Lisa made both my wedding cake and a specialty cake the following year for my wife. The specialty cake is a Mexican embroidery cake with an Otomi pattern. Lisa makes the best tasting cake that I've ever had.. The flavors are phenomenal, and the decorations that she was able to create were phenomenal. Lisa is amazing! We booked our wedding on ridiculously short notice and Lisa did a phenomenal job. We were so blown away by everything from the presentation at the tasting to the tiny details like our preferred cake-to-frosting ratio. Every single flavor we tried at the tasting was outstanding. Lisa is amazing! My husband and I aren't big fans of cake so when I went to pick out a wedding cake it was difficult. He only likes pound cake and strawberry shortcake is my favorite, so i wanted a mix of that for our wedding cake but had trouble explaining that to the different bakeries in the area. Lisa was the only one who had workable ideas and was very willing to take on the challenge of our unique ideas. I went for a tasting with her and was in love with the cake she had made! It was my favorite cake I had ever tasted!! I think the cake arrived a little late, because it wasn't there when I was getting ready to walk down the isle but my coordinator handled all of that and all I know is that it was ready and beautiful when I needed it, (we got married at 9am so everything was early) It was exactly what I wanted and I'm very happy. How many people do you know ask for seconds (or in some of our guests' cases a third serving) at a wedding reception? A few years ago I had the awesome opportunity to taste cake from Fleur de Lisa at my cousin's wedding in Yountville. It was amazing. So fast forward to last winter when my husband and I became engaged and decided to have a Napa Valley wedding, we knew we wanted to have the same wedding cake baker. So we set up the tasting and secured the date with Jamie. The tasting was at 8:30am, which is not ideal, but we still had a great time choosing flavors for our cake. It was so difficult because there are so many great flavors. We decided to go with four flavors: cafe ole, carmella, raspberry zinger and white cake with black currant puree. People loved the cake so much that many people ended up having another serving which I knew would happen because my husband and I did the same at my cousin's wedding. I anticipated this and ordered for more than the number I had attending the wedding. We ended up cutting into the top tier which we didn't want to save but are most likely going to order another one prior to our one year anniversary. I'm not a fan of fondant and wanted buttercream. The swiss buttercream they use is not only light and delicious but also very beautiful. I cannot wait til I order my 1 year anniversary cake (which they recommend over saving the top tier)! LOVE LOVE LOVE Fleur de Lisa Cakes! First off they are the nicest people on earth! Super helpful and completely professional! Working with them was amazing! We had no idea what we wanted when my now husband and I sat down with them for a consultation and tasting. Jamie sat down with us and walked us through the entire process and was amazing and very helpful in the creative process. Communication via email and phone is easy and timely. The flavors were all amazing! DE-LI-CIOUS! We picked the raspberry and chocolate ganache, and the white w/raspberry, but we loved them all. It was a very hard decision! Fondant was even tasty! I've had other wedding cakes with fondant and I always have to take off the fondant layer. Our concept (mice toppers who are eating a piece of cake that has fallen out of the top layer - see pic) could have easily been too kitschy, but they did a WONDERFUL job of executing our vision and it never crossed the line into corny or tacky. Lisa delivered a wedding cake that was not what we ordered and a groomsmen's cake that was incomplete. The pictures Lisa showed us at the tasting were nothing like what we got. It looked like she did not put a lot of time into either of our cakes. The wedding cake was the wrong design and the groomsmen's cake looked unfinished. At our initial meeting with Lisa, my wife was very specific about the design that she wanted. After the initial meeting, we were not able to talk to Lisa (not for lack of trying) and all communication was through her assistant by email and one short phone call. We sent Lisa an email after the wedding expressing our concerns. She claimed that we asked for the type of cakes she delivered, which simply was not the case. My wife was adamant about the design. Lisa either didn't pay attention, forgot what we wanted, or didn't care. We wanted an apology, what we got was an argument. I am giving her two stars instead of one because the cakes did taste nice, and the wedding cake looked good. But niether cakes were what we ordered. We worked with Lisa to get the most amazing wedding cake for our June 6 2015 wedding. First of all, the cake was absolutely DELICIOUS...and we chose as our smallest top layer a gluten free recipe so there was deliciousness for all. We were picky about the design. We had trouble finding what we wanted in photos...we wanted something modern and a bit sleek. So my husband worked with Lisa on that. For our Sonoma wedding, we chose The Lodge at Sonoma to be our caterer. As part of the catering package, The Lodge offers the wedding cake free of charge as long as you use one of the preferred vendors. Sold! We went with Fleur de Lisa Cakes, physically located in Santa Rosa, 30 minutes north of Sonoma. We met up with Jamie for our cake tasting, and she was a blast to help guide us through the perilous and fattening world of tasting a boatload of cake and icing flavors. Throughout our wedding process, Jamie was easy to reach and very responsive. Simply put, Lisa's cakes are worthy of the royal pun found in her business' name. Her cakes taste wonderful, and our biggest concern was trying to narrow down the flavors to the ones we wanted. Ultimately, we chose a triple-layer cake, with a devil's food chocolate with raspberry filling layer sandwiched by a white cake with mango-passion fruit filling (and how very Asian of us for doing so). There were absolutely no problems with delivery on the day of our wedding, and the cake came out looking absolutely fantastic. Our only issue there is that we didn't get to eat enough of it on our actual wedding night! Luckily for us, Fleur de Lisa offered to ship a cake to us on our one-year wedding anniversary. I didn't get my e-mails responded to as quickly as I would have liked but they did get back to me and reassured me that it would be ready for pick-up. I would go to Fleur de Lisa Cakes again. Lisa made 3 tiered naked cake for my wedding in august and it was AMAZING. We decided to get 3 different kinds. The cake itself was strawberry and apricot. The rest were sheet cakes of strawberry, apricot, and chocolate Carmel that the venue was able to keep in the back since my wedding was over 200 people. Jamie was the best! She was so patient while I figured out exactly the design I wanted. I was so happy at the end of my appointment I cried like most brides to when they find their perfect dress! The flowers they added to the top were nicer than some floral arrangement I've seen at other weddings. They even added a small fondant gator as a tribute to my husband's favorite football team. Our wedding cake from Fleur de Lisa was three flavors and each of them was just absolutely delicious. And the cake was actually less expensive than the other places we checked out, even though it was far superior in quality. However, there were some issues. During the tasting they asked me to send them pictures of my dress so they could match the decorative pipe icing. This sounded like an awesome idea so I took several pictures and emailed them about two months before the wedding. Come the day, the sides of the cake were completely plain. No decorative piping at all. Disappointing, but not a huge deal. Then there was the cake topper. I spent hours making our cake topper and they didn't put it on top of the cake. I understand they may have had their reasons, but I never received an explanation and I really don't understand why they didn't call to tell me there was something amiss because I'm pretty sure I could have fixed it. It certainly wasn't too heavy, it was made of balsa wood. It may have been too short, but a small piece of styrofoam would have fixed that. Quite disappointing. I contacted Fleur de Lisa cakes multiple times via email, trying to establish a date to taste cakes and discuss the cake further. As a cake from this establishment was included in our wedding package. Much to my dismay Lisa was overbearingly not flexible what so ever with dates, or times that we could meet. I really wanted to use a local establishment for our cake. But was forced to use an out of town vendor due to Fleur de Lisa's lack of flexibility! Both my bride, and I work for a living full time, and have very busy week days during normal business hours. Therefore, if tastings were to take place during the week, after 5pm was best. Otherwise anytime on weekends was best. I let Lisa know this multiple times via email, and was told by her its Monday or Wednesday or nothing. And the time was at some terrible hour during the day like 10am or 12noon. This is the worst business practice I've seen in quite some time. I would not consider this place in the future, nor mention this place to anyone unless it was negatively! This was truly a terrible experience. read more

GLUTEN FREE! Do you know how hard it is to find someone willing to make a boutique wedding cake that is gluten free??? Lisa was a life saver (in more ways than one with my allergy to wheat). I did NOT want to spend my honeymoon suffering the adverse effects of my food allergy. I also did NOT want a cake that looked like it came from a hippie commune just because I require alternative flours. Fortunately I was able to enjoy a delicious, moist cake that actually tasted like cake AND was beautifully presented. Giving Lisa cuttings of ribbon for color and showing her the design in my wedding invitations, she was able to create a lovely fondant that fit perfectly into my theme. We spent a long time designing it by drawing pictures and borrowing ideas from photos. By the time we were through, I know that my cake was one of a kind. People raved about the flavors, and I am afraid I scarfed down my piece with less than dainty bride-like etiquette it tasted so good. :) I am very glad I found Lisa for my wedding day! read more

My husband and I had very different ideas on what we wanted the cake to look like, and Jaime was great at combining our ideas into a cake that was stunning and delcious! We did three tiers, and a sheet cake, with three flavors total: Cafe Ole, Karat Cake, and Pineapple Coconut. We used Fleur de Lisa for our wedding cake. Our venue recommended them and after meeting with Jamie at the tasting we knew this was the place. There were so many flavors to choose from. We selected raspberry zinger, "Karat" cake and poppy lemon and they were all delicious. I knew I wanted the cake design to be simple and to match my dress with fresh flowers on it. Aside from that, I wasn't quite sure how it would turn out but Jamie quickly sketched a picture for me and suggested colors that would go with the look I described. They were able to make my design using only butter cream and no fondant, which was very important to me. When I first saw the cake on the day of my wedding I was so happy. It was exactly what I wanted and even better then I expected. I only wish I ate more of it. I didn't give 5 stars simply because it was a bit more expensive then what I had initially wanted to pay but well worth it in the end. read more

I still cannot believe next month, it's going to be a year since we got married (8/14)! Time flew by super fast and I regret not posting this review earlier! We had many options for wedding cakes to choose from, but the reason why we picked Fleur de Lisa is the TASTE! As soon as we tried their cakes, we were set. We got to meet with Lisa for the tasting and she was really nice and friendly. She showed us pictures of previous weddings and we were impressed the quality of work. Unfortunately, we had a budget to work with and told her how much we wanted to spend. She really worked with us and we felt that we were going to have a great wedding cake. Jamie, was the person that I communicated majority of the time throughout the whole wedding process, I believe she is the office manager. She was awesome! She was really great to work with. On the day of our wedding, we were satisfied with our cake. The wedding cake flavors we chose were Carmella (chocolate and caramel) and Semi-Sweet Sensations (chocolate) with Raspberries!!! Oh my goodness, I'm salivating right now! =) The cake was beautiful, elegant and most of all delicious!!! We heard many comments from friends and family that it was the best cake they ever tasted! Because my husband and I don't believe in saving the top tier for our one year anniversary, we decided to eat it on our one week wedding anniversary instead. We hired Fleur de Lisa to make our wedding cake.. and SO GLAD WE DID! They first had us come in for a cake tasting to taste all of the cake selections. The tasting was very well done, their staff was professional, and their cakes were DELICIOUS. They went step by step with us to design our cake and gave us a diagram of what the cake would look like. Prior to the wedding they averted disaster after our florist gave them the wrong color section for the flowers on top. They remembered what we wanted and corrected the issue before it even became a problem. On the day of the wedding, the cake was transported on time and looked beautiful. We initially decided on going with Fleur de Lisa based on the fact that Jamie was the only vendor (out of 5 others that are top notch in the area) that was willing to meet with us and conduct a tasting on a Sunday (a usual day off for a wedding vendor). With living two hours away, our visits up in the Santa Rosa/Sebastopol area were limited. When we arrived, Jamie gladly guided us through the different types of cakes and all of their flavors. Everything was fabulous, we managed to narrow it down to 4 flavors for our wedding cake. On the day of, everything was just beautiful and tasted so wonderful. They even worked with us on making 10 vegan carrot cupcakes for our vegan and lactose intolerant guests and they were out of this world! My (meat & potatoes) husband even loved them!
