The main bar is more a youngins vibe. There is a bar room in the back that is a little more low key, kinda like a speakeasy vibe. Would recommend.

Example of how we were treated.

Service, The service was horrible, the waitress was very rude and did not come to check on my family, even though the restaurant was empty. Food, The food was also very disappointing. I got the one thing our waitress suggested, the crem brûlée French toast, and it did not live up to it's expectations. It was soggy and not cooked fully. Ambiance, It was a very pretty place with a good view, although the service and food ruined it.

the RAW part of my Crme Brulee French Toast

My family and I walked in and asked an employee if we needed to wait to be seated, and his response was, "I'm not on the clock right now." That was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He could've at least gotten someone else to help instead of acting like we were a problem. The restaurant wasn't even busy, yet we still waited almost 40 minutes for our food just for everything to come out one plate at a time, spaced out by like 10 minutes. Then the French toast came out raw in the middle, which was disgusting. This was my first time here and honestly it'll probably be my last. We came here on vacation expecting good food and service, but instead got terrible customer service, awful food, and a horrible experience.

Halloween Bar crawl. This is my 2nd time coming here. 1st time we came we had dinner and I got me the cool Flamingo drink. 2nd time was for the Halloween Bar Crawl. Got my free shot drink. Nice chill spot to drink and chill with friends as you listen to music. If you never been, then you need to be lol.

Lovely spot! Staff kind and fun, drink specials most nights and this place is cute! Indoor/outdoor dining with cabana feel and privacy curtains. Come for the specials stay for the service.

I was skeptical to try this place since it didn't have great reviews but I absolutely love it! The atmosphere and decor was lovely. The staff was super friendly and the food was great! I dined here with 9 other people during a Bachelorette party. We were required spend $400 as a whole party to make a reservation which is probably the only thing I didn't like about this place. I understand they want to make sure we spend money as a group but that was a turn off and we almost chose to go else where because of this. Despite that little limitation, I really enjoyed my experience. I ordered the French toast and it was so yummy! It was decadent in all the right ways while not being overly sweet. I also had a few cocktails which were also very smooth and refreshing. I will definitely be back if I'm in San Diego for a few days again!

Love the vibe and ambiance. Cool open space to hang out to grab drinks and brunch. The espresso martini was 10/10 for me!

Oh such a cute place especially for bachelorette weekend! Plenty of photo spots for your Instagram feed. We made reservations (just in case) for a Saturday 11:30a brunch. It was not crowded when we arrived and were seated promptly. Keep in mind, there's also a lunch menu section but they cannot serve that until 12 noon. There's an underground parking garage close by and thank goodness Flamingo Deck will validate your parking up to two hours, I think. Our party of 5 enjoyed our entrees. We ordered the following: -Crème Brûlée French Toast -Prosciutto Avocado Toast x2 -Caprese Benedict -Chicken Pesto Sandwich I love how they have some mocktail options so we got a few Lychee Spritz. Delicious, not too sweet and very refreshing. Out of everything we ordered, the proscuitto avocado toast was the favorite. It was freaking delicious! Portions were bigggggg....big enough for females to share so FYI. Our waitress provided great customer service. She was patient with us when we took forever to decide what we want to order since we kept chatting and taking photos/videos (lol yeah typical bachelorette behaviors) and she checked on us periodically to make sure everything was to our liking. Food was delivered promptly....food was fresh and pippin hot. There is a security guard by the door that checks for I.D. Thought that was random since it's daytime and we were here for just brunch. But I guess since this is a bar establishment, it's a requirement. Overall, really enjoyed my brunch here and it help set the mood for the rest of my Saturday bachelorette activities. A few of my girls and I were saying if we didn't have a flight to catch Sunday, we would've came back here and ordered the prosciutto avocado toast and the creme Brulé french toast again.

Our first stop in San Diego, this was a great way to kick off the week! Flamingo Deck was right down the road from the hotel we stayed at upon arrival and we came hangry and ready to get the party started. The space overall was super cute, very fun decor and very open to enjoy the beautiful weather. I loved my espresso martini which was not only picture perfect but very tasty. I also enjoyed my second drink which I believe was the Paloma. I ordered the Italian sandwich and it was huge, overall very good.

Great place with a fun ambiance! Decorated vibrantly and a fun atmosphere. Came for lunch and got their hummus plate with pita a fresh veggies. Friend chicken sandwich was delicious too!! Drinks were definitely the highlight and presentation and taste was outstanding. Bartender wasn't very friendly amd seemed unhappy to be there, we felt like we were inconveniencing him when ordering.

Salmon and risotto

The vibe of the restaurant is not my thing, but it wasn't bad. The food, however, was cooked to perfection. I got the salmon with risotto and asparagus. Some of the best salmon I've had! Servers were super nice.

The bbq chicken pizza is a must! It's good food with a vibe, except they never came to check on us and had to walk toward the front to ask for the check. Hopefully it was just a one time thing.

Great spot to bring a girl here as they love the aesthetic here. Flamingo deck has a chokehold on the PB girls. They have a solid happy hour and always have a DJ on deck.

As I understand it, Moray's is the outside/patio dining portion, while Oceana is the indoor fine-dining situation. I believe they pretty much have very similar menus, with Oceana having some additional high-end offerings. Came out to Moray's to visit my cousin who was in town for work. Since my cousin now has her most adorable infant, she wanted to keep it simple and dine at the hotel restaurant, which was fine by me. While I waited for them to come down from their room, I got us a patio table and ordered a delicious $10 draft. Mixed drinks were all hovering around $19 each. The server was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which I greatly appreciated. I went with the reasonably priced Steak Frites, $36, which was to stated to come with Muenster cheese and caramelized onions on top, and served with a side chimichurri. While the steak was wonderfully cooked to a solid med. rare as requested, it seemingly had very little flavor. Perhaps had it not been covered with a wealth of some DEEPLY caramelized onions and an abundance of Muenster cheese, I might have been able to taste the seasonings and/or the beef. While I love some deeply caramelized onions on a salt-laden burger, the extent to which these were caramelized left them seeming soggy and too sweet for the steak pairing. Add in the several slices of melted Muenster cheese on top, and flavourwise I could hardly tell I was eating a steak. Ultimately, the abundance of toppings overwhelmed the steak. The accompanying chimichurri was also a little strange. While I appreciate that it was diced and not blended, it was very heavy on the oil, while very light on the herbs. The frites were nicely salted and good on their own, however a decent amount became soggy from being under the steak. The burger on the other hand looked excellent. My cousin devoured his in what seemed like a split second. I could have went for the burger, however at $27 I perceived the $36 steak frites to be of a better value. Again, shout out to our server. They were on-point! Thanks Moray's!

Service was solid, and it definitely feels like a "special occasion" kind of spot. The Wagyu burger, though, was a letdown. Amazing fries, but the burger itself was surprisingly bland--even with grilled onions and cheese. For $26-$28, the "Wagyu" label felt more like marketing than magic. I've honestly had more flavorful burgers at In-N-Out (animal style), which isn't a great look for a high-end burger. On the bright side, my wife's risotto was excellent--easy 10/10. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the risotto was rich and flavorful, and even the waitress said it's one of her favorite dishes (advice I should've taken). Bottom line: great atmosphere, good service, one standout dish--but skip the burger. I wouldn't go out of my way to return unless someone else was choosing. The music might have been 200 db. The only way I could communicate with my wife was to literally scream at her, and that was only half successful. The service was terrible. The waitress finally came to our table after maybe 15 minutes. She started talking to us then stopped mid sentence, and went to another table. Didn't see whet again for another 15 minutes. Finally she came back and asked, can I help you. I responded, can we get some drinks please. Anyway we ordered our drinks. The drinks arrived after the appetizer. She said the bartender was pretty slammed, but when we looked over, they seemed to be just talking to each other. Anyway the food arrived. We had to call her back because we had no utensils. That took another ten minutes. We had muscles, but nothing to put the shells in, so I just piled them on the table which then of course started this pool of sauce around them, and the table got quite messy. All in all, having the music so loud quite frankly I think I might have hearing loss, and the service being so terrible I couldn't wait to get out of there. Our bill was $200. Perhaps I expect too much???

Parking is free for up to 30 minutes in the shared lot. After that duration, you need to pay at one of the available kiosks. Since these were the early days of The Playground, there were operational kinks that need to be smoothed out. First were the unusual business hours (e.g. 9 am to 9 pm on Thursday and Friday, only 7 pm to 9 pm on Sunday, etc). My initial attempt to visit occurred after work on a weekday. Despite the supposed closing time of 11 pm, the doors were locked at 5:30 pm. Second was the lack of prices on the menus. That is a cardinal sin in my book because if you are open to the public, then you owe it to the customers to disclose the costs. The first item for my to-go order was a snack size serving (six pieces) of Chicken Wings. I picked Bonnie's Barbeque for a sauce that featured a sweet and smokey flavor. The wings were coated with the sauce and not deep fried which made them a bit healthier. The second item was a Birria Quesadilla that came with consome on the side. A flour tortilla was filled with cheese, marinated shredded beef, cilantro, and onion. It was then sliced into smaller triangular pieces and then separated by aluminum foil in a takeout box. The consome had moderate richness while the cheesy, beefy tortilla was filling. I didn't understand the meaning of the new moniker as the interior setup had not been modified. It certainly did not have the ambiance of a playground. My first impression of this place was a three star rating with multiple areas of needed improvement including signage on the marquee. If one is driving down Mission Blvd, then there is no way to notice from the roadside that The Playground even exists.

I ordered the Birria Crunch Wrap, and halfway through eating, I discovered a long strand of hair buried in the food. Not just on top in the food. It was clearly cooked into the dish, which tells me that basic hygiene in the kitchen is completely lacking. When I pointed it out to the server, she barely apologized and offered to remake it, as if that would magically erase the thought of chewing through someone else's hair. No manager came to speak to us, no discount, no sense of urgency or genuine concern. The rest of the food wasn't memorable either--bland, lukewarm, and overpriced for the quality. But honestly, after the hair incident, I couldn't bring myself to take another bite. If you value cleanliness and basic health standards, avoid this place. There are plenty of other restaurants that know how to wear a hairnet.
