The inside

I found this place on Yelp! The decor is super cute, it has a tropical-vibe. The service was good (you order at the counter.) Where I felt Madeline could've done better was the taste of the food for the price. I believe I paid over $20 for my BLT. It was okay, but the bacon was too overcooked. I would've requested they remake it, but I was starving. I think the staff should check-in on the customers more. I would definitely give it another try next time I'm in the area. Some ideas to the owners would be: have some music playing, have a small cabinet of cards or table games to encourage conversation, and offer a point card for your loyal customers.

This café is absolutely adorable. I visited on a chilly day, and while the patio seating was cute, it was a bit too cold, so I moved inside, which ended up being very cozy. The customer service was excellent, and I really appreciated how this location incorporates Latino flavors into the menu. That said, some items fell a little short for me. The crepe was very rich and could have used a bit more salt to balance the flavors. The banana latte was good, but I was hoping the banana flavor would shine through a bit more. Overall, it's still a lovely spot with great service, and I'm definitely willing to come back and try other menu items to see if my experience changes.

Madeleine has opened in a ground floor area of the Los Patios Apartments in Barrio Logan. Unlike its older brethren, the word 'cafe' has been omitted from the business name, however the ownership was the same. Curbside parking on National Ave or a nearby side street was available. The space was more expansive than it looked from the outside. To the right of the service counter was an open courtyard within the interior of the complex that provided on-site seating. It was a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of natural lighting. The two-page menu featured breakfast plates, lunch plates, and drinks. Baked goods and pastries were on display at the service counter. I was passing by the area and wanted a beverage and a dessert. My choices were the French Lemonade and a Passionfruit Cheesecake. The drink was blend of fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and sparkling water topped with a mint sprig. It was sufficiently tart, however the fizzy water detracted. The cheesecake was shaped like a large round tart. The base layer was cheesecake while a passionfruit gelatin made up the top that was adorned by four strawberry slices. The sweet treat looked beautiful and was priced at $10. If I had more time and brought my laptop, then I would have ordered a plate and hung out in the courtyard to do some work. My visit to this newest branch of Madeleine was at a four star level.

Was in barrio logan on a Saturday morning with some friends and was looking for a place to have brunch and saw Madeline has recently opened. I've been a fan of their north park location and heard their barrio logan location was focused on more mexican-style dishes, which we loved! The vibes of the space were immaculate, beautiful and inviting. The whole space felt really great to see and sit in, loved the color scheme and how airy it was in there. The service was also wonderful, everyone was so nice there. The food was good, though a few dishes were so salt. On one hand, i was like wow these dishes have more seasoning than most places so yessss, but most of us agreed that every breakfast dish felt a bit over salted, especially the spanish omelette. They had just opened though as well so i imagine they'll be adjusting some flavors here and there. The Cubano sandwich though was delicious, hands down fire. stuffed and the fries were crissssp in the best way. wil def come back to try some pastries, and the coffee was great too!

Cortado & Butter Croissant

This is a fairly knew Madeleine location in the Barrio Logan, San Diego. I stopped in a little after 8 am Sunday morning. I wanted one of their famous almond croissants but they were still 30 minutes away from being ready, so I had to settle for a butter croissant. I didn't understand why the baked goods were not ready since they had already been open since 7 am. At any rate, the cortado I ordered was very well made. It was smooth with a rich coffee flavor. On a side note, they use "illy Coffee," a terrific 100% Arabica Coffee. The butter croissant was very good. It was quite buttery, slightly flaky, and soft. It tasted very good. Next time, the almond croissant for sure. The service at the counter was very good. The young gent who made my cortado did a great job. I was disappointed that the pastry and baked goods display was not filled when I visited. It's nice to see all those wonder items in the display. They offer a very good amount of inside seating. Street parking only.

Stopped by to meet up with a coworker and can report that this is a solid spot to do WFH if you want! As you can see the food looks delicious and there are specific coffees they have here versus their north park location. It does get a bit chilly here and with the open roof concept, it has potential to get a little loud. However it's very cozy and the staff was very warm and inviting. Will come back again to check out more stuff on the menu!

My friends and I had just finished up yoga and wanted a quick bite. We stopped at Madeline's and it was so amazing. Don't let the simplicity of the outside fool you, it is absolutely gorgeous! They have a cute inside seating area, perfect for a meal with friends. You order at the counter and they bring out the food to your table. Everything came out quick, hot, and super yummy! I got the salted caramel cold brew, and I'm still thinking about it. Can't wait to go back!

Stumbled upon this little gem in Barrio Logan after dropping off a Turo rental and I am well pleased I did! Lots of coffee choices I remember growing up with in my own hometown barrio. The service is so friendly and the ambiance is very relaxing and clean. They offer a great selection of wines and pastries, (try the tarts!) along with several breakfast items. I will be back when in the San Diego area!

Tbh the food was a bit salty but it was my kind of salty. Should they pull back a little, yes. The staff are nice, the decoration is great. 5 stars for sure.

First time here and the food was fantastic! Chilaquiles, Breakfast Panini & Nutella Crepe were all very flavorful. I'll definitely be coming back!

It's great to have this location here in barrio logan now! The vibe and decor is pretty nice, it's within a lobby of a complex. The drinks were good and the food was solid. Got the madaleine omelette and the meile latte. Great place to chill and work away from home!

Came with a friend and enjoyed the space. Very cute and cozy. Only thing is it's a little breezy but overall cute ambiance. Service is also super friendly.

This place is amazing! Highly recommend checking it out. The food is great and super fresh. Love the aesthetic this is just what Barrio Logan needed. The ginger green tea is also a must have!!!

As a Colombian who has been craving authentic Colombian cuisine since my last visit to New York in…read moreDecember, I can confidently say this restaurant truly satisfied those cravings. Being nearly eight months pregnant, my expectations were especially high, and it is rare to find a place that meets them so well. From the seasoning of the food to the warm and attentive service, everything about this restaurant stands out. Although I don't recall my server's name, he was incredibly kind and provided excellent service throughout. The ambiance is also worth noting--the space is large, offers plenty of seating options, and even features a large TV, making it a great spot to relax or watch sports. To start, I ordered a watered mango juice along with a beef empanada. The empanada exceeded my expectations--despite being on the smaller side, it was packed with flavor. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered five more to go, which speaks for itself. They were served with fresh ají, a traditional sauce that complemented them perfectly. For my main course, I had the carne asada plate, which included steak, rice, beans, sweet plantains, avocado, tomato slices, and a small arepa. Every component of the dish was well-executed--the beans were flavorful, the meat was well-seasoned, and the overall plate felt authentic. It is often difficult to find truly authentic Colombian food, especially in San Diego, where options are limited or not genuinely Colombian. This restaurant, however, delivers on authenticity and flavor. The portion size was generous, and I ended up taking leftovers home to enjoy later. In addition to the empanadas (two chicken and three beef), I also ordered a buñuelo and a cheese arepa to go. Unfortunately, these items did not meet the same standard. The arepa lacked flavor and was overly greasy, and the buñuelo was dry and similarly oily, even after absorbing excess grease from the bag. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Colombian food, especially given how rare it is to find quality options in this area. Friends of mine visited recently as well and thoroughly enjoyed their bandeja paisa, further confirming the consistency of the food. I will definitely be returning--especially for those empanadas.

Nothing you would get food or drink wise felt it was justified and the food was really plain or didn't taste good. We decided on Las Hadas since they had low tables vs. the hightop tables at Freddy's. It was pretty empty inside and out on a Saturday around 1 pm so that was good for us! The restaurant is roomy and bright inside and the patio has plenty of tables. It was clean and semi-comfy, due to the metal chairs outdoor. The menus were kinda gross, sticky and dirty but love the choices they offer for food and drink. I started with a passion fruit margarita with casadores, that was really yummy. We ordered the guac and chips, chicken nachos and 4 tacos. The food was excellent! The chips were so crispy and fresh and the guac had just been made. Nachos were delish, esp with the beans, they put at the bottom of plate so had to dig for that. The tacos tho were the best, topped with a guac salsa and lots of meat. The corn tortillas are legit, they taste housemade. Our server provided excellent service and the pricing was very reasonable.
