My upstairs zone AC air handler stopped working during this crazy September heat wave with temps consistently in the 90s all week. Called for an emergency service repair to try to get me up and running. They were able to squeeze me in only 2 hours after calling. Service call rate was extremely reasonable (half the price of others I called that weren't able to get to me for at least a day - even as an "emergency"). Inspected my condenser coil and pressure, air handler coil, and blower motor. Diagnosed blower motor control unit on the fritz / starting to fail, combined with super high head pressure due to clogged condenser unit coil. Was able to get me back up and running cleaning coil and jump starting blower motor within 30 minutes and unit cooling much better than it was before to hopefully get me through this heat wave before cooler fall temps come back. While they were here they were able to measure and run some calculations to put together an estimate for me to convert my upstairs zone over to a ducted heat pump setup, relocating my air handler for my second story upstairs zone to my attic from my basement and better plenum / air box design to help resolve lack of airflow issues also contributing to inefficient cooling upstairs vs replacing the blower motor in a 12 year old unit as a cheaper option. With that said service rep was very knowledgeable and transparent regarding the different options and cost effectiveness. Never felt like I was being pressured or sold in any direction, only given details to make an informed decision. Hoping when I get the estimate back to convert this zone to heat pump, taking advantage of various rebates (federal and state / PSEGLI as they are an approved contractor for utility rebates to stack), alongside attractive financing options to help with monthly budget crunch due to overall inflation from pandemic, that will be able to upgrade and save money in the long term vs trying to keep my 12 year old less efficient Rheem system running. Definitely going to continue to use Central air systems for service and preventative maintenance going forward! I will provide an update once I have the heat pump installed, but given my extremely positive service experience, hopeful that value on install and overall performance is also a 5 star experience. The comment made me a bit nervous to settle a contract -- and I told Dave to please pay attention to the wiring in the attic (which was my concern). After the AMAZING experience my family had with KinTech, I wanted to leave my first-ever comment on Yelp for Dave and his company. I am not an easy customer :). KinTech is a local Long Island company and its service (both its job and customer service) felt local/neighborly. When Dave (the somewhat hard-to-believe soft-voiced manager I had talked to on the phone) stopped by for the estimate visit, my wife and I were taken aback positively for his relaxed, friendly dealing (he had a new kind of tea with us :), while sharing details and options). In response to our situation of having already dumped too much money on prior upgrades, he found an affordable configuration for our transition from baseboard heating only to central heating/cooling, including the latest tech and conveniences. But our 5 stars are not just for the quality of mateiral and work and the professionalism of the people who came in our house (Dave sent the most friendly pair of men we've had working in the house). Dave is different. Dave communicated in the most professional and friendly way among maybe 20 contractors we've worked with in the past decade on Long Island as home owners (he reminded us of the genteel South, without the occasional lack of experience with diverse customers LOL). We didn't sense any dishonesty (very common in most home repair/service businesses esp. up here in New York) and that made us very comfortable with Dave. He did ask for a few extra days when he had to juggle different projects, including his gramdma's house that needed urgent attention. But he didn't play games with us, didn't treat us like however the "market demand tells" (as one contractor blurted out recently), and he LISTENED. This guy is something. Give him a chance, and if the project at our home was an exception, share a different perspective. The project was finished on time, pitch perfect, and Dave said he's even willing to come back and calibrate the air flow and add an extra vent. We were already surprised when he sent his guys to double check and clean up. So, I guess customers should communicate our demands and give hard working people a chance to rectify small things after they do all the major and difficult work right (it's a different matter if someone messes up major things or uses a generally problematic approach). As a Long Islander, it makes me proud to see people like this reflect our culture -- not the weirdos especially of the older generation who take customers for granted (I've come across a bit too many of those, including among the younger business owners). I would love to see KinTech grow and to maintain the very, very, very friendly professionalism that Dave has established. KinTech and Dave and the two friendly guys all get 5 stars and a big invisible smiley for the phenomenal job in December 2021.

He was so friendly, so informative, just a really nice guy, found the problem right away and fixed it right away, and he gave my all sorts of tips on what to do about other problems I have been having with my old Patchogue house. They started out pleasant enough, but when they saw the NEST thermostat, things started going downhill. Since they didn't know how to use a NEST thermostat with their equipment, they got a bit nasty. They blamed things on the electrician who installed it (even though he installed two other NEST thermostats in the same house, which are operating just fine). Then they said the thermostat was "too smart" for the A/C equipment they installed. Apparently one of the technicians spoke to their boss (I'm presuming the owner of the company) who instructed them to tell me that installing the NEST thermostat voided the warranty on the A/C system (not true, by the way, according to the builder). Then they got really nasty, saying there was nothing they could do since the warranty had been voided. A few minutes later I was told that they had been instructed to leave the premises. It seemed as though they didn't know what to do when faced with something they were obviously too stupid to deal with. By the way, as soon as they arrived they handed me a paper and asked me to fill it out right away. They wanted to sell a service contract, priority service agreement, etc. After the way the owner of the company treats prospective clients, why would ANYONE ever do business with Bobby O's?

I have been in the design and building industry for 4 decades and I rarely come across such opportunistic behavior as the one I experienced with my interactions with Brian of Twin Air. We bought a newly built house this January 2024. The house was built by Twin forks construction company in 2023 and finished sometime in April 2023. The owner had to moved out of state so they sold it only having lived in it for the weekends of the summer and fall of 2023. Less than a year to date!. We entered the house January 5, 2024 and immediately realized that the Nest thermostat installed for the HVAC system is doing whatever it wants, raising the temperature and lowering it at will, but we had heat so it was not urgent. We figured we would address it next time the HVAC people were over to discuss the new items I wanted to discuss with them. I had contacted Brian of Twin Air to come out and see us because we wanted to make some modifications and additions to the system in our plans to expand the home. After I spoke to him once early January when he did not know what his schedule would be, he never called me back although I left numerous messages. About once a week I would call and leave a message if someone can get in touch with me to discuss the changes I wanted to make. Finally a lady in their office picked up who told me she was away for 2 weeks and maybe that is why people Were not as responsive and she asked what was the visit for to let Brian of Twin Air know; so I gave her a short list. Never heard back from anyone. They never came and I never met them in person. This past weekend, February 23-25 the HVAC system stopped producing heat and regardless what temperature we set the thermostat to, it stayed at 61-64 degrees maximum. It was thankfully not cold one. Now this became an emergency so I called Twin air, who finally called me Monday, not during the weekend, only to say that my system is out of warranty and that they would charge me $165 for the visit since I am the second home owner and that they can only come this Thursday!!! Imagine you are in your home with jackets hats and scarfs and the company that installed the system not even a year ago tells you that they have an opening 5days later..... and you have to pay for The visit... after the first month the system has experienced continuous usage for heat. The previous owner forwarded me an email where Brian was stating in April 10,2023 that he "just finished the work last week"; hence April ,2023. Today Brian tells me that the work was finished in January 3rd when clearly that is not true and that he conveniently does not remember who installed the Nest thermostat, although it is stated by him that he left the Nest box on the boiler", in the same email to the previous owner. Needless to say he did want to come and troubleshoot the system under warranty but even so, he never confirmed he could fix the thermostat that he claimed he did not remover who installed it. You can make your own assertions from this story, however, I want to stress to anyone out there looking to do work with this company that they should think three times before hiring them. They might seem nice at first glance but you don't know what they will do when something goes wrong if you are lucky enough to get them to respond on the phone.
