Came in with 3 people. Paul the bartender was rude and short. Ask for suggestions got "everything" as a response. GF ordered a tequila and coke, got a shot of tequila w/ coke back (not what she ordered) we were charged for the shot and the soda. Seemed like a sneaky tactic (I know bar business well). 6$ we'll drink ended being 9$. I asked for soda water charges 2$ for it. This might be how they actually do business but I have been in there before and ordered the same exact drinks and wasn't charged this way. Called back to verify and Jimmy (who was nice as can be) replies with "that's what we always do". Maybe it is and that's great but just letting others know. Pretty sure they just don't like new customers and are comfy with their regulars when it's busy. Run your place how you like but we will not be back. Food was nothing exciting but was the only thing that I'd give props too, so great job BOH. We decided to go for lunch today and had not been to Zembie's in a while. First off if you never been there, from the outside you probally would not go it. Not the most inviting store front. Once inside however you are in a quaint little sports bar with lots of wood and high tables with marble tops. The have a very nice sandwich menu with has about every sort of sandwish you can think of all named after Pro athletes. My co workers has a sausage gringer, another had a cheesesteak, a giro and I had a reuben. All came with a generous portion of fries. When we were finished we were all satisfied. As we left we all agreed you never expect to get a sandwish that good from a place like that. Definately a must if you are down on Second street looking for a quick great sandwich. I was in Harrisburg for a meeting. I tried walking down Restaurant Row looking for a good inexpensive dinner. I could not decide where to go, so on the spur of the moment I stopped here. I had suicide wings and a crab cake. The wings are not your run of the mill buffalo wings. They have a very nice flavor that is not just hot. Give them a try. The crab cake was a nice size and actually tasted like crab. The bartender is running the entire place and not breaking a sweat. I would eat here on a regular basis if I were in Harrisburg more frequently. Enjoy! read more

Strike one star for 2 things: smoking and the nasty bathrooms. Other than that, this place is great for drinks, food, friends, and karaoke. And smoking if that's your thing while drinking. I've had many sandwiches and the wings and they're always great. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, although I haven't tried many of the entrees. Finally got the chance to try the food here. My friend and I stopped for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and sat at the bar. Menu is big... had some good choices. I settled on the open faced tuna melt with coleslaw and my friend had a chicken pesto wrap with onion rings. Mine came out with French fries instead of coleslaw. No big deal. We both thought the food was...meh. The wheat bread the tuna melt came on was very soggy and the tuna tasted fishy....more fishy than any other tuna melt I've ever had. I ate half cuz I hate to waste, but that was about all I could get down. My friend said the chicken in her wrap was dry. Sadly we wouldn't eat here again. Pros: Pretty chill atmosphere. Our server Pam was AMAZING. Karaoke was a lot of fun and the people were friendly. Food was average. Cons: 1 server run all tables but she was KILLING IT. Smoking allowed inside Seating at tables was tight. They charge an extra 2% for using your card... it's a damn bar like how the hell else are people paying I hate unnecessary charges and they can def make or break earning a repeat customer. read more

Stopped in on St. Patty's day for lunch and to watch the early college basketball games. I found an empty table I found a seat in the bar area and was greeted shortly after. I ordered a drink then pursued the very vast menu. Within 10 minutes of arriving, I placed my order : 10 hot wings and the appetizer sampler (2 chicken tenders, 2 potato skins and 2 mozzarella sticks). Although told by the bartender the sampler usually comes out quickly, the wings came out first and were piping hot. They were good although definitely not hot... either a string mild or weak medium. The sampler came out a few minutes after. Everything in the sample was good, but not great. Overall, had three beers, 10 wings and the sampler for $30... a good start to the day! read more

Great service! Our waitress was very attentive and efficient despite how busy the bar was on this particular Saturday night. Crowd was very eclectic and there the karaoke singers were very enthusiastic. Zembie's looks like a typical small bar turned sports pub with many flat screens strung over the bar and walls. They serve pitchers and this insanely delicious Irish Nachos dish .... instead of nachos, they use waffle fries and the toppings were a-plenty! They also had wing specials and these may possibly be the BEST wings I have ever had. Ordered the wings with a combination Barbecue/Spicy sauce as suggested by Wendy, the bartender. They were great! Meaty, crispy, perfectly sauced. Also ... FROSTED mugs (when requested early in the evening when it wasn't too busy) .... yay! I have a soft spot for Zembies. This has been my old faithful since my 20s and the found memories that come with that. This place is a true fixture in this city. The bar it's self has been here for a long time and probably will be here long after most things current are gone. Marble bar tops and brass give this bar old time charm that most places on 2nd street don't have. I've been eating at Zembie's for years; Zembie's is a fantastic spot to eat in Harrisburg. Scott, the bartender, is one hell of a guy. He's always friendly and his service is always on point! The food is always hot, fast and delicious; I recommend the chicken tenders and mild hot wings. Oh, and their the french fries are a an absolute must! It's a great place for lunch, or anytime really. With parking next door at a parking garage, there's no need rush through your experience. Sit back and enjoy the cold beer, great environment and wonderful staff at Zembie's. Went in with several friends on a Sat night. It was karaoke night which was nice because there was entertainment. Nothing to impressive to speak of as far as service. The waiter that came to our table didn't seem to happy to be waiting on us but we were a large group. Didn't like that they allowing smoking in the bar. Needless to say we didn't stay long and will not be returning. Would not recommend to anyone unless you like leaving the bar smelling like smoke . read more

Zembie's is your typical Central PA sports bar... Think Kokomos but with better service and better mixed drinks. NBA, NFL, and MLB on the screens by the bar and karaoke on weekends with a DJ playing a mix of music from rap to country. It's a typical Central PA crowd with your mix of rednecks, Abercrombie boys, and the occasional black dude who came with his Army buddies or sumet. The mixed drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. A malibu bay breeze runs like 4$ I believe. And of course it's always fun to watch drunk people embarrass themselves terribly... And the American Idol wannabes who think that because they can carry a tune everyone wants to hear them sing 10 songs by Bette Midler :| The food is also pretty good. Zembie's was hoppin' when I arrived late on a Friday night. My memory is a little fuzzy since I had got an early start on the evening at the airport bar. It's a dark and friendly kind of joint, with a crowd of laid back people having a great time. Karaoke was in full swing while I was here, and the "talent" seemed ok. The beer selection wasn't that great though. The best beer that they had was a Sierra Nevada, which wasn;t bad. I've been going to Zembies off and on for years. Good food... love the Irish Nachos (waffle fries, cheese and bacon) and I think they have some of the best wings in the area. We ask for the hot sauce mixed with garlic sauce - which is a perfect combo IMO. Kitchen service can be slow, even at lunch when its mostly empty... drinks come faster. Stopped here on maybe the hottest day of the summer with a couple of my closet friends. The waitress was so welcoming and sweet. I ordered the wings they were decent for the price! I wouldn't mind ordering them again. My friends really enjoyed the little bar too! The waitress messed up my friends order and we felt too bad to say anything but she was very apologetic and they remade her a new one very fast!! I will be stopping in again some time soon. Zombies is a great little Sports Bar. It is the home of the Washington Redskins Fan Club locally. There are plenty of daily specials and the food is always consistently good. The men's room is exceptionally tiny and badly in need of an upgrade. This is also one of the few bars in the city you can still smoke inside. I'm not a fan of that, but it's a fun place to be. Go early if you're a non smoker as it gets worse as the day goes on. read more

I used to come here often when I lived in the area. Scott is a great bartender; I hope he is still there. The wings were some of my favorite in the area. (Possibly my favorite in the area.) They do have a dart board and do karaoke on weekends. I've always had a fun time in here and enjoyed myself. My only complaint, like a previous post, is that the guys room is TINY and needs fixed up badly. Also, when you're seated at the bar, there is only one TV at the end of the L-shaped bar. The other TVs are literally a few feet above your head, so if you're trying to watch a game that's being shown on a TV above you, you have to slide your barstool back and literally look almost straight up at the TV. However, they do have bar tables around the bar that make it easier to watch a game. read more

Went here for an Eagles game once and stopped back in for a drink another night. The wings and nachos I had during the game were pretty standard, I don't remember being overly impressed, but I also wasn't disappointed. It was a pretty quiet night and the bar properly catered to Eagles fans by turning off the music and turning on the game audio once it started. An interesting crew of people came in around the 4th quarter with a plastic bag full of things they apparently needed for karaoke night, we didn't stay to listen but I'm sure it was a delight. The waiter I had for the game was the same bartender I had for my quick stop another night. He's a cool guy, attentive and good at what he does. The one negative experience I had was paying $7.50 or $8 (Can't quite remember) for a Rogue's Yellow Snow IPA. This is maybe a $6 beer in this area, anymore than that is pretty outrageous. This place has never disappointed me! Great place for a beer on a weeknight, during the day, and of course the weekend. Have had some fun times at karaoke on the weekend, but usually I go during the work week and it's always a good crowd. Everyone behind the bar is super sweet and down to earth and they remember you. The portions are pretty big on the food, and the fries are AMAZING. I've had the hot wings which were not the best in the burg but pretty good, but where it's at is their sandwiches. So far I've tried their Reuben which was named Moises Alou, their Primanti Brothers style sandwich named Geoff Blum, and their cheeseburger on special. Zembie's is a great place to hang out. They have great wings. The best wings in Harrisburg as a matter of fact; they've been voted Harrisburgs best wings 2 years in a row by the Patriot News. They have great drink specials too. It's a small bar with a classic look to it. It's a little old fashioned but a really nice bar none the less. They have a juke box with a great set of songs. They also have a karaoke night and live music every so often. The bar sports tons of Harrisburg Senators memorabilia on it's walls. It's a perfect place to chill and drink a couple pitchers. Usually, I like to start out here and move on to some of the other bars as the night progresses. Great bang for your buck. I'll admit it, I'm biased. I have been going here for years. I love their menu. The "Cliff Floyd" (Turkey & Spinnach Pita) is my go to sandwhich however I have never had a bad meal here. They also boast Paulie, the bartender extrodinaire who is always quick with the drinks and quicker with his wit. This is a baseball bar, so if its in season you will be able see just about MLB game you want. The place is small so on a Friday or Saturday evening don't go if you're claustrophobic. But on a non-weekend night if you want to enjoy a game with friends over a few beers, this is THE place on 2nd Street in Harrisburg. read more
