It is no longer Flemington Furs. It's now Maximilian. Watch out! I dropped coats off in Flemington, NJ for storage. My coat was taken and replaced with a used coat that clearly shows wear and-tare. My coat was almost new and seldom worn. Once I realized the coat theft I started reaching-out through calls and emails. No one took me seriously or tried to help. Eventually my calls were not returned and I was ignored and not taken seriously. This is a major violation as the furrier tolerates criminal behavior done to their customers after the customer has submitted complaints. Anyone shopping there be careful! Anyone considering coat storage there, be warned --and go elsewhere! My immaculate coat was replaced with a worn coat. I have tried to resolve this matter many times but I only get the runaround. read more

This is not Flemington Furs. Maximilian took over Flemington. Their service is nothing like the Real Flemington furs Company. They ruined my sister's Mink/chinchilla fur coat with a hanger hole. They fixed it but it was a horrible fix. She gave the coat to me. It was her favorite coat, and they ruined it. She purchased the coat from the Real Flemington fur company which the furrier and company took excellent care of her coats. Wish it was the Real Flemington Fur Company! This is where I go to buy all my family and friends furs. And after more people on Yelp read this--I am going to have a lot more friends. Nothing like wearing a fur in the winter time. And the tradition here is to immediately parade your fur on Main Street in downtown Flemington after purchase regardless of weather. So what if it is 89 degrees and 89 % humidity--you still walk downtown showing off your new fur. And everyone will know where it comes from--Flemington Furs! And furs at Flemington come from animals that have lived a long life, that have been consulted and have agreed in writing to have their skin donated and their animal families have received compensation. These animals are giving their lives so you can have a warm life. There is no better mission in the animal kingdom than supporting humans in their endeavors. Easy to see why going out of business - before coming here, I thought it was because they were fixed on selling skins of dead animals, and nothing else. But I am wrong, the "sale" prices are high, their service personnel are not of the caliper of a high end store, the local neighborhood was not improved to match their prestige, and the place looks totally dated. Even if furs were the hottest product, they would still be going out of business. It is not a pleasant luxurious experience, it's dime store behavior. read more

Steve (factory manager) is horribly unprofessional, doesn't listen and doesn't need to talk to customers EVER! I bought a coat that needed new sleeves and he didn't listen to a word and put sleeves on a coat I explicitly said not too - "Your going to love it" is all he kept saying- so I was out of $500 (deposit) or buying a coat that I didn't like. One bad experience; fast forward to paying my storage bill - all he kept saying was "you signed the receipt" when I asked for details about the transaction. Yes. It is 11:30 at night and I am still mulling over everything that you said to me. You talked to me about respect over sentimental items and then told me that the item I wanted repaired wasn't worth $10. You might be right. It might not be worth repairing. You clearly let me know what you think I should do. I should have bought the cute white fur coat, that would just be PERFECT for a wedding. You made me try on a dozen or so hideous fur coats when all I wanted was to have the one I brought in repaired. You see, a woman wore that coat once. A woman, who if didn't exist - I wouldn't be getting married because Michael wouldn't exist. A man who you threw out of store to go watch TV and eat cookies like a child. Maybe you are right. Maybe I am crazy. I must be crazy for not spending $3000 for a new fur and trading in the coat that is falling apart for the mere $160 you offered. I must be crazy for not caring if my guests simply fall over themselves at how extravagantly beautiful this new fur coat would have been. What I would have liked to tell my guests was that the coat belonged his grandmother whose wonderful family I now have the honor of being apart of. So yes, I will take it to another fur place. If they can fix it, I won't care if it looks like Frankenstein's fur. I guess that makes me crazy too. If I can't get it repaired, then it will sit in a closet and come out every so often to be admired. I might even dare to wear my every day coat! I know this must sound crazy because obviously - that is what I am after all, but there is something much more important than fur. read more

Reposting, since my original review (which even got 4 "Useful" votes) seems to have "mysteriously" disappeared...

I purchased a Lynx hat in April 2015. My head was measured so the hat could be tailored to fit my head properly. In November 2015, my hat was mailed to me. To my surprise, the hat was never tailored to the new measurement. I took the hat back to Flemington Furs (a two hour trip one way) telling them they never did the tailoring, even though the receipt showed that in October 2015 the hat was supposedly done, dated and initialed by a staff person. After waiting six weeks, my husband had to call to see what was happening with my hat. The furrier had to find my hat first then call me back. In the meantime, my husband called the President of Flemington Furs to share his unpleasant experience and was told he was on the phone. Good screening! My husband explained he was a customer and would be expecting a call back.....guess what no return call! My hat is due to be shipped tomorrow. I have purchased three coats, gloves and a headband prior to this mess without incident. I am very disappointed with Flemington Furs and how they handled this entire situation. I was in Flemington Furs last weekend and purchased a leather and shearling vest which is drop dead gorgeous at a very reasonable price. That said, their customer service which was formerly drop dead fantastic has really gone downhill. And there was very little inventory. Had I wanted to buy a new coat, I would not have found anything suitable. Service: They no longer take trade in save for "we'll take one older fur for one new fur purchase." This was not the case in the past. A few years ago, they would bend over backward to help you restyle, exchange/trade in old for new, and did so with a smile, plus "please have an espresso while we talk." When I purchased a mink jacket a few years ago, I traded in/exchanged three garments which no longer fit and they didn't hesitate for a second. When I inquired about converting a full length beaver into a blanket, the quoted price was out of the question. I paid roughly $3,500 for the coat about five to seven years ago. They wanted $2,800 to make the blanket. And I have 4 coats which I want to have converted. It really is a shame to see what was a once beautifully run and service oriented organization turn into what I experienced. Shopping at Flemington Fur used to be a treat. I doubt seriously I will ever go there again. read more

Horrible customer service. I stored my furs there and when I went to pick them up they gave me a piece that did not belong to me which I only discovered after a 40 minute ride home necessitating another trip out there to drop off that piece and get one of my pieces they failed to give me. read more

Today my husband and I and a friend had the pleasure and privilege to visit Flemington Furs. I had called ahead of time to see if they were willing to help me with the identity of a fur coat I had found and to fill me in on any info about the making and care of my find. When we walked through the doors of this gorgeous..spacious and extremely upscale salon we were immediately greeted by a gracious friendly and knowledgeable person. She was more than helpful. She not only told me everything I needed to know but gave us a wonderful informative tour of this lovely salon. She then got one of the owners and he too was extremely kind and helpful. We were invited to enjoy some refreshments as well. This is how you can expect to be treated when you walk through the door. We were not there to buy and they knew that and still we were treated as valued people. As for the furs themselves? They are exquisite! The level of class and quality and beauty is stunning. They have a huge variety of styles all of which are gorgeous. I write very few reviews and only when I am moved to do so by either how horrible or wonderful a business is. We were moved and thrilled and happy campers when we left. So if you are looking for a gorgeous quality fur or just want some info about furs...Flemington Furs is a class act that would be tough to follow. read more
