Flinchy's ticked me off right off the bat. I went to lunch there because I had a gift certificate from Restaurant.com for $25. When I looked at their menu online, I noticed they were kind of pricey so I thought, with this economy, lunch was a better option and we would be more likely to get out with a check around $35.
I told the waitress that I wanted to use a gift cert for my party of three and she asked if I had the $25 gift cert or the $10 one. She said that the $25 gift cert is only to be used on the dinner menu, so if I wanted to use it, I'd have to spring for one of their $25 entrees. Um, no thanks.
So I ordered a cup of Manhattan clam chowder and it seemed to take forever for her to bring it out to me. How hard is it, honey, to ladle some soup into a cup. I know you're not making it from scratch per order! My soup was scalding hot and incredibly salty. My dining companions also had soup-- french onion served in a *tiny* crock for $5 and beef stroganoff, which I have never seen as a soup before.
For lunch, I had a special, an open faced prime rib sandwich that came with a side of frozen french fries that were underdone. Really, some of the bigger ones were still cold in the middle. The portion of meat was good. I can't complain about that at all. I can complain that it was a gristly, fatty, unpleasant bit of meat.
My friends had a buffalo chicken wrap, which was reportedly "good" and spinach/artichoke dip which looked okay but the portion was really small.
That's the food... let's talk about the service. Some guy in the restaurant (a waiter? a bus boy?) recognized one of my friends as someone that he went to high school with. He proceeded to stand over our table talking to her for half an hour, thus keeping me from talking to my friend and excluding two people at the table. It was incredibly rude. If I were a manager there, I would have chewed him out. Our waitress was really slow bringing drinks, taking orders, bringing food, refilling soda. She kept letting people out a side door that was marked "not an exit." it wouldn't be a problem to me normally, but the day were were there it was 5 degrees outside and every time the door was opened a blast of arctic air smacked into me. it was oh so pleasant while I was eating.
Lastly, there are far too many tables in too small a space. There wasn't enough room to walk between tables, around all of the elderly people lingering over their lunch.
In summary: crappy service, rude staff, overpriced food, climate control issues.
I won't go back. read more
