The food was delicious! I'm glad I tried it for myself. We shared the crab and collard dip but I also enjoyed the peach glaze chicken dish and sweet potato cornbread. The cornbread tasted more like cake, which I didn't mind. It's served warm and was very soft. The brussels and red skin mashed potatoes were amazing, crispy and creamy. My friend's rattlesnake pasta with salmon was good but it has a Cajun kick. I'd give that a 7/10 because I've had better Alfredo sauce. My mocktail was very tasty and probably the first thing gone. I plan to return to try their brunch menu. Street parking is limited but there are 2-3 decks nearby.

Having been to the Myrtle Beach location, I was excited to learn of one closer to home & quickly added this to my must-go list during my last visit to Durham. It was absolutely worth watching the reservation site for! Beautifully decorated with paintings by local artists. Warm, inviting service. The same Southern deliciousness that I experienced in Myrtle Beach...only easily 10 times better! I enjoyed my bourbon smash along with my hot honey/sweet heat chicken & waffle--would absolutely order both items again...many times, lol. But, the true star of the show was the sweet potato cornbread! I don't know what farm these potatoes came from, what chef prepared them, or how many delightful spices were included. What I do know is that the end result is a masterpiece--so much so that my party ordered extra to share & more to take home for others to try! Already looking forward to my next visit!

Food was so good - I had the grilled peach bourbon chicken which was served on a bed of crispy brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I also got to taste a sweet potato tater tot which was also really good. Everyone else in our group also enjoyed their food. Artwork was also really amazing inside! Now for the reasons why this was only 3 stars... We had a reservation for 6 people, but they only had one table for 6 people that was already taken. They sat us at a 4 top with a 2 top next to it, but would not let us move the tables together. They were not nice about it either, nor did they explain why by this was an issue. The restaurant was not crowded, and pushing those tables together would not have impeded anyone's ability to walk by or serve food/drinks to us. I would recommend not allowing reservations for 6 if they cannot accommodate them. Next issue, we tried to order beers and almost every beer was sold out or not cold yet. Our group was excited to have the option to have beers from Proximity Brewing. But out of like 5 or 6 on the menu only 2 were available. Several of our group just opted not to have a drink at that point. I definitely felt bad for the server because he was losing out on some of our group not ordering alcohol. The other minor thing we were a little bummed about was subbing out a side. My husband didn't want fries that came with his sandwich so he ordered the rice pilaf instead. They only charged $2 extra - not a big deal (and the server was up front about the extra charge). But on the menu, a side of fries is more money than the rice pilaf. Maybe it's more about the extra work for the chef or different food to have on stock, but it seemed like that could be done differently. If they were clear and kind about seating policies & they had beers available this spot would have been 5 stars for me!

We walked in on a cold Tuesday evening. We were sat immediately with our choice of seating. There is plenty of seating and a big bar area. Lots of colorful art on the walls and food music playing. Our server Nez was attentive and provided good service. The menu had lots of food choices. I started with the simple salad. Simple it was. The bleu cheese dressing had no flavor. No taste of cheese at all. Next came the short rib meatballs. They were hearty with chunks of rib meat and a strong jerk flavor. The bang bang shrimp was average but tasty. I enjoyed the pita chips but the dip fell short. Oily and very minimal spinach in it. The catfish was nice and crispy when it arrived however I didn't expect the grits to be runny. Both lacked seasoning. With the menu having delicious looking options, I do want to return to try something else.

I've been to the Raleigh location a few times, so happy to see they finally came to Durham. I came over the weekend during brunch and got the 3 app starter w the crab and collard dip, wings, and the fried deviled eggs+ a side of sweet potato cornbread. The wings and the cornbread were my favorite. The fried eggs were ok, but lacked flavor. The crab and collard dip was good as well but also lacked something. But all in all, food was good and I'll be back.

We went on a Tuesday early evening for my wife's birthday. Server introduced herself and took our drink orders. Several minutes later she took our app order for the crab dip. Oddly enough the app shows up and still no drinks. Then someone from the bar area comes over and says they do not have the beer my wife ordered, so she went ahead and had what I was having -- a sangria. She ordered the shrimp and grits and I had the fried catfish sandwich with sweet potato tots (which came with a hint of cinnamon and what seemed like a maple butter to dip them in). We decided on peach cobber for dessert and it was massive. In my opinion the music was a little too loud for 5:30 p.m. Also, our server ran my credit card and brought us the receipt but no pen. I had to borrow one from the hostess. In short, food was outstanding but the service was a little wonky.

First time checking out Flavor Hills and I'll definitely be back! I ordered the crab fries, a peach Henny margarita, and even got to try a strawberry Henny margarita that wasn't on the menu--and everything was dope. The crab fries were loaded and flavorful, and both drinks were smooth, well-balanced, and honestly some of the best I've had in a while. What really made the experience stand out though was the service. The bartender and staff were welcoming, attentive, and made the whole vibe feel laid back and enjoyable. Great food, creative drinks, and top-tier customer service. Solid first visit

You can tell from the photo that I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into that catfish sandwich. They give you a big crispy piece of fish to go into that bun. The fried devil eggs were a nice surprise too. Overall the food was great! The atmosphere was amazing!! The art is gorgeous!! The staff are very attentive!!

My friends and I recently visited Flavor Hills. Just a heads-up--they won't seat you until your entire party has arrived, which was fine. Once we were seated, our server, Dizzi, was very kind and attentive, checking on us regularly. The food was great. I ordered the chicken sandwich with fries, and my husband had the shrimp and grits--both dishes were delicious. We also started with the deviled eggs, which were amazing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and I loved all the pictures on the walls. We will definitely be returning.

And, it truly lived up to the hype. One of the best we've ever had! I also tried two other cocktails made with their house-distilled rum and gin, and both were delicious and perfectly balanced. The seasonal menu is creative and reasonably priced, we were genuinely impressed. The ambiance is charming and cozy despite a bit warm inside (the AC was pretty weak), but quiet and tastefully decorated with velvet couches, exposed walls, vintage touches, and fresh flowers on each table. We had fun flipping through their amazing cocktail book collection on the shelf too. The bartenders were very friendly and offered us focaccia from Ninth Street Bakery to pair with our drinks for free, which was such a thoughtful and tasty addition. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and are so happy to see a micro-distillery thriving in the heart of Durham. Can't wait to return for an official tour and to sample more of their spirits!

That response will get a smile every time. Super dog-friendly, to say the least, both outside and inside. Outside has several tables under a covered area, and inside has a few couches (with tiny tables) and a long bar you can sit at. We've been a few times now, and the service is super friendly and helpful, every time. It's small and intimate inside, but we never have a problem finding a seat! I love that they have snacks you can help yourself to, in airtight jars at the bar (peanut butter filled pretzels, sour worms, etc). Also important to note- the inside is NOT air conditioned. We stopped in on a HOT day, and it's brutal inside, with cloth couches and just one small fan. Love this bar, all of their cocktails (wine available too), and all of the staff! Will be back (a lot)!!

Definitely high stars for customer service. They could work anywhere I think and be noteworthy. The drinks were solidly on the "ho-hum" scale. Nothing out of the ordinary. In all fairness, I only tried one and maybe if I had a second, I would be more impressed. For the drink (espresso martini), the espresso beans floating in the glass were an unexpected fun addition, but they didn't have much flavor. Maybe after the alcohol, I should have expected that. If I sound "meh" -- yeah -- it was that. The food started out almost the same way, but as I worked my way through it, it got a bit better. The tempura squash is almost like light fried ravioli. While okay, I would have preferred more flavor from the squash rather than from the marinara sauce. It still didn't overwhelm me with flavor, but it was decent enough. Overall, I couldn't decide between 2 or 3 stars, but the employees alone were enough to put it at 3 for me.
