Even though my son had taken Water Babies and Advanced Aqua Tots for the last two summers he is…read morestill very afraid of the water. We started off this school year with an Advanced Aqua Tots class and after about 6 classes I was ready to throw in the towel. I knew I would be doing him a disservice in the long run by taking him out of swim but the constant screaming during the class was getting to me. He would even run from me when it was time to get his swim suit on and there wasn't much improvement during the 15 minute car ride to Emler. We tried switching teachers and classes but nothing worked. I was then approached by the manager, Mrs. Devon and she recommended private classes. To start off she did two classes with my son and then Ms. Emily stepped in. What a transformation my son has made. When I tell him it is time to go to swim he starts jumping up and down and after one lesson he even got upset because it was time to leave. My son is not the same "swimmer" he was a month ago and it is amazing to see Ms. Emily dial into the things that he likes and in return we get results. Her patience and kindness has been amazing. I can see the trust that my son has for her and that is huge coming from a kid that has a fear of drowning. I can't thank Mrs. Devon and Ms. Emily enough for their efforts as I was on the brink of quitting. Not only was my son screaming for the entire 30 minutes, I was trying to juggle a busy toddler. My nerves were shot. I am forever grateful for Mrs. Devon and Ms. Emily as well as the rest of the staff at Emler who have worked with my son.

We canceled our membership the same day with the manager (possibly the owner), who assured us it was handled--yet Emler kept charging us for two more months. I expect professionalism and accountability from any company working with infants. Instead, we were met with poor class management and unacceptable billing practices. We moved to a different swim school and have had none of these issues. Parents: be cautious--do not provide your financial information unless you're prepared to fight charges after you stop attending.

Classes were ok, I'm an adult learning to swim I don't feel Ann has as much patients with adults as…read moreshe has with children. She even said, it's easier to teach children and while this may be factual the context of the comment had a negative impact to the hearer. Her price point was fair, the pool is small and not deep so difficult to learn things like treading water etc... great location in Rockwall and she was oddly pleasant what i mean is she seemed a bit uncomfortable I'm not sure if this is her innate demeanor or she was uncomfortable around specific types of people, not certain just and observation.

We love Ann's Swim Class! Some of the things we like:…read more -Lessons are semi-private, meaning there are only 2 kids in the class. -Classes are held in a private residential pool that is clean and shaded. -There are three different seating areas where parents/families can sit to watch the lesson. At least one area is always in the shade. -We work with Kale. Since he is also a school teacher, he understands how to be calm and encouraging, yet firm and disciplined. We have never had Anne as our instructor, but she handles the business end of it, and has always been friendly and organized. I think very highly of their character. -Students swim for the ENTIRE thirty minutes. They never waste time sitting on the step waiting for someone else to take a turn. ***This is very different from the large swim school we tried last year. The classes were so big that only 10-15 minutes was spent swimming. The rest of the time was spent sitting on the step waiting for the other kids to take their turns. - While the instructor (Kale) works with one child privately, he gives the other child an assignment or task to work on independently. Examples of independent tasks for a beginner: putting face underwater on the step to grab fish; wearing a flotation device to practice scooping; and using a barbell to kick from one side of the pool to the other. -The price is very reasonable. It only cost $10 more for a semi-private class here (only 2 students in the class) than a group class with 6 students at a large swim school. Worth it.

I wanted to take my time before posting this review to make sure I had time for my feelings to…read moresettle and to give the manager and owner time and the opportunity to fix my issues. After speaking with both of them and the owner saying in his own words to me "I can see why you are so upset I would be furious if that happened to me and my child" and then not fixing my issue - I feel as though I have a clear conscience leaving this review. I have an almost 3 year old who has taken group and private lessons at this facility. I felt the 1-2 year old slot was way below his level, but he wasn't able to do the 3 year old classes due to him needing more one in one attention. I agree with the assessment of him being taught the curriculum of the next level one on one until he was emotionally more mature and wouldn't be a distraction to other children in class. I certainly wouldn't want him to be the reason other kids didn't get the time they paid for because he isn't capable of standing and waiting his turn. Back to the reason for me being so disappointed and displeased with my overall experiences with Blast... on two different occasions my son showed up for preplanned private class makeups and on both occasions we were turned away because of a "front desk error" per their words where they double booked it. On both occasions my child was booked first and they were unable or unwilling to let him have his lesson and chose to let the other people take his spot. After the first occasion I was upset and asked to drop- the manager called me to smooth it over and suggested she refund me rather than reschedule. I agreed to this. Back in November the same thing happens again. I do not feel the front desk is competent to schedule, to direct families and control who is in the pool in a fair way and I feel their attitudes are accusatory, rude and completely unprofessional and unapologetic. They act as if I am out of line in asking for a refund when I have been mistreated and my son has been mistreated more than once. I have also experienced several rescheduling of days and several instructors in a short period of time. When new instructors came along I gave feedback that I didn't want to get anyone in trouble but that it seemed they had no idea how his class was to be structured at first. When you are paying almost $300 a month for private lessons- I feel like there should have been more training and an understanding before switching instructors. These are my top two reasons for my one star review. I wish I could have found a happy resolution but again - I spoke to both several times and never once got an apology. I hope if you go here you have a better experience. Also be warned or maybe just good to know that the manager is the mother of one of the main front desk people ... so when they say I'm calling the manager .... Don't expect the manager or mother to side with you - at least that's been my experience.

I came and I saw how this swim school operates and I was impressed. We enrolled right away. Classes are really small and the teachers give great personalized instruction to each kid. My girl, who was afraid to put her face in the water, went from hanging on the side of the pool to swimming 1/2 way across the width of the pool (without floaties or help!) within a matter of weeks. They do a temp check upon entering the school for kids and parents alike and have spaced out chairs for parent viewing. And they are constantly cleaning the space. We love coming here to swim!

It is right off of 121 and is super convenient, no matter where you are coming from. Cleanliness: 5/5. A lot of pools and schools can sometimes feel cluttered. Every time I've been everything has been very organized. Its a swim school so obviously there will be water in common areas near the pool. I am so grateful that they have adult swimming classes. I do wish they had alternative time options, but just the fact they have this is a 5/5 for me. The staff and instructors are all very friendly. Everyone always seems to have a smile on their face which makes getting into a pool a little less anxious. I have never had any issues with customer service. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for swim lessons, regardless if it is for adults or kids! You will not be disappointed!

My oldest we have seen regress in swim since we moved here. He's been doing the same skills for two years! No changes or progression to more advanced skills. I also never get updates other than what I'm told at the end of class, which is literally the same thing each time. There's a high turn over for instructors here. If they actually show up to class they are late or unprepared. My "favorite" was the one who showed up late and laughed about the fact that she was late because she was hung over and slept in. Some of the employees are very unprofessional. They talk about customers within ear shot of other customers. It's incredibly inappropriate and immature. The facility itself is pretty disgusting. The bathrooms always have dead bugs on the floor and they reek of pee. The changing rooms have hair all over them and the drains don't drain well so you're often stuck standing in murky water. They have a new policy about makeups. If you cancel a class and try to make it up, they charge you $15. If THEY cancel your class, you can make it up but you're still charged $15! It's ridiculous the way you are nickel and dimmed. If you're looking for a place to babysit your kid at an expensive cost for 30 minutes, this is the place for you. If you are looking for somewhere that will actually teach your child to swim, I highly recommend going elsewhere

I was able to tag along to one of their classes recently. My daughter really likes the instructors that work with the girls and the time and attention given. I also like that they have a bunch of bright clean restrooms and I like that Emler is in such a nice location. I will say some members of the front desk staff could be more welcoming by taking a few seconds to look up from their computers to greet incoming students, parents and guests.

But, with her patience and persistence, Ms. Paige had them enjoying the water in no time! We have been swimming year-round with her for the past three years. Not because my children haven't learned how to swim, but because the LOVE it! Paige is unique in that she teaches each child as an individual, working with their own personality style and skill level. Over the years I have seen her interact with many different children. She has a gift with special needs kids. She can accomodate unusual requests, like blending groups of swimmers so that siblings and friends can be in the same class, if desired. To me, learning to swim is as important as wearing a seat belt. It is a life-saving skill every child needs to learn. Ms. Paige will not only teach your child how to stay safe around water, but she will teach him/her to love swimming.
