Cash only here and if you buy ice cream you have free access the bathrooms. Otherwise a dollar for the experience!! You can choose to sit in or out. The day we were here, inside was the only option, but note it's very small here. They offer coffee also which I did not have, but did indulge in the Cuban coffee flavor cream. Oh my... just loved it. We were looking for local ice cream places to try while we were in Key West. Their description of homemade ice cream and great Yelp reviews brought us to this place. And it was such a disappointment. I was excited to see tropical fruit flavors, but after I tried peach cream, and a couple others, I didn't want to have any ice cream. The peach cream was icy and not creamy, and it didn't taste like peach. My husband got chocolate, and we didn't like it either. I nice hidden gem on Duval Street, with Ice Cream and Sorbets. It is a small store with only one table inside and a few on the patio, but worth a stop. Yummy tropical homemade ice creams are found here! Just when you think you're going to pass out from walking from one end of Key West to the other you will come upon Flamingo Crossing! Do not pass this up! They offer all of the best tropical flavors as well as mainland favorites and they are all homemade! The sizing of the cups are odd - small and medium look normal but the large is in a large foam soda cup - if you get a size large cup I guess the foam helps insulate your dessert from melting away in the heat outside. This ended up being great as we sat outside on the benches before continuing on our way. We had the cinnamon and guava ice cream and loved every bite! This is a beloved local institution. Flamingo Crossing has flavors you can't find anywhere else and it's all made on premises. My favorites are the passion fruit and English custard. They other tropical fruits such as mango, papaya and a nice selection of sorbets as well. Yes, it's cash only...but they also sell pints and quarts. All for under $10. Such a cute and refreshing time we had here. With tables and chairs to seat outside where we enjoyed our ice cream. As I was walking on Duval street I was thinking that I want to have Key West's famous key lime pie and when I saw this place I tough it was perfect, pie and ice cream. This small but very cute place has regular ice creams, gelatos, and sorbets of amazing and tropical flavors; like pistachio, lime, coconut, passion fruit, and soooo much more. I ordered the key lime gelato and I got instead the coconut one, but I didn't noticed until after i had a few spoons of this one. When I figured it out I told the young girl in charge and she gave me another one with the key lime and this was fantastic. She didn't charge for the second one. Good ice cream spot. Cash only. There are some interesting flavors like soursop and mamey, which you usually don't see. You couldn't sample flavors because of COVID so I went the safe route and got some maple walnut. It was decent. Good options with both ice cream and sorbet. I had been craving passion fruit ice cream ever since I had some in Hawaii a long time ago, so I got it here. It was really creamy. We also got the lemon custard and lemon sherbet which were both equally yummy! The sherbert, in particular, was really refreshing. One of the places we went back then was Flamingo Crossing, and I had a scoop of cinnamon ice cream that I never, ever forgot. Fast forward to the present, and thank the heavens that Flamingo Crossing is still going, and still makes that cinnamon ice cream! Nowadays, I like ice cream much more, and this ice cream... I LOVE IT. I had the cinnamon several times, and it was magical. I also had the Sour Sop (really interesting flavor) and the Cuban Coffee flavor. They were great, but not like my precious..... After walking past this place several times we decided to stop in to see what all the hypes about we noticed the reviews are all over the place most of the negative reviews are in regards to service and pricing. We ordered up two small cones with Strawberry ice-cream, the cones are really kiddie size with very small scoops of really good ice cream but at $4.00 each you need to be memorable this was good but not great by any means. The woman serving up the treats was not overly friendly and just served what we ordered not offering any suggestions, a smile or a thank you she was just doing her job. Sorry, I was really unimpressed. The gentleman who served us was rather surly. He started off by telling us the store is "cash only," which is pretty clear from all the signs. Not a great way to make a customer feel welcome. I just got the feeling that he was doing me a favor by selling me his ice cream. I bought one "petite" and one "regular" -- but I didn't see much difference. Both were pretty darn small. The total price was $9 for two small scoops. Ouch! The ice cream itself was good--but nothing too special. Aside from the unusual flavors, it could be grocery store brand ice cream. Bad attitude, with small portions and big prices... Very torn on this review. We were excited to try Flamingo Crossing given the Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews and the "awards" they received for best ice cream. However, the staff is so rude, cold and disinterested that overall it brought down the experience. With that said, be sure you bring CASH if you go...CASH mandatory...no credit cards. The ice cream is very tasty and creamy and we enjoyed their cookies and cream, honey nut and guava flavors. Be careful you don't ask for too many "taste trys" or they get increasingly rude and cranky. Overall suggestion...try somewhere else...quality of ice cream not worth the attitude. read more

Terrible experience with inconsistent employee/owner! Allowed the family in front of us to remove mask but yelled at me when my nose was sticking out! Didn't offer samples and was genuinely rude! Yum! A welcome refreshment on a hot day for sure. I went in and was greeted by a really sweet lady who let me know that the most popular flavor was the orange sorbet which helped me make my decision. I got a small cup of the orange sorbet, duh!, and the coconut ice cream. The orange sorbet was so refreshing and delicious - tasted like orange juice but obviously the texture was that of a smooth sorbet. The coconut was probably one of the best coconut ice creams I've ever had. It tasted like real coconut, none of that artificial sunscreen smell, and it had bits of coconut flakes stirred throughout for added texture and flavor. Best ice cream in Key West! Some of the best we've ever had period, & we try ice cream/gelato/sorbets particularly local/homemade everywhere we travel. The shop itself is neat & clean. How everything is arranged by kinds/flavors made perfect sense. Service was friendly & patient as we made our selections: husband got a scoop each of banana & coconut ice cream on a waffle cone, while I got a scoop each of guava & passion fruit ice cream in a cup. All 4 flavors we had were natural in color (no crazy food coloring) & fresh tasting. We plan to return for me to try the more unique fruit flavors of mamey & sour sop! Of course, we'll need additional trips to try the Tahitian vanilla, rum raisin, chocolate amaretto, Kahlua....oh my! We sat at the picnic tables out front in the shade & devoured our first flavors so quickly, sorry no pics! I'll try to get some next time as we will return often by the sounds of it! read more

On our way to check out a dessert place called Better Than Sex we happened upon this little ice cream shoppe. It was hot so really there was no way we were passing by a store that had "homemade ice cream" posted on a sign in the front. The place is quite tiny inside with the counter, a small back area with a couple of seats and enough room for customers to stand. Small and unassuming like I imagine many Mom and Pop stores are. One feature of note is a set of illustrations on the wall of the various fruits -- including papaya, guanabana and mamey -- they use in many of their offerings accompanied by descriptions of the flavor notes of those fruits. And the flavors... there are quite a number of them available to try including banana, strawberries and cream, cookies and cream, French chocolate, Tahitian vanilla, and of course the aforementioned fruits. There were a small handful of alcohol-based flavors as well such as Kahlua (which I didn't sample so I won't be able to speak to). The prices are quite reasonable considering the ice cream is made fresh on the premises and, at least for the fruit-based offerings, uses actual fruit with no artificial flavorings mixed in. At the time of our visit, which was roughly 30 minutes ago, a regular size with up to 2 flavors cost $4.75 including tax. I'd consider that a steal! So the flavors we tried... My father went for the combination of coconut and mango, and it was a stellar pairing... and I'm not a mango person. My sister asked for the strawberries and cream on the bottom and had the key lime piled on top of it. The strawberries and cream flavor was exquisite. The key lime is a little strong, but mainly because it tastes almost exactly like a key lime with all the sourness you'd expect from that. Authentic, but you have to really like lime. I chose, upon recommendation of the young man behind the counter, the English cream and banana duo since he said it tasted like a banana cream pie, which it did. The banana flavor was especially good: I've found that it can be quite tough to get an ice cream that actually tastes like banana and still tastes good as an ice cream, and this place succeeds. The three orders set me back less than $15, and they were both delicious treats and a welcome reprieve from the heat (which we later learned from the Best Western clerk was "one of the cooler ones of the last week" at a mere 95! I unfortunately don't have any photos at the moment since I was too busy consuming the creamy, cold concoction I had ordered, but I will add some later this evening when I bring my wife, sons and mother -- who were all busy lounging in the pool -- to experience Flamingo Crossing! read more

Went here tonight because it was close to where we were staying... so glad I did! The women behind the counter was very nice and friendly. More importantly the ice cream was excellent and home made. I had the strawberries and cream, my husband had the pineapple and the kids had cookies and cream. I made sure to "taste test" the kids and it was good and you could really taste the cookies pieces. This will be a place I return to when we are back in town next time. We were all happy with our late night snack! Not that it's a downside, but you should know, they only take cash.
