This store use to be my go-to store however the service has gone down the tubes. If you value service, I would recommend going elsewhere.

Such a great experience at Fleet Feet this week! I started running a few months ago and was wearing some older shoes that were well-worn and also the wrong size. Because I've stuck with running - and because I have a history of plantar fasciitis (repaired with two surgeries) - I decided to treat myself to a shoe fitting and new pair of running shoes. Al, who helped me on my visit, could not have been nicer or friendlier. He asked me a few questions about my running, what shoes I'm currently wearing or have previously worn, and then he did the foot scan. After reviewing it with me, he brought up four different running shoes for me to try on - Hoka, Asic, New Balance and Brooks. He was well-versed in the differences between each and was helpful in parsing through what I liked (or didn't) in each pair. After I selected the winner, he checked inventory for my preferred colorway. They didn't have it in stock but assured me it would be delivered on Monday from another location. He recommended a pair of socks, too, and made the checkout process super quick. On Monday afternoon, I called the store to see if the shoes were in (a little eager to go on a run). Jane was kind enough to check to see if they were there and let me know they were. I went for a run after picking them up, and am super happy with my selection. The amount of cushion is perfect for me, and I could feel a difference in my pace. My heels didn't hurt at all when I finished, which is a huge win for me and my bionic foot! I had a wonderful experience at the Deerfield Fleet Feet last week! I was home from Minnesota for the holidays and had needed new running shoes so we decided to stop by. We walked in and were immediately greeted and assisted by Al. He was incredibly personable, helpful and patient with me during this experience! I had explained that I needed some new running shoes due to ankle pain. I cross-train so I've been running in my cross-training shoes and was ready to make the change to some runners. We started with the 3D foot-scan that pointed out I had low arches, which I didn't even know! After the assessment, Al went to get a few shoe options for me to try. I have wide feet, so it's especially difficult for me to find shoes. Al was incredibly nice and patient, having to consistently run to grab new sizes and styles of shoes. After about 10 different try-ons, we narrowed it down to some New Balances and Hokas. He had me run on the treadmill with both and the Hokas didn't give me any pain! After about an hour of try-ons, I was happy we had found success. Al had me pick out the color I wanted and was able to have them sent up to my home in Minnesota - they came about a week later! I bought a pair of Clifton 10's about 4 weeks ago. I didn't like the sales person even though I have purchased other shoes at store. He pretty much pushed the Clifton 10. I have worn Hokas for the last 6 years. Alway comfortable even if they last too long. These new Clifton's Regarding terrible. They cut corners by omitting a gusseted tongue and tongue loop. read more

I boxed them up and sent them back. No problems. Then I could not find one of my orthotics. We tore our house apart. Then I got a call from Charles at the Fleet Feet in Deerfield where I had returned the shoes. My orthotic was in one of the returned shoes! Yes, I'm a moron. I have never heard of this place until it was mentioned at a job site I was at yesterday. I go in today the 18th and immediately as I walk in, I get acknowledged by one of the employees while he was taking care of his current customer. Took a few minutes but the wait is fine gave me a chance to observe shoes, inserts and the machine they use to scan your feet. I get helped and explained that i wanted to get my feet scanned to ensure where my feet are and what is recommended i purchase. Get scanned and get explained the results of the scan and i get an idea of shoes i need to purchase for stability and what inserts i need for my flat feet lol. I only purchased the inserts but will definitely be returning to purchase the shoes that were recommended for my feet. Yesterday I spent over an hour with Paula at the Deerfield Fleet Feet. She analyzed my feet with 2 devices, emailed me the results, brought out more than 10 pairs of shoes, showed me several different insoles, and gave me compression socks. Fleet feet in Deerfield is always helpful and offers curbside pickup. I grabbed my Aftershokz headphones and some other clothing I needed. They have a lot of clothing, but only offer Brooks in the women's running undergarment. There are other brands but have to go far and wide to reach them. Regardless of what brands they carry, the staff is friendly and helpful, which is why I continue to come in. It has a great clothing selection and shoe selection. Also, their sales are something to look forward to. read more

This place just frustrates me a bit. Obviously good quality but, wow, you really pay up for it. I'm really not entirely convinced that the employees, while typically runners themselves, are qualified to know what is best for you. Usually employees step right up to offer assistance but yesterday I walked into the store empty of customers and among the 4+ employees it took a while before 1 finally, with a chuckle (like he knew they were delinquent and he was embarrassed), offered assistance. Also frustrating is that their points from their reward program expire after a time... what? If you've earned the points by spending money with them there should be no expiration date! Furthermore getting in and out of their parking lot is not exactly a walk in the park. I re-read my previous review in which I stated that the employees are knowledgeable and in retrospect I believe that some are and some very clearly are not. read more

My oh so fond memories of Fleet Feet in the city (specifically the North Ave location) involves fun runs and race trainings. And a few times a year I would get on their treadmills and they would help me find the perfect running shoes for my not so perfect running style. Since I moved to the burbs I've found it easier to buy my running shoes online. My last pair of asics I ordered via zappos never quite fit right, but out of pure laziness have been wearing them for a year too long. They were bugging me during a workout class last week and with some time to kill after I did a search on the Yelp App for the nearest place to buy running shoes. There were a few nearby options, but I chose Fleet Feet mostly because they were always my go to back in the day. I was greeted by the friendly Jeff. I was expecting to get back on the treadmill, but Fleet Feet's technology has come a long way and I jumped on this super cool machine that told him every detail about my feet. I'm really not sure why every shoe store isn't carrying this vs good old fashioned measuring. Well besides cost I guess. A few minutes later Jeff came out with 2 sneakers that he thought would work well for my needs- another pair of asics and brooks. The asics were better than the ones I've been wearing, but the brooks were pure perfection. I've worked out in them a few times since and what a difference. The next time I need new running shoes (Jeff recommended to come back in a year for the 4-5 times/week I workout) I'll be making time to go to Fleet Feet. read more

Came here yesterday in search of my next pair of running shoes since I'd clocked too many miles in my old ones and they've seen better days. William was very helpful in providing me with several feasible options for me. Their employees will often watch the way you walk to see what kind of support you need. We tried on some different Superfeet inserts as well. None of the Superfeet options were high enough for my arches so they wouldn't provide me with much support. I asked him if it was still worth wearing and he told me if they didn't reach my arch, it wouldn't do much for me. I appreciated his honesty. I tried out my new kicks after work and my right arch started to feel like it was being pulled (painfully) and the side of my left foot hurt as well. This was similar to pains I'd had in the past with a pair of Asics that supposably were causing additional problems for my back and feet. So I came back in today and found the same type of sneaker (Brooks Glycerin) I'd had had before, tried them on and they felt great. Happy with my purchase and was glad that Fleet Feet allowed me to exchange the sneakers I'd bought yesterday (even though I walked around in them outside) to find a pair better suited for me. I had to pay the difference (+$30) so ~$150 in total, but worth it if they work well for me. Lots of great options here for shoes, inserts, and athletic gear for swimming, biking, and running. read more

In news of hearing that The Runners Edge in Libertyville closed, I was eager to find another running store close by and found Fleet Feet. When walking in, the store was PRISTINE. The care they put into the store and the care they show to their customers is impressive. Shoutout to Brian for all of the help he gave my boyfriend and I!! He was running up and down the stairs to get us different types of shoes and different sizes with no complaints. Came here the other day to get a roller and couldn't help but notice how nice the people are. I spoke with JC the entire time, and during the 30 minutes I was there he let me use a top of the line electric massager because I spoke to him about having a tennis tournament that night. Each and every one of them, stands around, twirling their thumbs. No idea about anything. No knowledge about anything. I've given this place 3 tries. And that was 3 tries too many. We have been loyal customers of Fleet Feet in Deerfield, having bought many pairs of shoes there - but no more. Yesterday I went in to buy shoestrings that don't tie, looked around the whole store and couldn't find them. So, I waited in line at the cash register to ask if they still carried them. When it was my turn, I asked if they still carried them, and the clerk huffed off to the other side of the store saying he couldn't help me because he had another customer. First, it sure seemed like I was next to be waited on. But, if not, he only had to say yes or no, and then point to where they were if they carried them. She is a patient and knowledgeable sales person at this specialty running shoe store in Chicago's Northwest Suburbs and spent as much time as was necessary to put us into the correct Running Shoes that truly met our needs and enhanced our recently enhanced physical fitness experience. The selection of Running Shoes at Fleet Feet is extensive and Ana had no issue in bringing out as many Shoes as were necessary to get us what would be best for us. Why in the world would you go anyplace else for running shoes? They analyze your gate/ use a machine called fit ID and educate you on what to look for in your future shoes safaries. BUT that's not why we will only come back here from now on for all of our running shoes. They have a 60 day no questions asked return policy and they want you to run in them that whole time. I had just completed a half-marathon and figured that i can go the distance, which meaaaans: i need good running shoes. I decided on this place, because Chi traffic is a 'no-thx'. I walked in, there was only one associate helping someone, an another customer waiting to be helped. Then Steve came up and he helped me. I got measured with this cool technology photo thing. Then Steve explained all the measurements. He brought up 4 different shoes. I found mine really fast. Then i got insole fitted. With everything picked. I ran on the treadmill to feel them a bit. They're awesome! Talked a bit about my running, training, hydration, mentality, etc. I also got 4 chia energy gels (because they sell them individually and i never found them like that to be able to try them and see of i like it). All together it came to $200. I thought it's a decent price considering the quality of the shoes i got. Can't wait for my first run in these shoes and my marathon finish!!! read more

I have been needing a new pair of runners for quite some time, but have been dragging my feet because of budget and injury issues. I heard that fleet feet does fitting of super feet inserts and gait analysis and wanted to give them a shot bc of past running problems. completely not disappointed. I didn't catch the name of the people that helped me but they were very helpful and knowledgable. I told them what my budget was and they worked within that frame and were never pushy about going over that and brought out multiple pairs to test out. I only went with 4 stars bc I have yet to take my new ones out for a run! Will definitely be back again. read more

I love this place. I'm a runner who used to run before babies and finally am back. I've gone to several running/shoe stores and these guys really listen to what level i'm at. They know how to meet the needs of a daily long distance runner (where i was 3 years ago) and someone whose body is just starting again to do short runs a few times a week. I have orthotics and they were are always so patient with me trying on two dozen different shoes. I have to walk around the store with both shoes on to fully get the feel if my heel will pop out. And their return policy is amazing, i think its 3 months of normal wear. I have yet to bring back a shoe. Thank you for taking a full hour of your time to help me find the right shoe, measuring me and finding that after 2 kids i'm now a 1/2 size larger, and ordering the specific shoe color I wanted. You guys are the best. I am bringing my sister here b/c they also have amazing athletic accessories. Including running sport bras that go up to E in the store. I'm sure they can special order if you need something not there. (BTW, they don't charge you for ordering sizes or colors that aren't on site.) And after a little shoe shopping, its a treat to go across the street for some treats at Deerfield Bakery. So i never have to re-park the car. Thanks guys read more

Walked into this retailer in Deerfield ready to buy gym shoes. Had called earlier to see if they had. Walked to the wall filled with gym shoes not finding what I'm looking for. A "salesman" was standing 3 feet from me, no other customers in the store, never asked if he could help. Was starring in space. I approached him asking for help and he walked over to the wall without saying anything. He found the shoe I was looking for but did not have in the size or color I wanted. He never offered to check another one of their stores, order in, or anything. He was done with me. Too much competition in this business and good luck to them making it there. As a newer business in the area they should be trying a whole lot harder. If they do make it they will without me helping as I will not be back. read more

This location offers packet pickup for various city runs, but their system is less than accommodating. There store closes at 6, therefore packets should be available for pickup-up until then- if the doors are not closed, a person should not be denied the option to pick up their running packet. There is also construction leading up to the location, which is probably more the running organization's fault for not communicating, but one would think this location would take that into consideration instead of turning a person away- especially if their doors are still open! read more

It might be a nice idea to put in the correct store hours on the store's website. When I checked the website, it indicated that the store closes at 6:30 pm on Thursdays. After fighting through rush hour traffic and construction on Waukegan Road, I arrived at the store at 6:10 pm. The salesperson said they were closed at 6:00 pm. Although their door sign indicated that they close at 6 pm, I showed the salesperson that their website was incorrect. At that point, it would have been nice if the salesperson allowed me to shop for 15 minutes after admitting that their website was wrong. Very frustrating experience. Also, very frustrating to drive to the store due to the construction in front of the store. Oh well, I guess I will simply go to Road Runner in Skokie where they have always had extraordinary customer service and a 90 day return policy. read more
