Pretzel Bites and Corn Fritters
Julia C.

Good spot! We went there a couple months back. The food was all delicious and well seasoned! We loved the spot being right in the middle of Davidson. The food was really good. Loved the corn crab fritters, definitely try those!! It is so fun too that you can do a beer flight. We went on a weeknight, and it was pretty quiet, but I imagine this spot is busy on the weekend.

Lobster Risotto

Every thing we ordered was fresh delivered hot with excellent service. My partner had the lobster risotto that was very tasty and I had one of the best pork chop that was tender and juicy. Bothe dishes were served hot out of the kitchen! Chiefs did excellent cooking ‍

Strong 4 stars. This was a work lunch. Popped in for a quick bite because it was close by. First time visiting. We were able to get a seat fairly quickly. For me the menu is limited. They have great things just not a lot I am going to eat because I am not a seafood person and didn't want a salad. However, those sweet potato fries were soooooooooooo good! My colleague ordered hers with regular fries. Both our burgers well done. They nailed the cook. It was just cooked to well. Now I did find one pink spot but by that point I'd eaten 90% of the burger. And yes I surely did finish it! Shout out to our server! We never wanted for Diet Coke. I have got to do better remembering names! She checked in often. We asked for the check early and it was like she magically reappeared with it 10a later. A couple of weird things. The door. I don't know if this is a summer issue or installation issue. Maybe it will be corrected by the time you go but you have to pull hard to open the door. Like pull on it or you will think it's locked. Also, the music randomly increased in volume. It was at a good level the. All of a sudden it felt like 5:15 in a neighborhood bar. Maybe somebody's jam came on and they wanted to hear it? I touch too loud. The place got progressively crowded for lunch but it wasn't so loud that the music volume needed to be increased. No beers or cocktails for us. I did peel at the bar and it looks well appointed.

We were visiting Charlotte and Yelped it for dinner. We lucked out and found a gem of a place. When you walked in you could smell the delicious aroma from the grill. We made reservations via Yelp and were seated immediately. Our server Chelsea was as sweet as can be. We ordered an appetizer recommended by our server... Mussels! It was a huge bowl full. They came in a Thai flavored broth that had a little kick to it. I didn't think we could finish the entire bowl... But it was so good, that we did! Oh and it came with some breadsticks that were char grilled and so very good... Only wish it came with more! I ordered the Salmon. I asked Chelsea to be sure it was not overcooked. It came out a perfect medium. The parmesan risotto and bok choy that accompanied the Salmon was equally tasty. There was a foam on top that looked really cool but I couldn't say that it had a taste to it. My hubbie ordered the most expensive entree... The NY strip. The temperature was a perfect medium rare. It was served with creamy whipped potatoes. Yummy. It was fine dining in an unpretentious setting... Our kind of place. Thanks for making our visit worth the trip. Bravo to the chef. Kudos to Chelsea! Other: We found parking right behind the building. They have a good sized bar with a large drink selection.

Our 1st night in the Davidson area. We started with the pretzel bites - they were not dense but more light and salty. My husband loved the shrimp & grits and my salmon with risotto was amazing! My husband also raved about his Manhattan cocktail - best ever. Our waitress, Savannah, provided excellent service and was friendly and attentive. She even gave us recommendations on surrounding towns.

I made a stop in here late Saturday for lunch while I was in Davidson. The restaurant was not very busy and I was seated immediately. The lunch menu was small but had a good selection. I opted for the Salmon Quinoa bowl and a beer. The food came out fairly quickly - the dish was served cold with the exception of the salmon. I have to admit, this was one of the best preparations of salmon that I've had - crispy on the outside but not over cooked in the middle. I did end up taking off a star due to the price. My 16oz beer cost $16! It was a craft beer that was not rare and I can't think of the last time I've paid that price (other than maybe an athletic stadium). Typically a beer like that is $7-$8.

I absolutely loved everything about this place. We stopped in for a craft cocktail and sat at the bar. There was plenty of seating and the best part was the bartender Josh. He was genuinely friendly and suggested some special drinks. I ordered the pear martini (out of this world) and the mojito made with fresh mint. They use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and the menu looked amazing, although we did not try anything. The whole feel inside was comfortable and friendly! This is a must try!

Snapper with chickpeas and broccolini - perfection!

Flatiron has joined our short list for Saturday dinner due to their consistently excellent food, service, and comfortable location. If you can get their deviled eggs with smoked salmon, DO IT! They serve four perfectly filled eggs with a savory (not sweet) deviled egg filling, tasting strongly of mustard and paprika. Yum! And the smoked salmon elevates the eggs like no other topping. It was amazing. Their Caesar salad is also worthy of a repeat. The homemade dressing and croutons elevate this salad, and it's large enough to share a little. On our last two visits, I had the snapper and sea bass dishes. I like that they rotate their seafood offerings based on availability. I appreciate that both dishes were low carb, but yet full of flavor. The meals were cooked perfectly, and the portions were perfect, too. My husband had their burger on one occasion, and it was juicy and cooked perfectly medium rare. Their fries are good, too! But their standout dish is the roast chicken. Last night, they served it with buttered rice and the most amazing brussels sprouts cooked in a savory broth. The chicken was topped with a sour cream drizzle, and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The chef came by to see if my husband enjoyed the chicken, and told us they cook the chickens whole with lots of herbs to ensure the most juicy flavor. It was amazing! Service had always been wonderful at Flatiron. And the kitchen is efficient at ensuring the perfect timing between appetizers and entrees. I love the atmosphere at Flatiron, too. The building is gorgeous, and the tall ceilings and well-spaced tables make it very comfortable to eat there. And the blues music they played the last few visits was just wonderful. We can't wait to return!

Seaboy - Mushroom toast

It was such a thoughtful touch and a perfect start. Next came the mushroom toast, which is one of our all-time favorites. It's rich, savory and earthy, served on perfectly charred bread, and we order it every single time. Then the whole branzino arrived, beautifully charred and topped with fresh herbs and chili, with blistered shishitos and grilled lemon alongside. It was flaky, flavorful and absolutely delicious. As always, the service was top-notch: warm, attentive and never rushed. Seaboy is one of Cornelius's true gems, so whatever you do, don't skip the mushroom toast!

The table was ready and ours for the evening. We were seated on the porch and were very comfortable there. We enjoyed the service from the recommendations to the banter. It really added to the experience. The food was phenomenal. We opted for a few small plates and one entree to share. This allowed room for dessert! Everything on the menu seemed perfectly crafted. Many unexpected dishes that we want to try. We ordered the heirloom tomato dish (a special), the sablefish, the brussel sprouts, and the yellowfin crudo. All of that left room for the deconstructed key lime pie. Delicious. Worth of reservations. Prime times book up and can book up a month out. They have an oyster happy hour, $2 oysters. I am unsure of the details on that. For reference, our meal with drinks was just over $170 for 3 people.

Our entrees came it was a big disappointment. My eggs Benedict with fresh greens was nothing more than a very bland English muffin, not toasted, not warmed up and hard to cut through. Borderline stale tasting. The ham slice was like a piece of deli ham folded over. They attempted to heat it up, or it was left under the heat lamps too long before serving because the sides of the ham were hard. The eggs were nice - hard to mess those up and the sauce - which was very skimpy - lacked any kind of taste. My fresh greens salad was wilted which gives me reason to believe I my dish was left too long under the heat lamps. This was so disappointing. We didn't mention this to our waiter, we just paid our bill and left. My husband had the hash, recommended by our waiter and it too lacked taste. His dish was better than mine but not the quality we were hoping for when we had such a great lunch there once before. Not sure if they changed chefs or kitchen staff or management, but definitely not the Sunday brunch we set out to have.

We were told there was a large party in the back that had already paid and finished eating but was still sitting at the table. I completely understand that asking a paying customer to leave can be an uncomfortable situation, but when a large group has finished their meal and remained for another 30+ minutes, it ultimately meant more than 10 other parties were waiting to be seated. It feels like a lose-lose situation for the restaurant either way, but I do think management needs to have a plan for situations like this. The wait was especially frustrating because we were given a much shorter estimate initially. I'd also love to see them start accepting reservations -- it would make the experience much easier to plan around. Now, for the important part: the food! Once we were seated, everything came out quickly, hot, and delicious. We all started with the Caesar salad, which was well-dressed, flavorful, and a great classic way to start the meal. We each ordered a different entrée, and everyone loved what they got -- always a good sign when you're dining with a group! We finished with the cannoli, which was the perfect ending to a really nice meal. We will definitely return because the food was that good. I just hope management can address some of the front-of-house issues, particularly the long waits, enforcing reasonable table turnover when needed, and adding reservations. The food is worth coming back for -- hopefully the overall experience improves to match it!
