THIS REVIEW IS NOT ABOUT JENNIFER HUMPHREYS BUT ABOUT CREEKSIDE COUNSELING ON FENTON RD:…read moreI was having a mental health emergency with my son who lives with me as well as my granddaughter. I had to cancel my appointment last minute with the therapist that I see weekly as a result I was charged a fifty dollar fee. I've been seeing this therapist weekly for several months as well as a prescriber once a month. I have full coverage health insurance through my employer through United healthcare. Even when I spoke to the therapist Kristy that morning and I let her know about my son's mental emergency in my inability to make my appointment because I had my four-year-old granddaughter. She did not even mention that there would be a fifty dollar cancellation fee. When I logged into the portal is how I was made aware. When I called I was given the run around and told that a manager would be with me. Then I was told that both managers were busy. Then I was told that they could call me tomorrow. I said I would wait but eventually I hung up. I hope as a new business your $50 late cancelation fee doesn't run off all of your business. In my 54 years of life I have NEVER been charged a cancelation fee by a clinic or Dr. I certainly hope the $50 was worth the loss of a patient that was being seen 5 times a month by a therapist and prescriber. Furthermore, I was paying over $50 a month in co-pays. I would be very Leary of a business that thinks it is more cost effective to charge a $50 fee in order to lose thousands of dollars in future therapy. BE VERY CAREFUL THESE ARE NOT SMART PEOPLE. THE MANAGER ELIZABETH GRIMSHAW DID NOT RETURN MY CALL, SHE SENT AN EMAIL ONCE SHE SAW MY REVIEW. THIS IS PART OF HER REPLY, THE GENIUS OF THE GROUP: "We have also received your Google review of our practice and while again, we understand your frustration, we would appreciate it if the situation were represented as it happened. Ms. Sawyer had been working with you for approximately 3 months and we would hope that you could take into consideration that she is following the practice policies and would have still wanted to work with you and provide you with services. The majority of doctor's offices and mental health professionals have no show and late cancellation policies in place; whether they enforce them with you is not known. We will not be issuing a refund of the no show/late cancellation fee charged to you for the missed session on 12/5/2023. We do wish you the best with your mental health and if you would like referrals to another practice please contact our office. " Please be aware, you will be charged. Happy holidays!!

First of all, the front desk only works very limited hours. For quite some time now, if I have to…read morecall to make an appointment it takes, no joke, 1-2 WEEKS to get a response. And once you finally get in contact with them? You're looking at another 2-3 WEEKS before getting in to a counselor. Secondly, the psychiatrist only works Saturdays, and that doesn't work with mine or my child's schedules. Now on to the actual counselor. She's probably fine for adults, but NOT for adolescents/teens. I should have found someone else a looooooong time ago, because this one hasn't truly helped in the slightest. And she has created or tried to create conflict between my teen and his step father (who has been in the picture, providing and helping take care of our son for 80% of his life) on multiple occasions. From telling my son he is right to refer to his step dad as "half a dad", to creating issues surrounding bills we pay, when our teen is wasting electricity (when we already came up with a great compromise, no conflict necessary!), because it's "not much more a month" for my kid to keep doing what he was doing. Look, we live literal PAYCHECK to PAYCHECK. It's great that you don't think more expensive bills are an issue, but with lower income families, it is. Causing unnecessary conflict is shady as hell. Do yourself a favor and find a better counselor for yourself or your loved one.

I'm Valerie Harris, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering telehealth therapy for adults, teens, and couples — including LGBTQ+ individuals and families. My approach is practical, evidence-based, and focused on real change. These aren't just theories — they're approaches that help people build healthier patterns, improve communication, and actually make progress. I also provide comprehensive immigration evaluations for hardship waivers, VAWA, asylum, U-visas, and other cases.
