5 stars because of Lizette (spelling) is amazing! I booked a stay for three people, three rooms. I had to call three times for changes. Lizette helped me twice, and remembered me from the first call. Helped me quickly, and was friendly while helping me. I gave her a pretty difficult situation to deal with. The hotel itself is nice. I wish it had a restaurant or bar or maybe breakfast. I would take two stars away for that, but Lizette saved this hotel from a star reduction. read more

I booked this hotel for a 1 week work trip and I really enjoyed my stay. It is very local to lots of food, coffee shops and stores. I loved the hotel's vibe from like back in the day, but with modern hotel amenities. It makes it distinctive to all the other hotels that end up looking like one another now. They do only offer valet at $53 a night, but the valet guys were very helpful. Angel from valet was very helpful and sweet, who would try to have my car ready every morning so I wouldn't have to wait. The ladies from front desk were also very helpful and kind. If I have to come back I would definitely stay here again. read more

We made a reservation with the hotel directly but upon checkout the bill was $50 higher than quoted. I mentioned to them that the price was incorrect but they said they didn't have the ability to adjust it but assured me it would be taken care of with a followup email. Never received anything. I called back twice with more assurances that it would be fixed but nobody ever had the power to do anything ... always "somebody else" would deal with it. We had gone there for a mini getaway to see a show at SAP center and location wise it was very convenient but the noise all night from the street and having only think single paned windows was incessant. We got very little sleep. The restaurant is closed for renovation but we weren't warned of this ahead of time. Overall the front desk staff were pleasant and the hotel looked nice but it was an incredibly disappointing stay and we would say to avoid the place unless they finish upgrading and renovating. And make sure to get correct bill at checkout to avoid being ripped off. read more

We stayed 08/09/26 for a concert. We chose early arrival 3:00 pm. But was told to wait because the room wasn't ready till 4:00 pm. Finally we got our key went to our room & it was 93 degrees. The air conditioning wasn't working. We let them know at the lobby and not much help. We left for dinner 1-2 hours later... the room is 91 degrees and it's so fresh outside. We've stayed at Hotel De Anza before without any issues, but our August 2026 stay was very disappointing. The air conditioning wasn't working, and our room reached 87 degrees. The Wi-Fi and several electrical outlets also didn't work. We reported the problems, but they couldn't guarantee the AC would be fixed. We appreciated that they didn't charge us for the night. However, we ended up checking out and getting a room at the Signia by Hilton downtown. Unfortunately, we won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Booked this hotel for an overnight stay with a few coworkers to attend an annual work retreat. The staff was nice, the check in and out process was easy and the rooms were smaller than expected but adequate and cozy. Mini fridge, mid size flatscreen, remodeled restrooms and comfy bed. I got a good nights sleep. The food is very tasty. We ordered catered breakfast, lunch and dinner for the group over the 2 days. Everyone enjoyed it. read more

Overpriced hotel with outdated decor. The only plus to this hotel is the location. Even the valet service was $45 per night for a registered guest. The rooms are very small and the updated remodel was basically "lipstick on a pig". Would not recommend as there are many more better options in the area. read more

Great hotel, we got a double bed room and it was very clean and tidy. The toiletries were from NEST which I appreciated since they were high quality. Leaving 4 stars because of the parking situation, the valet was quite expensive. Staff was accommodating, would stay here if I visit San Jose again. read more

Hire staff with literally any social skills. I booked using the app HotelTonight for halloween night. My friends and I were quiet and respectful. For starters, I called about parking TWICE and was informed of where to find it. After not seeing anything, I had a friend enter and the front desk and her say "we're out for the night" which would have been helpful information less than 5 minutes prior when we spoke to her on the phone. Ok, whatever. We were able to get parking at AC Hotel. Second, check out time was not mentioned once at check-in. I figured I would use the time listed on the app. The woman to came to our door at 11:48 as we were packing up and told us that check-out was at 11 and I let her know it said 12. She said that 12 is free checkout (??) and extremely rudely informed us that I was being charged $100 if we weren't out in 10 minutes. Like ok? yes? I understand how checkout works lol no need for the attitude. Even my friends were appalled that anyone in a customer facing role (which 2 of us are) would speak to anyone in that tone. Anyway, TLDR: Do NOT stay here! Literally anywhere else in downtown is better read more

Stayed here for a work trip on the weekdays, and it was fun to see them host a kpop pop up store before the Tomorrow x Together concert. Staff are very nice, and they have additional staff working at the doors to welcome you back in the evenings. Location is close to the airport (which has its pros and cons with noise -they do provide earbuds) and close to San Pedro street and alleyway where there are so many food options within walking distance. Didn't need to have a car to enjoy the night life at the nearby businesses, and it felt safe as a small group when moving around. Would come back! read more

Easy check in services and nice clean room! Felt really safe as you need your keycard to get into the building and to get the elevator to go up to the higher floors. I wasn't a fan of the additional charges they put on and charge you for when you check in under the promise of refunding them once you leave (a security fee and something else I cant remember) but after getting back home these extra charges WERE dropped as promised so, just be aware I suppose. I paid for parking in the lot across the street via spothero and did not use the valet services so I can't speak to them and I didn't see anyone else using the valet during my stay, but that is an option if you want it, there is no free parking near this hotel that I found. Super nice 10min walk to the SAP center and back (TXT concert!). My only genuine complaint is that a diet coke was $5 and the toilets did not have very strong flushing pressure. The shower was great and very nice water pressure though so no complaints there. read more

Let me start off by saying we selected this hotel based on cost and photos. In retrospect I should have looked more closely on Yelp at the visitor experiences from the past. Had I done that they would not have been my selection. I purchased it through a search in Kayak and paid the fee for a one night stay for an event in San Jose. The impression I was given was that that included all fees. Upon arrival I noted several things, one it's not in the best area. This is reinforced by brass hotel entry doors that remain locked and can only be opened by inside staff or a room key. Parking is problematic forcing you to opt for the $48 valet fee (most definitely overpriced). As I checked in I was surprised to learn they needed my credit card despite having a paid reservation. At first glance I assumed it was a security deposit or maybe a deposit for a room with a stocked bar (wishful thinking though, no stocked anything). But was instead informed that it was a $17.00 "Destination Fee" as they were under the Hyatt Boutique Hotels. A quick google search yielded the following on the Hyatt site: To enhance your stay, a daily destination fee of $14.95 (subject to change) will apply to each room of your stay at Hotel De Anza to provide you with the amenities services. Let me start off by speaking about the amenities Hyatt must have been referring to. The lobby had a working elevator so I am grateful for that amenity. Secondly, the shower and toilet were working and I am grateful for that. but that is exactly where the amenities end. There was no breakfast, not even a muffin or coffee I might get when I stayed at a Sleazy Eight hotel paying 1/3 of the cost. They did however have a small overpriced cafe if I wanted something to eat. The room had NO MICROWAVE, but I could travel 6 floors down to the lobby to use the one they had there (does that count as an amenity?). There was also no room safe, and while I didn't need one I have seen them in cheaper hotels in better areas of town. The air conditioning unit was what you might find in an apartment built in the 1980's a full wall exhaust port into the room with a noisier than desired result as you tried to sleep on a mattress that would chip a tooth if you tried to jump onto the king sized bed. And no I am not exaggerating, the mattress was exceptionally hard. The decor was a roaring 30's montage of women actresses, singers and dancers that gave it a somewhat bougie if not debauchery ridden appearance spread across hotel and room artwork as well as the room door numbers. The wireless service in the room felt like 1990's 2400 baud modem speeds that made web browsing tedious. The rug in the room looked like it had texture at one time as I could see the texture patterns on the other area of the room but the high traffic areas were worn down making it appear dingy and unsightly. It probably sounds like I am needlessly picking apart this hotel but when a one night stay approaches $300 in a hotel that is that disappointing I just wish I had stayed at any reputable hotel and paid $300 for a truly all-inclusive experience that lacked a DESTINATION FEE for "Amenities" that are simply the standard of a good hotel. I still have no clue what amenity that destination fee alluded to as the stay was that disappointing. I will never stay there again and strongly recommend you forgo the same disappointment. read more

2 stars cause the location was great, but that's about it. The rooms look nothing like the picture. The wall paper in our room was pilling everywhere. Oh and the step in and out of the shower is just dangerous. The staff is okay, not nice but not mean. If that makes sense. The valet guys both days were super nice and friendly. But my main reason for 2 stars is a missing charger. I have an eye witness that said IT WAS on the bed. That was at 11:45 when we were on the road. So I decided to give it some time, knowing they need to clean the room still and will find it. So I called at 6:15pm and was told. The room is still being cleaned and someone will call me. As of this morning no call back. So I just called and Per Tia no charger found. But I don't believe that. Cause when I called she was like oh you were in room 712 and no charge was found. I said nope wrong room. She then said oh room 716. I said no we were on the sixth floor Tia. Ohhh I see the message okay so no we didn't find a charger. She then asked me if there was Anyway it was left in the rental car, I said no cause we drove in our personal car and we unpacked at this point and no charge. The conversation was over at that point. Absolutely loved our stay at **Hotel De Anza** in San Jose! We booked a modern corner room and wow--**the views of the city were just stunning**. Waking up to that skyline each morning felt like such a treat. The room itself was super clean, stylish, and had that perfect mix of comfort and cool. From the moment we arrived, **the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming**. A special shoutout to **Jose**, who helped us with our luggage--he was so friendly and made us feel right at home. While we were a little bummed that the restaurant wasn't open during our visit, **The Hedley Room bar totally made up for it**. It became our favorite little spot in the evenings, thanks to the amazing vibe--and even more thanks to **Karen**, their superstar bartender. She was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. We were traveling with our daughter, and Karen went out of her way to put on a show for her on the TV and even brought her some cherries to snack on. We booked and paid for a suite. When we arrived at the hotel we were told they had to give our suite to another guest and they put us in a standard room with an apology and $17 off our valet parking. They did not even refund us our money. The room was below par. The coffee maker and toilet bowl were dirty. The blinds did not go up. They were broken. The toilet, would not shut off and kept us up all night running. The vanity mirror is so high I couldn't use it and I am 5'4". There is no counter space in the bathroom. The bed is extremely uncomfortable and the pillows so flat you may as well not use one. The TV also doesn't even have ESPN yet the hotel is close to the Shark arena, the only perk. When we went to get the car from valet there was a long line and not enough staff not to mention the 10 min wait for the elevator. I recommend searching for another hotel. read more

BEWARE!!! STAY ELSEWHERE!!! I booked a One-night stay 2weeks in advance with Hotels.com and needed an early check-in which the hotel offers on their website for an additional $50; i obliged and showed up at 1pm for early check-in. I knew something was of when the gal Isa at the front desk mis-quoted the charge for $100. Early check-in was not possible. Here we go. We return at 530pm (an hour and a half after standard checkin time) Suddenly all the guests begin to arrive and NONE of their rooms were ready! Like EVERYBODY'S rooms were still dirty including mine! How does this happen!?!? The gal who was helping me this time left her post at the front to assist in cleaning rooms and never returned so I was stuck with Isa, who has a very limited vocabulary and zero to no conflict resolution skills . Many guests were in town for the Sharks game on March 22nd and needed to shower and change for the game. They were instructed to leave their luggage at the front desk and wait for a phone call!!! Here's the icing... I live 3hrs away from san jose and ended up driving all the way home due no rooms being clean by 630pm!!! This was a nightmare, and after looking back online through the years of comments on Hotel De Anza I wish I would have done my research, there is a legacy of bad service, maintainance issues, & lack of leadership from management. I loved staying at this iconic hotel. Charmed and mesmerized with their Art Deco architecture, colors, furnishings, and, lighting. Taken account of when it was built, spacious and comfortable was my suite. Short at the moment is this hotel's amenities. Their bar and restaurant were not open. No valet on site when I checked in. No toiletries provided till asked for. Plastic cups instead of glassware it was in room. Still, if I have a meeting or attending a Sharks game in San Jose again, I would choose to stay here. The people are great! The location is great! Rooms overall are great! The only suggestion I have is to upgrade the bedding. Sheets are a little scratchy. I would NOT ever come back to Hotel De Anza for the following reasons: 1. Heater stuck on making the room too hot to sleep in. 2. No on-site hotel parking except $47/nite valet. 3. Additional $50 destination fee in addition to Priceline fee. 4. Being assigned to a handicapped room when other rooms available. 5. Can't walk on both sides of bed because it's against the window. 6. This is a 93 year old hotel charging 2024 construction pricing. 7. Ryan @ front desk horrible attitude & not offering room reassignment due to 100% occupancy. As a former San Jose resident, I thought staying at this hotel when I was visiting was a must since the legacy of this hotel in SJ is well known. For $160 a night, got in my hotel room and the first thing I saw was blood stains on my pillow case and sheets. Not a great start. The second thing is that the shower is on a very weird. When you get out the shower there is about a foot drop and I wasn't expecting that. Yes there's a caution watch step inside the shower but it's still very dangerous. Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. When we arrived, the air conditioning in our room wasn't working. Maintenance came and said it couldn't be fixed, and the front desk would move us to a new room. After over an hour with no call and multiple failed attempts to reach the front desk (calls were either busy or disconnected), we went down ourselves. We were told the hotel was fully booked and the entire 4th floor had no AC, but other guests on that floor said theirs worked fine. We had to get ready for an event in an 82° room. They said that the air would be turned on within an hour, but 6 hours later it was still blazing hot. Later that night, we were finally assigned a new room--at nearly midnight. We had to pack and move all our things ourselves, and the new room had two double beds instead of the king we booked. Valet service was also very slow with only one attendant. We were told we would have easy access in and out of our car, but they actually park the car a few blocks away in a parking garage. Parking in the parking garage yourself only costs 20$, but the valet cost 53$. The restaurant/bar was closed on a busy Saturday, which was disappointing because we couldn't have a drink before our event. I contacted the manager as promised, but received no response after multiple emails. I ended up disputing the charges. I would not stay here again. read more

Conveniently located in downtown San Jose, this hotel is de Anza to our boarding needs while in the city. Sorry, I couldn't help it! We got in on a Sunday evening, stayed for 2 nights in San Jose to do some sightseeing, food eating, and attend a preseason Sharks hockey game. Speaking of, Hotel de Anza is about 2 blocks from the arena and a block and a half from San Pedro Square. There is a loading zone on the Santa Clara side of the hotel where you could also park for $25/night or you could park for $25 for both nights at a garage located on Market, about 1 mile from the hotel. We opted for the garage parking. It exits right on to San Pedro Square which is super nice if you're wanting to grab a bite or some drinks after a day out in town. There is a sign for valet parking but saw no valet so I'm not sure how that works. The restaurant and Cafe onsite are both closed, most likely due to COVID? I'm not sure. Although the place is an older building, they did do some remodeling inside and in the rooms. Check in was pretty easy, the lady at the front desk was very friendly and did a rundown of the amenities, parking, etc. Our room is fairly simplistic, small, with a sizeable bathroom but with a tiny shower. It did the job though. There was a mini fridge, a TV, coffee maker, coffee pouches, and complimentary Evian water bottles. The room was clean, we opted to skip room service but they do have it daily. If you don't want it or maybe still asleep when they come, simply put your do not disturb sign out and you won't be bothered. Someone had mentioned that the air-conditioning is fairly loud once it comes on and it is but it didn't really bother me. I slept through it for the most part. The bed was pretty comfortable, lots of pillows! The hallways and the general hotel has a really nice scent. Not like the smell of cleaning agents but something pleasant altogether which I truly enjoyed! I've even mentioned this to my husband twice while in one night because I was quite impressed. As we depart San Jose, I can't help but look back at the ease with which we were able to get to where we wanted to be in the city because everything is with walking distance from the hotel. If I ever find myself here again in the future, I will definitely not hesitate to book this hotel again! read more

Loyal Hyatt customer- and debated to stay in SF or SJ (as I had to be in both for business), and decided to stay in SJ. Seeing the outside of the hotel when I was driving, I was like "oh no" I can't believe I booked this place! I knew that yes- this was an old building, has been restored, etc.....but I was like what was I thinking! Turns out I was pleased with where I was staying (for one night), why? - Friendly front desk - Upgraded room (TY Hyatt status) - Had a bottle of wine waiting (in my room) with a hand-written letter (nice touch!) - Plenty of room, and yes- was happy with the decor and cleanliness, etc. - In terms of parking, I was able to park right in the street outside of the hotel (in what is the "check-in only" spots).....assuming that this was due to covid/low occupancy (and yes don't worry, they charged me a parking fee! Haha!) This was my first time in San Jose, so a new area for me.....and my sense was that the Hotel De Anza is in a good spot, relative to plenty of restaurants nearby. If you are into hotels that have been restored, and something on a smaller scale, then I think you will enjoy your stay here. read more

Centrally located in downtown San Jose, De Anza is the perfect hotel for a short jaunt to the SAP Center. If you are heading to a Sharks game or for the Duran Duran Concert this hotel provides a quality room with a short 7 min walk to the venue. You can't beat the location. Also it's nearby the San Pedro Square Market which has a variety of food selection and high end beer and cocktails. Think of a mall food court on steroids! Also, the live outdoor music stage was a lot of fun. The dude dancing solo was killing it on stage. Two striped track suit pants and CHP shades, he was rockin tai chi dance moves to every song....
