Hainan Chicken

I've been going to this food court for nearly 20 years. It's right beside ACI and super competitive. When I was a kid, I remember all the stalls racing to rock bottom prices lol. Think hunger games but chinese take away version. The goal is to see who can bring their prices to lowest without public health getting involved lol. Luckily, since I started to actually have a job and some income, they've stopped with super cheap meals and focused on quality. The main go to place at the food court has always been the great fountain place but I think they're overrated and they've really increased their prices lately after new management... Flavor Cuisine has done well in filling that void of good value Canto Take away. I've had their eggplant and chicken, beef and ginger, hainan chicken dishes and all were super satisfying. The hainan chicken was moist (it comes with bones) and the rice was really flavourful. If you're trying to cut on salt, you can always ask them for just white rice too or just don't eat take away lol. Nearly all the dishes come with a soup and lemon tea (I recommend you upgrade to the ice milk tea/coffee. SO SATISFYING!

Terrible food

Probably the worst spot in the entire food court. Been here twice and both times proved to be disappointing. This time was so bad it made me make an account and write a yelp review. First of all, the lady at the front works at an incredibly slow pace. Be prepared to wait 5 minutes when you're at the FRONT of the line to even put your order in. As for my most recent experience, people behind me got their orders first, even though they were behind me and they ordered the exact same thing!! I had to wait 50 minutes for my order! If this place served decent food then maybe I would of been fine but I had to go and could not of eaten it even if I wanted to. I asked for a refund 40 minutes in and the person at the front would not give it to me. Saying it'll only take "one second" while in reality it took another 10 minutes while the people behind me got theirs 20 minutes earlier! The person at the front was being rude the entire time I was asking for a refund saying "but it's almost done" in a mocking tone. Neither an apology nor compensation for their mistake. When I did get my food it was unevenly heated and incredibly bland. Waste of time and money, do yourself a favour and don't even think of visiting this terrible place. There are plenty of other places you can go to within a 10 second walk away from there.

portions are large.. price is cheap... thats all i'll give them. if you are litterally on some sort of crazy binge for food and you dont care about quality.. then you hit jackpot.. you may want to also check out kitchen 68 few stores down.. portions are gigantic.. the bowl of noodles is almost 2-3 times the noodle the other places give. i never finish it.

I have a different spin on Brookfield Place. I used to work there. I worked for a major Canadian…read morebank for roughly seven months. This bank has offices scattered throughout the downtown core. We occupied the ninth floor. I loved the location. I'd take the GO train from Markham down to Union Station, and take the PATH briefly to Brookfield Place. There are a bunch of elevators that don't all go up to the same floors. You need to find the floor interval that suits where you want to go. If you are a visitor, Brookfield Place is beautiful. I remember taking a couple of Swedish colleagues to a Toronto Maple Leafs game and we passed by my old workplace. The Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Brookfield Place. I suggested that they go, as they were huge hockey fans like I am. They went the following day and absolutely loved it. My love for Starbucks is due to working at Brookfield Place. I'd drop downstairs to get a drink and take a breather. It's convenient to do a bit of shopping or grab a bite to eat. There's a food court where there are many fast food eateries. I'm sure they have changed since I was last there. There is also a Longo's Market. I'd often get cubed fruit, such as watermelon and cantaloupe, that was easy to eat at my desk to keep me content throughout the afternoon. There used to be a Marche, where you can choose from sandwiches and hot meals. I don't think it's there anymore, but it was awesome. The top floor is where you get to see the high glass ceiling and gorgeous architecture. I didn't appreciate it when I worked here because it was a fairly crazy time in my life working full-time and doing a master's degree part-time. However, when I have returned as a visitor, be it during Nuit Blanche or when I'm heading to Scotiabank Arena, I appreciate how beautiful the crystal cathedral of commerce is. My favourite memory will always be lining up with a few colleagues to get a free heart rate monitor on the first floor of Brookfield Place. We enjoyed missing a bit of work, chatting with one other, and getting a health gift in return. I gave mine to my parents and they still use it to this day. I miss Brookfield Place and the various giveaways that take place. I don't miss the job that I had or the stress that I had experienced. Luckily, I do get to drop by whenever I'm attending a concert. I tried out the 6ixFriedChicken's newest addition to their menu the 6ix Beast Burger! The burger incorporates both a deliciously fried chicken fillet and a unique flavourful beef patty. The chicken was juicy, tender, and it's halal! The beef patty was so flavourful and also had a kick from the Pakistan spices. The burger is HUGE - so for my first few bites, I had it as a whole burger, but ended up eating it like sliders! Got to appreciate the beef patty and chicken fillet on their own, haha! The onion rings were also crispy and delicious - which I paired with their tasty honey garlic sauce. The staff were also very welcoming and attentive! Looking to come back soon to try out more foods from different cultures. Super excited!

You can enter and exit this eatery to get to the mall. I used to take Cantonese classes as a teen a block away. Afterwards, I had the option of hanging around this mall and then heading home by streetcars, or I'd go nuts and walk all the way down to Eaton Centre, hang around, and then go home. I loved malls back then. I can't say that I feel the same way these days. This mall is a shadow of itself, which is a shame. It used to be cool seeing vendors in the lobby. I got a sterling silver ring here when I was in grade 11. I still have it. Excellent quality. It still fits, too! Back then, bubble tea wasn't as popular as it is now. I did love getting iced pineapple drinks from a vendor in the basement. Sadly, it's gone, along with most of the food court down there. I saw two eateries in the basement that were left standing. The eateries are scattered on the ground, second, and fourth floors. Frankly, I don't know why the designers skipped naming the fourth floor the third floor. Chinese culture doesn't like the number four because it sounds like death when you say it out loud. Weird. The ground floor is the most interesting because it has the most stores. Sun Wah Bookstore has been kicking around for decades. It was nice seeing it again. Tung Tung Dan Quen King has bubble waffles and more. Sugar Marmalade is next to Juicy Dumpling, so you can stuff yourself with carbs and then go on a dessert high next door. There were a couple of Chinese herb stores, a pharmacy, a gift store, an optical store and more on the ground floor. It's such an eclectic, odd mix of stores. The second floor had six or seven businesses that were open. It was sad seeing half this floor vacant. There's a claw machine place called PaliPali Claw. I suck at claw games, so I didn't go in. Owl of Minerva, Clay Pot Rice, and Canteen are you eateries. I've never been to the fourth floor, There was a sign saying that Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant is there. It's interesting that it's the only business up there. I hope that there's a rooftop patio or something up there, too. Forget hitting the washrooms here. They are gross. You're better off hitting the washrooms at Chinatown Centre where they are passable. It was nice to return, but the Dragon City that I loved as a teen is long gone. Instead, I embrace ice cream, bubble waffles, and dumplings. Here's to new memories! (341)
