personally recommend waiting till around 18 months unless they have some very strong aversion to water you want to cure them of. read more

My daughter, who had never taken swim lessons in her three years, just finished a two-week (10 lessons) Aquatot session, where she was taught the skills of swimming five feet, getting to the nearest side and out of the pool (great safety technique), swimming with her head down for 10 seconds and back floating. Not only did she learn these skills in the ten lessons, but she swam closer to 10 feet by the end. That was on Friday. Monday, just a few days later, she was swimming across a small pool and taking a breath in the middle as needed. I was extremely pleased with the results of the lessons. She started in a class of two that grew to three. That day they asked if we would like to switch to a class that had one student just half an hour earlier, so we did this. It was wonderful to have a two-person class, as my daughter got plenty of swim time but still learned to take turns. The limit for the class is four children, so they are never very large. When a student needed extra attention, there was someone available to jump in and help. Because we switched classes my daughter had two different instructors. They were also training a new instructor, so we saw three different instructors, and all were wonderful with the children. They all handled various behavioral concerns (being afraid, getting too excited, etc.) very well. I liked the setup of the pool. There was a large wall of windows between the swim areas and the viewing areas with no wall to block the view. There was plenty of space for everyone to sit and see. The pool area itself is very warm and humid. If I had a child with severe asthma, I might be concerned, but it keeps the kids warm whether they are wet, dry, in the pool, or out of it. The changing area was never crowded and is separate from the toilets, making clean up easy. They offered goggles for those who did not bring them as well as everything we needed but the swim suit and a towel. The school is located in an angled strip mall, and we were always able to get fairly close parking, if not right up front. It's in the center of the "V", so you won't see it from the street, but there is a strip lot sign off Park. It comes up fast, as the area is surrounded by residential areas, so keep your eyes ready when you hit Park and Ohio. read more

Unfortunately I cannot give this swim school a good rating as we did not have a positive experience. My daughter originally started swim classes at the Jim Montgomery swim school and it was amazing! After taking a break from that school and being put on a long wait list for a weekend class, we decided to give Emler a try. We should have visited the school prior to paying for an entire season upfront because we would not have signed up after seeing the pool! They have 2 and the smaller pool is so small, has terrible lighting and so dirty! There is barely any room for parents to stand by the pool and you have to try not to step on cockroaches which surround the pool! It's appalling. The last straw for me with this school was when my daughter had to miss the last class of the semester due being sick. We were told that we were not allowed to sign up for a make up class unless we signed up for the fall semester which is a 20 class semester that you have to pay for upfront! Also, once you do sign up for a semester, you can't get out of it. We attempted and were not allowed but could switch to a different Emler school (the frisco schools look to be so much nicer!) The only reason I am giving this school 2 stars instead of 1 is because we really liked one of the teachers she had. Several other swim schools like Jim Montgomery and Big Blue do not make you commit to an entire semester up front. You can quit at any time with a 30 day notice. I would highly recommend one of those schools instead! read more

We went from my then 4 year old son crying and not wanting to go to swim, wouldn't even put his face in the water, to a year later in advanced swim class and he can swim all the way across an adult pool with ease and confidence. He dives for rings and jumps in like a pro. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Emler. I recommend it to all my friends! I also have a 2 year old in Emler, and he's been in Emler since he was a baby and he loves it! The confidence and skills they teach are all so important and they do it in a fun way. My kids love Emler and so do I!!! In addition to that the staff is always super nice and makes an effort to know all of us by name. read more

LOVE Emler of Plano. My daughter has turned into a fish. At the age of three because of the excellent teaching she was able to jump off the diving board and swim to the end of the pool. Now at 4 she can dive to retrieve things in the deep end, float on her back, and swim the whole length of the pool. I am amazed that they were able to teach her all of that. Started my son who just turned one because they did such a good job with my daughter. I must add I live in Wylie and there is a sachse location about five minutes down the road. But because of the excellent teacher my daughter has been with since day one I will travel 30 minutes once a week. Totally worth it. read more

This place is awesome! My son literally shakes with excitement when we walk in! We've been in water babies for 2 months now and my LO confidence in the water has already improved so much. This place is amazing! The instructors are knowledgeable and very friendly. When our child hit a rough phase of separation anxiety our teacher worked with us and assured us it would pass, and I liked that they gave my kiddo more time to adjust to changes. When my son went through a stage of crying and being shy, they took him aside and did a private class to make him feel comfortable. Our son did great for almost three years, but he had a young guy take over as his teacher when he moved up to a more advanced class. They guy didn't really care for him. We all noticed, and my son got to where he didn't want to go to lesssons anymore. We asked to change teachers for 4 straight weeks, but they said nothing was available. On "boat safety week" our son was scared of the boat and started crying. The teacher lost his temper and threw him into the boat screaming and crying. Then he picked up another kid and threw him on top of our son. We got in there as fast as we could to get him out. When we asked for a refund, they said that all we could have was private lessons for the rest of the semester. Of course we said no way, so they just kept our money. We are at Aqua Tots now. Wish we never heard of emlers. read more

I was impressed initially as my 6 yr old learned alot and got over the fear threshold and things progressed nicely and the meetings at the end were great so I could focus on his weaknesses. Last class I worked late so had a make-up class which I've done before with no issue. This time they charged an extra 5 dollars, not a big deal but different from before. The day of the make-up class my son got sent home for covid like symptoms, I got him to the Dr but no test results for a day, so to air on the side of caution I canceled his make-up day and asked when I could reschedule. Answer was never we just rolled into a new semester so you will have to enroll again for that make up class. So I asked for a refund, nope we'll give you a 5 dollar credit on next semester. Y'all did great Emler till the end. I'm a sole custody Dad which runs a company, you screwed up over a minimal $5. I'm not upset over the $5 I'm upset over their ethics and policies as I canceled the second I knew we couldn't make it for safety reasons read more

We have been very happy with our experience at Emler Plano. We have enrolled our four-year-old in both private and group lessons, and have seen some wonderful progress in her swimming skills. The instructors are terrific! They get results, but in a way that is fun and encouraging for the child. Parents can watch the class through glass in a comfortable room, and they have an opportunity at the end of class to enter the pool area and see a skill their child has been working on. During peak times, the pools are pretty busy, and we have found that for our easily distracted child, non-peak times work best. Emler's management and instructors have been great at helping us find the right class for our child. read more

I love the teaching method because it seems to really work. The pool water is warm. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it is so packed on the weekends that there is no place to change the kids and no parking. If possible, do a weekeday class. We had our first trial class, my child did not know how to swim, she was scared and wanted to get out of the pool, the instructor took her out about 4 feet and said if you want your mom you'll have to swim to her!!! Never been back! I guess if you are looking for survival skills and not actually learning to swim, it's a fine place. I could not have asked for a better experience with swimming lessons for my daughter! We first went in just to see what it was like and ask for some information. From the very first visit to now, being a little more than halfway through the semester it has been nothing short of amazing! Every single staff member and instructor has always been so polite and extremely friendly. Not to mention we have an amazing swim instructor for our daughter! Her name is Ana. My daughter adores her. She has been a pleasure to see and work with each week. My daughter is extremely shy, but Ana has developed an incredible relationship with her. We are in the waterbabies class, so I'm in the water as well. It has been so fun to see their interaction with one another. It is easy to see that not only Ana, but the other swim instructors as well, have a genuine passion and care for working with these children and helping them learn to be confident in the water. Have done baby classes through 4 yr old classes. Kids love them and are quite good swimmers. New 2yo cried when her first lesson in the water without me was over because she was having so much fun.
