I asked for hot sauce, which they no longer leave out for customers. It took several minutes and my tacos were getting cold while I waited. That being said, the bartender was friendly and the beer was super cold. Came for trivia with the wife. Not very crowded...decent menu...a little overpriced IMO. Wife ordered a burger...I got fajitas...we share an app of potato skins. Skins: good; came quickly; served hot Burger: she enjoyed it...cooked properly Fajitas: when my wife's food came and the runner looked at me and said "didn't you order anything?" I knew I was in for it. A few minutes later, the waitress came by and told me that "the computer didn't save my order." She said she'd put it right in. It was about 15 minutes until I got my food and my wife was done eating already. However, the fajitas were very good. Nice sized portion. I got steak and chicken. She did a pretty good job keeping up with refills on my wife's soda and my coffee. Overall...OK. Nothing great. Other than the mishap with my order, they did an average job. Today was my first time going to Arooga's in a while, and I honestly forgot what it's like . I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the pizza with fries and the fries were perfectly salted and the pizza had the perfect balance of sauce and cheese. There is football or something football related playing on every screen, so if you get bored while waiting you can watch that. The reason I gave it a 4 star review and not a 5 star is because every now and then a little droplet of water will fall from the ceiling which is understandably annoying. We popped in here at 9:30 pm because literally everything else around us was closed. They are understaffed, so you seat yourself at the bar or surrounding tables. Gage (the bartender) came and took our drink and dinner orders as soon as we sat down. We started off with the seafood nachos, which had really delicious, hot, fresh tasting shrimp on top. We devoured those before I could even get a picture. The old bay mixed with the cheese was just *chef's kiss*. For our entrees we decided to try the donut burger, because we've never been anywhere that has offered that before, as well as 10 original wings in the buffaque (BBQ mixed with Buffalo) sauce. I have only had bad experiences with wings so far in PA, but these were good. They weren't huge, but they were crispy, well sauced (the sauce had a really nice kick to it), and were hot. The donut burger was interesting because you got the sweet sugar from the donut first and then the bacon and cheese and burger after. We'd order that again as well. The ambiance is nice, there's lots of TVs showing any game imaginable. Make friends with the bartenders- they're really nice and can order suggestions. We will definitely be back. read more

Came here for a large group. Ordered around 7:15, food came out at 8:19, so definitely consider that for a group of 15. When the food did come out, other servers did help to distribute. Service was very slow, the waitress was more interested in getting drinks in. Otherwise, the food was decent. I enjoyed my Arooga burger, my husband enjoyed his Gouda burger, my kid enjoyed her Mac n cheese, the quesadilla was a miss. I'm only reviewing the food, as we had it delivered and dropped off at the doorstep by GrubHub. Everything we ordered was delicious! My kids and I sampled each other's food and were pleasantly surprised at how our suggestions and options were met. Wasn't too sure on portion sizes but they were decent and decently priced. This is the first time that I ever had wings made with white meat! Now, I know what you're saying, "Wings Can't be made with white meat." But I say, "They have to be made with white meat. We were there this evening. The service was horrific, with plenty of employees standing around Hi-Fivieng eachother. It took 15 minutes to place a drink order, restaurant was not crowded. Ordered an appetizer, which came out and was finished, wait 10 minutes to order the food. It took another 20 minutes when we were done to get the check. The only thing that was positive were the side salads. People go out to not cook and have a good experience! I feel like someone stole my money today. I tried to give this place a second chance. Unfortunately they failed again. Our order at the table was very simple. The place was empty. On a Saturday night. I ordered. 5 wings with a dry rub. With celery and blue cheese. I told the waitress no carrots. 25 minutes later I got warm non crispy wing that were more on the dry side. Plus they had the wrong dry rub seasoning on them. It came with 3 pieces of celery and 3 carrots. The other order at the table was a plane cheese burger w / fries old bay on them. The order came out with veggies on it and no old bay on the fries . Both the burger and fries were cooked to order. I did bring this to there attention. ( wing order only) they offered to take it off my bill. Or make me a fresh order etc. I did decline. I was so upset that it would not have mattered. You pay a premium price here. I expected better presentation . Our server was very professional and addressed our situation beyond my satisfaction. Wings were great as in the past, but service really needed to improve. May have been just our table as it seemed others were getting decent service. Food here is always up to snuff. Arooga's is usually a bit pricier than I remember, but it's always been worth it when I go here. Servers are attentive, when they aren't super busy. Never had an issue with the food or the service. Only knocking points for the ambience. It's a bit dark at this location, some of the TVs are warped, discolored, etc. Then again, if you're going to a sports bar, that's probably not uncommon. Menu looked fantastic. Full of unique items that promised robust flavors. Sadly, they didn't live up to the hype. We ordered the the Pepperjack cheese squares, Buffalo pretzel, and a cheesesteak boil. The Pepperjack bites were the best item, but still lacked any real spice or bite you'd expect, more akin to normal cheese sticks. The Buffalo pretzel wasn't well done. Soft, sweet, and doughy, nothing like a pretzel. Topped with Buffalo dip that barley had any flavor. The cheese on top was the only real flavor; there was nothing savory about this dish at all. The cheesecake boli had decent flavor but was doughy and didn't have a good meat to bread ratio. The marinara was watered down and flavorless, and the ranch they charge extra for tasted no better than buttermilk Hidden Valley ranch. The prices are high for such lackluster food. First off I have never eaten a thing from any aroogas, however a friend of mine has been mentioning this "crab pretzle" for a while now and telling me how good it is, I blew it off for a while until tonight. "What is a crab pretzle?" You may ask, is it a crab filled pretzle, a pretzle in the shape of a crab? Neither it's much better, it's a large pretzle topped with crab, cheese and old bay seasoning. If you are a fan of old bay then you'll surely love this pretzle, I'm not a fan of old bay seasoning and I still loved it! The staff were very nice, you pickup your order (to go) at the bar area. The sauce was nonexistent I the wings when they came out. I was going to ask for more sauce but I just wanted to go home. They may have tried to charge me extra anyway.wings were dry. Very dissatisfied. It feels like everytime we go to Aroogas i have to beg to get anything. Silverware, extra napkins,extra sauce that should have come with my meal anyway. Sorely disappointed in this place. I used to love their food and how easy it was to order with them. Tonight, we ordered takeout. The online ordering system was down, so I tried to call. After 3 tries, the phone rang 20 times each call, but no one picked up, so we drove in. We had the order printed out on paper and handed it to the bartender. What we got back wasn't exactly what we ordered. We ordered wings -- and paid extra to have all flats -- but 7 of the 10 wings were legs. Also, we didn't get the celery and carrots, despite putting that on the order. We asked why no one answered the phone or why we couldn't order online. One waitress said she didn't know, but commented that they were "understaffed." (Why would you share that information with the public?) Very unhappy with this place - not worth the visit. read more

I have eaten at many Arooga locations and I have eaten at this one several times. I like the wide variety of food options. I have found some wing sauces I like. My complaint has nothing to do with the food and service. Both of which are always adequate. My problem with this location is the mildew smell all over the TV dining room. The smell is horrible near the windows. You can even smell it on the other side of the room. They must have had some type of water leak. I cannot eat there again. The first time we ate there and smelled the mildew, we thought it might just be a problem with the table near the window. We sucked it up and gagged through the smell. The second time we were seated in the same vicinity. We asked to be moved due to the smell. They moved us to the center of the dining area. It was better, but we could still smell it. The last time we were again seated next to the window. The smell was overwhelming. We again asked to be moved and they moved us over to the other side. Again, the smell was better but it still ruined the meal. I'm not sure how people stand to eat there with the musty, mildewy smell infiltrating their noses with every bite. Perhaps the clientele live in old houses with wet basements and are used to the smell. As for me, I am going to only eat at other Arooga's from now on. I can't give up their chips with the blue cheese or some of their wing sauces. read more

New location on the Carlisle pike, opened Sunday afternoon. If you've been to any of the other locations around the area, then you know what to expect here. Lots of TV's lots of sporting events on display, lots of brews on their way past your view. Service was pretty quick for our food which was on par with the other Arooga's, not fantastic, not horrible, but something decent to eat while watching football. This location does have Buzztime trivia as well, but finding a television with it on during a game night would probably be murder. Server seemed properly trained and knew what the specials were for their opening. I wish there could be more to add, however since it's a chain, and all alike, nothing really stands out. So like in my previous review, come here for a game and a drink, not quiet intelligent conversation. read more
