Best beach I've ever swim at! Clear blue water that is a refreshing as a beach can be!

Every 5* review is right. This beach is awesome. I lived and worked in the Caribbean for years. Let me tell you, few beaches are of this caliber. The main competitors are St. John and some of the Vieques beaches. Still, this really has it all: 1) Crystal clear water; 2) Relatively calm tides; 3) soft, white sand. Not only that, where else could you see a rusted out tank just sitting in the ocean!? Pretty epic and unique. Facilities here were pretty good too. Showers, restrooms, bar/food, snorkel rentals, etc. Does it deserve to be on the best beaches list? Absolutely. Is it the best? Probably not. But, it's very good. Main downside is getting there. I did a Vieques Air Link flight from Ceiba (15 minutes on a 6 person plane) and it wasn't too difficult. But, it is a little more effort than just mainland Puerto Rico.

It was beautiful. But watch your stuff. There was a guy who was selling the rent umbrellas watching my my stuff while I went to wash off. Had a weird feeling about him. Just be mindful. But it was the most beautiful beach ever.

Ranked as one of the top beaches in the world, Flamenco is a postcard-perfect stretch of white sand and turquoise waters. First thing first - reaching there is a pain - means a) Rent a car- 50 KM- 60-70 Mins ride b) Reach Ceiba -would suggest booking ferry tickets in advance (gets sold out quickly, especially on Weekends) 50 Minutes Ferry ride to Culebra Island c) $5 shuttle to Flamenco beach, as its a popular beach, you will get a shared taxi outside the terminal It takes app 4-5 hrs and then you will reach there but trust me, that beach is worth it. The moment we saw this, we were like - "wowwwwwww" The horseshoe-shaped silver beach is indeed picture-postcard pretty, but it can get crowded on the weekends. We went there on Tuesday so there was not much rush. It does have amenities though: the only beach on Culebra that does. Beach is practically wave-less, which makes it ideal for snorkeling, swimming, unwinding, playing in the sand, or simply beach-bumming. If you were to spend the entire day at Flamenco, you'll observe a spectacular show of color changes on the water, ranging from clear like glass, soft baby blue to turquoise to deep emerald green. We hit it at 2 PM, with amazing colors. also what amazed me- it's sand. The sand of Flamenco is light, white, soft, very fine, unlike Escambron-Condado beach. perfectly landscaped shore with green rolling hills as the backdrop, lush tropical plants providing shade to visitors While you're there, don't miss your chance to bump into Flamenco's most iconic attraction, The Tank, which is a reminder of the US Navy's occupancy of Culebra. Food & Drink: there are 2 food trucks near to beach offering local food and drinks. How to reach there by Car- If you are planning to Visit Playa Flamenco and come back to San Juan then I would suggest taking route 3while going and Route 187 while coming back. a couple of reasons for this- 1) Take Route-3. You wanna save money on toll skipping Route-66 (no sense paying rental company for its transponder and $10/day) 2) while coming back to San Juan, take Route 3 & 187. Its Scenic route 3) On Route-187 - Pinones area which is famous for its street/roadside small/decent food joint - you don't wanna miss if you are a foodie or 20-minute flight

Wow. As an avid travel geek, I have seen my fair share of beaches in my life. None, however, compare to the sheer beauty that is Flamenco Beach!! The intensely blue water, pristine sand, and sheer remoteness of this beach all make for one of the most calming and relaxing places to take in the sights of sand and sea on this planet! (It's no wonder it's rated so highly!) We had arrived on the first ferry over, so were the first and only people on the beach on a beautiful, sunny morning. It also helped that we took the ferry over on a weekday to avoid weekend crowds. The sand is fine and pristine as far as the eye can see. I'm used to San Francisco's Ocean Beach which is covered with rocks, twigs, and the occasional Dorito's bag, so the seemingly untouched shoreline was such a pleasant surprise. The water is shallow enough for wading for many, many feet out, making it the perfect place to splash around and sunbathe. Later in the day I saw some people snorkeling, so apparently there are cool places to see fish as well. I had such a great time floating belly-up on the AMF-tinted water, with a very gentle breeze keeping me cool while the sun beamed down. Lastly, there are a few kiosks selling bites and drinks (just in case you need even -more- piña coladas in your system while visiting.) If you're able to find shade or bring a small umbrella, it's quite nice to have a picnic beachside after a few hours of swim. There's also one picnic table on the beach if you walk towards the tanks which we set our stuff up on, though you have to be there early to snag it. I can't help but gush about this place and now understand why there are so many damn poems and songs about the sea. You'll definitely be inspired if you come here ahead of the crowds during the right weather. If I could give this place 10 stars on Yelp I would! Enjoy!!

We had an awesome time at this beach. The setting, and and water are beautiful and by far the best of all beaches in Culebra. Kiosks are lacking when it comes to cocktails. Food is not too bad. Chairs and umbrellas $20 each, which after after dishing out over $100 (plus $100 deposit) for a golf cart for the day will make a dent in your pocket. So try to bring your chairs or at least a cooler with your fav libations)

Incredibly beautiful beach I went with my family, water's a nice cool temperature and there wasn't a cloud in sight! Some friendly fish will also swim around you, and you'll even be able to see them above water without goggles. Like any beach there's of course some mosquitos, bugs, and harsh sun so make sure to bring plenty of repellent and sunblock. Absolutely worth the trip to Culebra if you have the chance!

Flamenco Beach can be divided into two. There is the western part, which is the general public area. Here you will find several kiosks serving food and drinks, public showers and bathrooms, picnic tables, camping grounds, and the famous tanks, left behind when the US Navy ceased using the area as a practice bombing range. They make for great photo ops. This part of the beach is generally more crowded and livelier than the eastern part. Also, from the parking lot you can take a road that will lead you to Carlos Rosario Beach for some great snorkeling. The eastern part of the beach is quieter. It is mainly used by guests staying at Culebra Beach Villas and Villa Flamenco Beach. Anyone can come to this side, but the parking is for guests only and unless you are a guest you can't cross the resorts to get to the beach. You have to go around the properties. Also, taxis generally don't drop people off here, only the public area. Recently, boats and catamarans offering day trips from Fajardo anchor on the eastern or middle part of the beach. O. The far east end of the beach there is decent snorkeling. I usually hang out on this side because I usually stay at Culebra Beach Villas when I come to Culebra. I love Flamenco Beach. I have been coming here since I was a kid. Great memories. It is the nicest beach on the mainland. Tortuga Beach on Culebrita may rival it for nicest in all of Culebra. The sand at Flamenco is nice and soft. There is plenty of sand so you can play beach soccer, football, and even volleyball (if you bring your own net). The water is warm and calm. When there is strong wind you may even get to catch some decent waves on a bodyboard. Great beach for skimboarding too. Unfortunately, it has not been immune to climate change. Lots of seaweed has washes up to shore and ruins it beauty and creates murky waters. Still, it remains a great beach to spend the day. The public area is currently going through renovations. The design looks nice. As such, all but two kiosks are closed. The ones that still operate are Kiosko de Mami and Kiosko #6. There is also an ice cream cart. Also, I believe the campgrounds are closed. Once it is allowed again, I recommend camping overnight. It is fun.

There is a reason this is a world top 20 beach. The sand is soft and the water is crystal clear. Because it is not easy to get to (have to take a ferry) the beach is not very crowded. This is definitely worth the trip.

A wonderful beach with clear water and white clean sand with developed infrastructure, here you can buy food, drinks, ice cream. The entrance to the beach costs $2 per person, $5 per car

Absolutely beautiful! Great way to spend the day! Bring everything with you for a beach day or buy/rent it there. Everything you need food, drink, umbrella or chair rentals it's got it all.

After hurricane Ernesto next day . So peaceful

Nice water . Parking and entrance is not free. They have some restaurants, rentals (beach items), restrooms, showers. Love it

Flamenco beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Beautiful white sand and turquoise warm water. There are bathrooms, food vendors, showers, umbrella rentals and lots of sun. I would say that there are 2 sections to this beach. There's the area that has coral and this makes the waves smaller. This area is perfect for families with small kids, snorkel, and to chill. To right there is section 2 where the waves can get very big. It's fun if you have a bodyboard or like to play in big waves. Do not turn your back on the ocean. Every now and then a big wave comes and puts you in a spin cycle. Love this beach.

I found a beach that's EVEN BETTER: Playa de CoreyG (I proclaimed it with this name since it appears to be a nameless beach) What do you think of when thinking of the lovely Flamenco Beach? o White soft sand o Crystal clear waters o Warm comforting water o Peace These are all great and good, BUT y'know what? Playa de CoreyG is even BETTER---because it has all of this x10! This beach is TOPS in my book because of its seclusion. The beach is just off the small island of Culebra on the even smaller island Cayo Luis Pena. The only way to get to this beach is by taking a boat (I kayaked) from Culebra, and going to the other side of the island (it's less than a mile away.) On the other side of Luis Pena, you will round the corner and find one small sandy nameless cove. Go past this one and go to the next cove. This beach is a bit bigger. Ride a few waves in and you will be at the world's BEST beach: Playa de CoreyG. The beach isn't very wide, but there's more than enough room to lay down your towel and soak some rays, read a book, or take a nap (don't forget sunscreen!). I spent a few hours here. While here, I was followed by another couple. They dropped off their kayak and did some snorkeling. The water is magnificent--super clear & the sand is nice and soft with very little rocks to worry about. There are views of even smaller islands off to the north/west. This is what I imagine Flamenco Beach was like before it became discovered, touted, & touristy. I should have stayed longer, but I wanted to circumnavigate around Luis Pena to get back (BIG MISTAKE). First off, paddling around the rest of the island is long! Secondly, when you get on the other side of the island you run into some rough seas (wind & waves will pound you.) Two & a half hours later and 10 blisters on my hand, I made it back to Culebra. In hindsight, I should have just stayed on my beach longer and went back the short route. It's OK. I will be back. My beach beckons.

On the second day, we returned to our campsite from the beach to find it completely stripped. There were marks on the ground from our tent having been dragged a very long distance. We went to the office and no one was there. The doors were locked and our tent was visible through the glass. The office had all of our contact information. The woman who checked us in (and as we found out later, stripped our campsite) did not speak English. She had all of our contact information on the form (which was in Spanish), including our phone numbers and email addresses. Clearly she did not understand what was going on and instead of contacting us or even just approaching us at the campgrouns, she chose to wait until we were at the beach to take all of our belongings and leave for the day. We were left with no food, water, tent, clothes, medixation, etc. that we needed. We waited for hours for her to come back, but she never did. There is no contact information for their office listed on the signs. We had to pay for transportation back to the town and find a hotel late at night. The next day, another employee let us take our belongings back and apologied for the other staff's lack of understanding/communication. This is when we noticed they had completely destroyed our backpacking tent (entire inside ripped out and several supporting poles broken in half) and that we were missing clothes and had other items damaged beyond repair. All of this aside, there is no more drinkable water here. Only one shower nozzle works (always a VERY long line). And the main bathrooms were only open on two days for a couple hours. They really let this place go downhill which is very disappointing, as my family always enjoyed it in the past. We recommend the hostel, which is the same cost as camping $30 AND comes with showers, working restrooms, clean sleeping areas, and staff that wont harrass you and treat you like total dirt. Save yourself the stress and enjoy your vacation.

It has two main beaches, Tortuga Beach and Playa del Sur (South Beach). Tortuga Beach is by far the more popular beach. Many consider it to be Puerto Rico's best beach. I love Flamenco Beach, but I won't argue with Tortuga's beauty. It also has a natural pool. Playa del Sur is great in its own right. It is smaller and has less beach, but I find it has better snorkeling. It is also more secluded and quieter. Tortuga Beach's biggest problem is it is so popular it can get too crowded. Unless, you have no other option, I would say suggest avoiding this beach on the weekends and holidays. It becomes a marina, so many boats. That also means somebody is more than likely to fill the air with music blasting from their stereos. Their inner dj fills them with the need to make sure everybody on the beach knows what they are jamming. If you are interested in sampling both beaches, there is a trail that crosses the middle of the island d and connects both. I believe it is takes 15-20 min. Another hike I strongly recommend is the hike to see the ruins of the old lighthouse. It takes about 15-20 min and is an easy hike. Best to wear shoes or sandals that aren't flip flops. But if flip flops are all you have then it's fine. My wife hiked it in flip flops. You will notice a dried up lake in the middle of the island. The view from the top is spectacular. There is the lighthouse itself, but the real prize is the view. You can see the whole island and beyond. Breathtaking. There is Cayo Norte, a smaller island, to the north, and some other tiny island's. To the west is Culebra, maybe even Vieques on a clear day. South is the open sea, and to the east, on a clear day, you can see St. Thomas. Excellent photo and selfie ops. As you cross the middle of the island, on either hike, you might hear or see goats or deer. Culebrita is a must visit of you are staying a couple of days in Culebra. The only way to get there is by boat. If you don't own one or have friend that does, you can always male a reservation with a water taxi service or charter an excursion. There are a couple that offer rides to Culebrita, and other places such as Cayo Luis Peña (great for snorkeling). H20 Water Taxi, Cato Norte Water Taxi, and blue Water Excursions are some examples. The each have a Facebook page with more info, as well a a Yelp page. You can always ask local businesses about other services and/or their recommendations.
