Flap Your Jacks is a fun place to make your own pancakes. It's a great option for people who want to enjoy pancake art without the hassle of cleanup. The environment is relaxed and casual. Food and Pricing:I enjoyed the eggs Benedict. The flapjack base batter costs around $9, which is reasonable for the amount you get. The overall pricing feels fair, but it can get expensive fast if you add extra toppings or syrups. It's easy to spend more than you expect once you start customizing. Service:Service is the biggest drawback. It's decent when the place isn't busy, but once it fills up, the staff noticeably slows down. It's not a dealbreaker, but it can get frustrating when I'm waiting on simple things like my check. Expect some delays during peak hours. I would definitely recommend checking in through Yelp to skip the line up wait.

Adding to my previous review from 2 years ago: Went with my two year old and husband and it was fun and interactive way for her to have fun and experience cooking. I definitely recommend for young kids. Downside is street parking so we got there early before having to deal with traffic and looking for parking!

The ambiance was cute but small. Large parties will be hard to seat but still able to sit together. The server we had was really good. Renae was very good and friendly. Food, I can only speak for mine. I had the French toast. Omg sooooo good. I would go back just for that.

Flap Your Jacks is such a fun breakfast spot! You get to make your own pancakes right at the table, with all kinds of batters, toppings, and mix-ins. It's interactive, delicious, and perfect for a lazy weekend morning.

An average brunch spot - closer to 3.5 than 4. Granted, I didn't order their diy pancake option, which seems to be a nice interactive dining experience for the kids. The 2 eggs benedict dishes I ordered - wilbur and peppa - were standard benedicts. The hollandaise sauce here feels thick, more like an aioli, and I wish it had just a touch more acid. The potatoes were yummy though! Service was friendly. There was no one there on Friday during lunch even though their Yelp waitlist had 11 parties ahead of us. We decided to walk over to see the wait in-person after we were kept at the same spot on the waitlist for over 30 minutes. The manager said he forgot to turn off Yelp waitlist, so maybe call ahead to check. Parking is a little difficult- street parking only. There are some free residential spots a few blocks away.

@flapyourjacks is a place where you have so much fun while enjoying your delicious breakfast . Cooking your creative pancake is the key in there The restaurant itself is so cute, people there are so friendly and wearing the smile all the time. Highly recommended to have a fun morning with your family and kids

Flap Your Jacks is always a fun time with the fam when we're visiting San Diego! We came here on a Sunday morning and our party of 5 didn't have to wait long for a table. The customizable pancakes that you cook yourself on the table's built in griddle are the star of the menu, but since the kids in our family usually order that and have enough for leftovers, we like trying the other dishes on the menu. This time I ordered corned beef hash. I liked it but I should have read the menu more closely. It says they use thinly sliced corned beef but I'm used to finely chopped. It was still really good though, and the flavor was spot on! Their potatoes were especially delicious! We also had the Peppa Benedict and Huevos Con Chorizo, which were so good they all joined the clean plate club. The kids both decided to order Oreo batter for their pancakes, so we weren't able to make any interesting designs with pancakes since there was no contrast in color. But they still had fun! Our server was very friendly and helpful, and the decor inside is cute. I enjoyed the fun wall images of athletes holding giant spatulas the most. Downside is that finding street parking is a challenge sometimes.

Pretty good, honestly. The pancakes were great, the main dish I had was great. I thought the lattes our table had could have been a little better but then again, coffee is coffee. The ambience of the place was also nice. Clean, a bit spacious, and plenty of tables. Service was great. I would come back again.

Pretty neat place! We came across this place walking around in North Park. We were seated very quickly and our waiter was helpful as it was our first time here. The vibe is family friendly if you want to bring your kids. The best part was being able to make your own pancakes. Many batters and topping to choose from too! Definitely recommend to give this place a try.

Cutest breakfast spot ever! Flap Your Jacks was such a fun and adorable place! We loved the DIY pancake station right at the table -- flipping your own pancakes just makes breakfast way more exciting. The batters were super tasty (we tried the red velvet and original -- so good) and there were tons of toppings to choose from. It felt like a breakfast party! But it wasn't just about pancakes -- we also tried the chilaquiles, breakfast sandwich, mushroom scramble, burger, and corned beef hash... and wow, everything was delish. Big portions, big flavor, zero complaints. The vibes were great, the food was amazing, and it was such a fun experience for our whole family. We'll definitely be back!

I've been here a few times. The place is cute with spatula decorations. The concept is great. My kids like going there to make their own pancakes. I'm not a fan as I care more about the taste. I think they are ok. I had corn beef harsh and it was good. I like that they used sliced corned beef instead of canned. The chilaquiles were tasty. The service was ok, not really welcoming. Usually there's a long wait so be prepared.

We've been here multiple times with Family and Friends. The Food and the Experience is always good. We came here today because my Son wanted to check if the place was still good as before, prior to bringing his Friends here. So far he said that it's still the same. The food is good and still Fun for Family and Friends to dine at. We ordered: *For our GRIDDLE - We chose BANANA for our batter, KITKAT for our mix, and we topped it with NUTTELLA spread. *For our Griddle - We chose RED VELVET for our batter, Marshmallows for our mix, and drenched in SALTED CARAMEL cream sauce . *MUSHROOM SCRAMBLICIOUS *PEACH BELINNI MIMOSA We made so many Pancake in different shapes, and it was so much Fun as always, everything tasted good. We combined the batters we chose and it turned out really good. My creation was the Flower and the Yelp word :) My husband also ordered the MUSHROOM SCRAMBLICIOUS, I love the Mushroom, the Spinach, the smoked bacon, and the mozzarella on this. My Peach Belinni mimosa was good. The service was good. Parking was very hard to find around. Very Fun to make your own Pancake for any ages!

Ask the Community - Flap Your Jacks

Are you pet friendly?

We have a patio that is pet friendly, but unfortunately we aren’t able to have the griddles outside. The rest of our delicious menu is available.

Do you take reservations?

We are only able to take some reservations for large parties during the week but you can always add your name on to the waitlist in Yelp before you come in if there is a wait.

Are their high chairs for toddlers who may need it?

Yes we have high chairs

Do you have locations anywhere besides San Diego like orange county anywhere?

Right now our only location is in San Diego. Thank you for your inquiry.

Hello is fyo shareable ? I have three kids would that be $8 per kid per $2 per topping per kid or is it shareable as far as the experience ? I'm sure you can imagine kids wanting multiple toppings which will add up lol

Honestly anything you get there are big portions and shareable

What time is a bit slower during a Friday?

Right when they open or later in the morning

What is the maximum number of people that can sit at one of the griddle tables? My friends and I are hoping to go but want to make sure we're not overcrowding. Thanks!

Thank you for reaching out! We can host large parties of various sizes, but our largest table can seat up to18 people. That table is often reserved for special groups, but we can accommodate many different large groups. We hope to see you soon!

Do they take reservations?

Sort of. You can wait list through the Yelp app.

Do they still have a limited menu? I really like that keto omelet and they took it off the menu.

Hi! We have our full menu available now. Hope to see you soon!

Do they do anything for birthdays?

No they don't. I took my son there for his 17th birthday and they didn't do anything special.

Do you have nutritional facts?

As of 2/22, they don't have any posted online nor did they have any readily available in the restaurant

Hi, do I have to do an RSVP or you are accepting walks in?

Hi Paulina, we don't accept reservations but we do have an online waitlist with yelp. You can join that prior to coming. Thanks!

Since we are in purple tier, do they still do the FYO?

No unfortunately they aren't. I took my son there on the 28th of November and they can't have the griddles outside. They bring you pancakes and little dishes with the toppings you chose. So you can still build your own but not FYO.

Are they allowing any indoor seating currently so guests can participate in the FYO?

No indoor seating but you can still order from the FYO menu. They make the pancakes of your batter choice and mix in then bring out your toppings (per their recent Instagram post).

Is the full menu available all day?

Yes. My bf ordered a burger while my son and I made pancakes.

Can you cook your own pancakes in the patio area as well or is in only inside?

The Create Your Own pancakes option is only available inside, but we do still have the rest of our extensive and delicious menu available on our dog-friendly patio!

Have you guys reopened yet?

Yes they have been open!

How late can you order the flap your jacks? Does it end at a certain time

Currently they close at 3pm

How much is the FYO?

HI Brianna! Each batter is $8 and each topping is $2. Hope that helps!

Do you have vegan options?

Yes we do! Here's a link to our menu and the vegan options are noted! https://flapyourjacks.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/FYJ-MENU.pdf

Being a sober girlie, I've heard about this place for years and was thrilled to finally try it so we had to order a few drinks. There's nothing quite like being able to look at a drink menu and know you can order anything from it because it's all sober friendly. They have a CBD infused drink part of the menu, a kava section and a mocktail drink section along with a food menu. The food looked delicious but we came here for a night cap after eating dinner nearby. We snagged 3 drinks- I need to check my notes on which ones we got but they were all so good. This is the type of place you can come here for a first date, date night worh your partner or co-work with your laptop. I saw all varieties of people who were doing their thang and it felt comfortable. The theme is inspired by Mac Miller and the decor is intentional and classic. I really like the growing NA trend, and even though I drink, it's great to have an alternative, safer-feeling, and more inclusive nightlife option. I came with a couple friends on a Sunday night, about a week ago. We all drink alcohol, but we've all been drinking less lately. The place was almost empty around 8pm, which we found concerning for its prospective longevity. We also thought the prices were pretty steep -- maybe I'm biased as someone who drinks alcohol, but if I'm getting a mocktail or other NA drink, I'd like to pay less than $15+ for it. Still, I ordered the Ave Maria and thought it was one of the best mocktails I've ever had. One of my friends got the Malibu (he liked it but did complain about the price), and I don't remember what my other friend got. We sat for a while and played Connect4 using the fanciest set I'd ever seen. Some more people came in, so it didn't feel nearly as empty by the time I left. I'd probably come back, but only if I was with someone who doesn't drink and/or really wanted to try this bar. I hope they make it!
