We slept pretty well, though there is the noise of people coming in and out since they are outside access rooms. The restaurant and pub were really nice. Excellent food, highly rated, and a great gluten-free menu. We enjoyed the lamb, seafood pie, and the fish n chips. The menu is short but the quality of the food is amazing. Thankfully some chefs are avoiding filling plates with steak and chips and putting their talent into well presented, thoughtful ingredients cooked superbly. I had the smoked duck/chicken liver pate for starter and the pate was delicious. The chutney was amazing and the knowledgable host informed us that it was made freshly earlier in the day!! My wife had carrot and chestnut cannelloni with watercress cream. She was equally happy with it. For mains I had the seafood plate, made up of 4 "mini" meals of fried seabass fillet, crab samosa, a mini fish pie and hake with chunky chip & tartar sauce. Seeking refuge from the cold and wanting not frozen but fresh fish n chips and this place checked all the boxes. I walked in and the smell of fresh burning wood washed over me and I knew I was in the right place. Adorned with quotes and driftwood/branches, I took a gander around and sat up at the bar and was greeted with a smile from a super knowledgeable tender of the bar. He let me know what type of fish it was (do I remember? no, but it wasn't the average "white fish" answer I was used to getting) and that it was just caught the day before. Not much more I can say than this is the place to eat for an authentic Irish cuisine, pint and overall feeling than this is the place in Sligo area to go to.
