I really like this cute motel. It's conveniently close to the SAP Center and downtown. Parking is included, and the room has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. There's even a Starbucks right across the street. The shower pressure is strong, and the toilet works well. The only downsides are that there's no safe in the room and the blankets feel a bit outdated. read more

I will say that when it comes to lodging at a motel, hotel, or Airbnb, I have to factor in a lot of things. Some of the top priorities are the area/location, cleanliness, condition, beds, amenities, and overall value. With as many places that I've stayed at, this place actually hit the spot, a rarity for a 'motel'. Which takes me none other to the "Flamingo Motel". Located directly on The Alameda in the heart of San Jose, this place definitely has a lot of charm to it. Looking at this motel from the outside, this place looks old. Even the neon pink lettering is something straight out of the 1960's. The only thing you're missing is a Ford Thunderbird convertible playing Frank Sinatra and you'd think this is a blast to the past. However, the exterior has quite a bit of character and this place offers ample (as well as overflow) parking. The grounds itself were well-kept with a working soda/snack vending machine, an ice machine, a small swing, and a little flower garden. Since my check-in was at 3:00pm (during the afternoon of Friday, July 28, 2023), I figured I would show up a little early at around 2:10pm. And after parking directly in front of the small lobby, the nice gentleman behind the counter was able to give me my key-card after I made my payment. Nothing is better than checking-in 45 minutes early and getting settled. The process was so easy and painless, transporting my luggage to my room was only about a 15 foot walk. As far as how my room looked, I had a spacious queen sized bed (that was quite comfortable), two nightstands, a 40" LCD TV (with Dish Network + 100 channels), a decent sized mini refrigerator and a small microwave. There is also a nice sized desk/study area, a comfy leather chair, a large mirror, a TV tray, and a fairly decent sized heater/air conditioning unit. There was no closet for your clothes but there was one closet pole directly above the fridge/microwave with about 5 wooden hangers. Most importantly, the Wi-Fi speeds were very fast which is great for streaming live videos on your phone/tablet. But the real gem here is actually their bathroom. This was huge and had the pink walls complete with faux-wood flooring throughout. Since this bathroom did not have a tub, it actually utilizes two shower heads as well as a plastic chair in case you wish sitting while taking your shower. Only basic soap, shampoo, and conditioner were provided so I recommend bringing your own body wash/shower gel as well as a travel sized loofah sponge to make your shower experience much better. All in all, I actually slept great at the "Flamingo Motel" even though this place is right on a main street. One of the biggest advantages of this place is that it is less than a mile away from SAP Center and within a couple blocks, you will find a "Peet's Coffee", "Uncle John's Pancake House", "Mexico Lindo Y Cantina", and a ton more restaurants. There is also a bookstore, a gym, and much more within walking distance. When you factor in the great price I paid for my one-night stay ($105 including tax in July 2023), service, and convenience, I am giving this place a respectable four-star rating. read more

Came to town for a hockey game, and this motel seemed to be the best rated and price point for us. I love the vibrant colors and neon signs of the building, all the doors are pink, which is super fun. We were located on the 2nd floor corner room. The room had lots of unique touches, crown molding on the ceiling, shutters on the window. A mini fridge and microwave. Our TV didn't work great, but we weren't there to watch TV so no big deal. The carpeting looked to be pretty new, there was a sitting area, with a desk. This was close enough to walkt to the SAP Center, there's a Mexican restaurant across the street, and winery down the street. Great location, and great spot to stay. read more

This is a great value hotel! I needed a quick and easy hotel to stay at for a San Jose Sharks game and booked this last minute. The location is by far one of the biggest selling points of this hotel. It's less than a mile walking distance to SAP center and there is so many food/coffee shops within walking distance. The hotel itself is a little retro, my only downside is that they still use old school printed comforter sets which make it hard to see if they're clean as opposed to white sets. However, the room smelled super clean upon arrival so I wasn't too worried about it. Bathroom is large and cute, bed is comfortable enough for a short trip. The front desk ladies were friendly and the check in process was quick! I'll definitely stay here again for my next concert or hockey game. read more

Me and my partner stayed here after our prom night and it was fantastic! The rooms were very clean and the bedsheets smelled new and fresh. No funky odors. They provided everything you'd need like a microwave, fridge, blowdryer, ironing board and an iron along with some soap bars, lotion, and shampoo. They also provided a lot of towels! The room itself was quite cold and the location of the motel is a bit sketchy so be mindful of that. We did encounter a strange individual who was walking around the rooms talking to himself but he wasn't disturbing anyone he was kinda just there. 3 days after staying at this hotel, I broke out with an extreme case of bed bug bites. I had previously come from my own home (no pets or visitors) and returned straight after - so there is no other place I could have gotten these bites. I called the hotel and they of course denied that it was possible saying "the cleaners look for bed bugs every day" and that they even had a pest control person come to look at the room. I asked for some sort of confirmation that they had pest control come and they told me to just write my review instead - "we know how to handle these situations". 100% do NOT recommend this place to stay. read more

What a cute place! I was drawn to this motel on a business trip to San Jose. I really was surprised how cute the place was and how it themed with the Art Deco look of the neighborhood. From the pink doors, and walls, and the funky chair and archway to the bathroom area, the minor details were nicely done. The air conditioner / heater was quiet, and I loved that there was a bath tub. The front desk attendant kindly showed me how the modern faucets worked, but when I see a tub, I grab some Epsom salts and relax! With the exceptions of a weird glass side table (could be improved), a bit of cleaner odor, and no toilet seat covering, the room was nicely remodeled to more modern amenities. The bed was comfortable. I LOVED the screen over the window, and how it completely blocked out the light and helped with the sweltering heat that was happening in the area that day. The parking onsite was nice, I could see my car from my room. I was able to walk to get a cup of tea in the morning, and there were many places to eat within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again, if in the area. The only suggestion I really have is for the staff. I was there during a heat wave, and given a second story room, which was in direct sunlight all day. With checkin at 3pm, the room air conditioning was not on, so the room was super hot, thus making my hopeful nap not possible (after a very long drive). I ended up killing the 3 hours it took to cool it down walking in a local mall, and came back to a cool room. read more

I always have walked passed this motel during my stays in San Jose and always had bad vibes about this place. So reluctantly, I decided to try and stay over there this weekend. First thing that surprised me was walking into the check inn station. A receptionist was behind a glass window. Sure, that might be for protection reasons? Not sure the story of that but just was odd. But he didn't even greet with a simple hello just asked us how many nights was being stayed. Also, on the window warns a security deposit of $250. That's pretty high! This room was 109: Walking towards rooms and one thing I notice is rooms were very close toward each other. Entering room it seemed standard till I inspected the room. Had an odd smell. First thing I tried was the tv. Modern flat screen tv however it is mounted to the wall. So if you want to bring a chromecast, ps4 etc this place might not be the place for you because they will block your connection attempt. Cable service is dish tv. Bed was decent but pillows were too soft. Mini fridge was good, microwave normal. Bathroom was very small almost as small as a closet with no windows for ventilation. The room is energy saving so you have to hit a switch to use certain ports of the room. A/C is very outdated. Another thing that got me is maid service comes early to your room and tries to clean when you still have time left in your room. One good thing about this location is it's in the middle of all the local shops like Peets, Starbucks, Greenlees, CVS, Chipotle, Sushi infinity, etc were all walking distance. SAP center is also walking distance as well maybe 15-20 minutes away depending how fast you walk. Overall, I will not stay here again and continue with my life and walk pass this location as I will try and forget this overnight stay. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this location. read more

We rode our Harley a long way and needed a place to stay to relax. We made reservation on line thru Booking.com was easy. Pictures look like place from 70's but was cheaper then motel 6 across street. Staff was great. Front desk was pleaseant. Everything was pink (hence name flamingo). The rooms were so nice and new. New carpet. Tile in bathroom. New furniture. Bed was comfy. No amenities like pool or gym but room was better than expected. Close to coffe shop. Great staff. For shame! A local homeless man was in need of a place to stay until he was able to get a full-time home after his roommate died and he couldn't afford the increased rent. So, my wife and I booked with this motel through Hotwire. We brought the man there, and we were turned away because he doesn't have an ID. Even after all the explanation, this man who was in need was turned away. Terrible to say the least. In five minutes, the Motel 6 across the street had him booked into a room. Old school kind of cool like the one on El Caminio and Wolf, the Wild Palms Motel!! LoL It has a 1970 Honolulu Motel decor and ambience throw back right on the corner of Race and The Alameda! It's cozy but still semi seedy but they are constantly upscalling around the neighborhood! Close to lots of great little eating hangs along with the new Wholefoods that has the margarita vile like bar on top that overlooks the Shark Tank! SAP center! Traffic is fairly heavy and you are right across the street from Creama a great coffee shop! The motel itself has decent but old rooms and lots of private lot parking off the busy street so not a problem there. About the same price as the newer Motel 6 across the street. For a one night stop it's ok but if I were staying longer I would go across or down the street first. read more

We stayed one night (8/2/17 to 8/3/2017) after a trip to San Francisco. I was impressed! The lady was friendly in the office and very helpful. The hotel exterior felt more like apartments than a hotel. There was ample lighting and the neighborhood was quiet and business like. The actual room was very clean, the mattresses had mattress covers and then the bedding which I was impressed by. I loved the different shades of pink used as the theme. My boyfriend booked a room here for 1 night for $80 with tax is $91. But at the end, he got charged for $104 (2 times on the day we rent) plus $345 (on the next day). He didn't know until he got home and checked his account, so he called them and they said he broke the mirror. But actually the mirror was broken before that. Besides that, they gave a room with torn apart sign saying "unsafe, no enter". He told the receptionist about the sign, and the receptionist said it is supposed to be painted, but haven't done so. And they rent it out. Anyway, he didn't report or complain or ask for switching a room or anything, because he is a very kind, easygoing person. Besides, the mirror was broken close to the edge, not in the middle, so it is still ok to use. I wouldn't write this review if they didn't charge a room for 1 night for more than $500 (actual amount is $91). Who wouldn't get upset or angry for that? Checked in 7/13/18. Checked Out 7/15/18. We checked into Motel The Flamingo on July, Friday the 13th. My boyfriend and I came to San Jose primarily to see the famous Winchester Mystery house. After driving about seven hours we were very exhausted but were greeted by nicest people at this motel. It is being managed by a family (it's nice to support smaller businesses). There was space to park, but the first night there was a section of the parking lot being repaved which made the parking more limited and challenging to get in and out of the designated parking for the motel. Hopefully that won't happen for those who are considering staying at this motel. I believe all of the parking was ready to use by the time we were ready to check out lol The entire motel is non-smoking which is great for me my partner. Our room was ready when we got there. The room was clean and in order, there were clean towels, soap, lotions, the trash was emptied frequently, our bed would be made when we got back to our room, very respectful cleaning staff. Oh! They have a small refrigerator and microwave in the room, that helped us keep our water cool and left over meals from going bad and could eat them later. The room also had a television and cable. There was a little coffee maker and nice amenities. Should we travel to San Jose I would want to stay here again. I would recommend this motel. Affordable compared to other motels and hotels in this area, friendly management and staff. read more

The Alameda has been experiencing a renaissance over the past few years. New businesses have been springing up such as Rosie's New York Pizza, Calvin's Philly Cheesesteaks, and Tee Nee Thai and it has given the whole area a major face lift. For nearly 2 years, I loved living in this neighborhood. Good people. Good food. Good times. During that time (2007-09), my dad, a San Jose native of over 30 years, found out I was living in the area. This prompted him to ask me if there were a lot of hookers walking up and down the Alameda. I told him I hadn't seen any. According to his stories, the Alameda was very different when he moved to the area. It was full of pimps, drug dealers, and hookers. Times have definitely changed for the Alameda. It's has been cleaned up a lot. But one thing that has stayed is the Flamingo Motel. I used to wonder about this particular establishment. How does it stay in business? Who stays there? What would it be like to spend the night there? Well, back in the day, based on pure speculation, the Flamingo Motel stayed the business came through dirty deeds. It was most likely filled with hookers, Johns, and maybe people involved in extramarital affairs. A night there may have been sinfully delicious. These days, I have no idea how it stays in business. But I know who stays there. I assume a good bit of the clientele are people involved in extramarital affairs since there always seems to be a market for that, especially during the work week. And I guess other potential clients are average people like me that need place to stay whenever his nearby apartment complex loses water and electricity in the same week. Sadly, this did happen and desperately need to take a shower, drink a cold beer, and play on Facebook or something. In the end, my night here was fairly average. And by average, I mean there were no hookers, strippers, married women, pimps, or drugs. Just a place to shower, do some work online, and get some rest before work the following day. The place offers reasonable prices and the room I stayed in was pretty clean. You don't have to worry about catching crabs from the bed or "godknowswhat" from the toilet. It's a solid place to stay, but there are much better options within walking distance of this joint. By the way, they do not charge by the hour. So for those involved in extramarital affairs, be prepared to pay for a full stay. read more

The Flamingo has been my mid-week home away from home for a year now and I love it. The rooms are large, nicely remodeled and very, very clean. Many restaurants and coffee shops (plus a Whole Foods market) are in walking distance as is the RoseGarden neighborhood with it's historic homes and the Rosicrucian Museum and garden. Best of all, Samir and his family live on site and work hard to make sure you are taken care of. It's not fancy - there isn't a pool or breakfast - but it represents a tremendous value. The place was super clean, i was honestly surprised "for a motel". Never allowed maid service, for personal reasons. But she always gave us fresh towels! A/c was on all weekend, without a prob. Tv is a wide screen!! Super surprised about that too. Parking was awesome. We couldnt order movies which was a bummer, there wasnt a dvd player either. The rooms are always extreamly CLEAN!!!, the front desk staff is always friendly, they will help you with whatever momentary need their guest may have, to the best of their abilities any time day or night. This family ran establishment definitely makes their guest feel like they are at their home away from home, making sure their guests are satisfied with their stay. They defiantly Give me the feeling that while here I can relax, and I always feel secure and safe, allowing a great night sleep on their comfy clean beds, at the Flamingo. Have I mentioned, the rates? Well the Flamingo has the absolute BEST RATES!!! You will find here in the city is San Jose.
