The Den is the kind of store you want to shop in if you are looking to decorate a man cave, an office, or a tv room where your wife gives you a little freedom to put your own touches. It's a men's store and a great place for men and women alike to buy gifts for guys. Signs, books, chachkis, wine and bar items, games, steins, beautiful model ships, and even some clothes...and that's just the tip of the iceberg. My wife hates when I step into this place because I can spend all day browsing and brooding over the fact that I don't have a man cave to put all of the great stuff they have here at The Den (though she doesn't have her own 'space' either). Things are a bit pricey...like most places in Peddler's Village...but you can find some really cool stuff here. The website only has an extremely limited inventory because they keep the best stuff in the store for foot traffic so don't judge the store by its website.

I love coming across a vintage shop with a variety of pieces from multiple decades. This store…read moredefinitely was one of those. The selection was great, and the store was organized well. Just a few minor things. I personally did not feel like the cashier in the front of store was welcoming. Sure they helped someone who asked about their restroom, but I don't know that they ever greeted anyone who came in. I'm very sensitive to this when I'm shopping, because a warm greeting can mean a lot to unfamiliar tourists. I also felt like the clothes, to me, were on the expensive side. The price of $25 felt right for some shirts/blouses, but not for others, but it was a default price nonetheless. Replica band/concert tees were priced equally high, and some of them were beat up while not being vintage. Other items, I just felt like I could find at the thrift and get a better deal. I thrift a lot from many, many different venues, so I know this for sure. While I understand the beauty of a vintage store is that someone else did the shopping for you, the markup felt like a lot at times. Most of the stores I go to in Philly have a variance of price points. Besides that, it was a cool store. It was like walking into the past, which was fun.

So now I take my daughter who's 13 years old and loves to dress skater/relaxed. I get to live my childhood through her by buying her some cool outfits and shoes. They seem to always have a sale like but 3 things- shorts shirts for $135. The prices are a bit higher than what I usually spend for my daughter but the clothing is good and the brands are even better. They not only have clothing but also have shoes and belts, hats and skateboards. Which my daughter wants next- my daughter wants to customize her own board- which you can do online on their website- and take it in the store to have the stuff put it together. My daughter doesn't know how to skateboard yet, but maybe once she has a board of her own I will take her for lessons- if that's a thing or just take her to a skate park. Overall this store is great. The staff are super helpful and actually spent time with me and my daughter picking g out clothes/ sizes to help us shop.

I made the mistake of ordering shoes here and had to deal with a bunch of crap. Anyway, once I got the shoes I ordered, I noticed they were both completely different sizes! One was a size 8 and one was a size 9! Not to mention I order size 7 and a half. So I called customer service and they said the fastest option would be to trek all the way to my "nearest" store and do an exhange or return in person. No kidding. I could obviously walk 16 miles to my closest store sooner than I'd get a return label, ship them back and wait for a refund! Thanks customer service lady! Upon arriving at the store, I was immediately greeted by this really nice girl that worked there. I wish I caught her name. She was really helpful. Normally you can only get the price of the shoes back from your order. If you had to pay taxes or shipping, too bad. You won't get it back. However, she saw how upset I was over not being able to get another pair of the same shoes due to them being completely sold out (of course), and got me a 100% full refund. After that she helped me find another pair that was similar and would accommodate my work uniform needs, then gave me a ten dollar discount for my troubles. So kind! Of course I suspected after leaving it was only due to the fact the store was going to lose a sale. Oh well. So, don't order online unless you ship them to your local store for you to pickup (the shipping is free that way), or just go to the store and see what you can find. Overall terrible online shopping experience. Great in-store experience.

But instead of helping them decide between the two or just saying nothing (because that's what sales people are supposed to do), the employee said, "Then you should just go there." The couple left. So did I. But not before listening to the employee disparage the elderly couple, make fun of some woman's choice of holiday movies, and complain about the challenges of being 30.
