Do the math and that's four generations served by one store. My uncle's new wife won't let me use her name in the review and got mad and yelled at me about it. So, let's call her Mandice. Not because she has massively huge man-feet, but it's just a random name. Right? Point is, that there were shoes that fit those gunboats...and looked great, to boot (see what I did there). She left with a pair of heels, a running shoe and slippers. NR has a new shoe customer, thanks to me (even though she'll never admit it was me). I love the fact that they keep the place clean and orderly. There's a wide variety. The people are very nice to us, but, they do have to pick up the pace at the check out. I like to come downtown to the mall depending on which stores I'm hoping to go to…read more Parking is $2 an hour if you park on the side near Sullivan's which isn't free but is awesome if you compare it to paid parking in the lower 48. Mall security is amped up. I saw a security guard doing a power walk towards a maybe homeless person inside. There's tons of stores inside and a nice variety. It's not the same as down south but still good with many quality places to shop from. The bathrooms definitely need more attention though. If you can avoid them, avoid them.

Unfortunately malls are dying out and mall operators don't seem focused on pivoting to keep these public spaces open and going. Retailers need to start thinking outside the box and keep energy in these spaces or we will loose in person shopping and that would be such a shame. We did get a few things and shop around but we really expected more for a downtown mall. This needs once over by the developer and the City should be more concerned with its success.

The did a great job explaining the brand and how much the brand stands behind their products. They'll repair them imperfectly for free, or repair them perfectly for a fee. Almost as good as the gold-standard Patagonia warranty! They also explained that this the the only Canada Goose store in US! Finally Anchorage is #1 in something that's not embarrassing! The negatives: If you're one of those folks that says the phrase "Patagucci"...you are about to be humbled. And by humbled, I mean pancaked by a drunk dump truck driver! The prices here are out-of-this-world. Want a beanie? Well, in Canada they call 'em toques. But a toque will run you a smooth $125 here. Just about every jacket is around $900. Many are extremely similar to Patagonia jackets that could be had for $250.

I happened to be driving around looking for parking when stopped at the red light I noticed some…read morecute local offerings in the window of this store. After driving around a few more times and each time glimpsing more and more of the store I finally parked in the lot across the street ($5 for two hours in the evening) and went in. The guy working there was sweet and got to chatting with me while I walked around and picked some things out to try on. In the end I got a cute dress, an artsy Alaska sticker for my nalgene, and an Alaskan local brand tunic hoodie. Such great finds in this random corner store near the 5th St Mall and Nordstrom. They offer hemming on pants here and all kinds of deals on jeans, too. If I lived closer I'd definitely be here all the time!
