Came in on 7-19 at 7:30 pm. It must have been over 100 degrees in there. To make matters worse, it reeked of urine. They had the bathroom open and apparently were cleaning it. Had to sit outside, because there was no way I was dining inside. Asked for a water cup and the water tasted like it came from the toilet. Disgusting in every possible way. Does management bother to read the reviews or address any concerns? Stop giving generic responses and do something proactive or you will continue to lose customers. read more

I went to try their new chicken avocado salad. I had a buy one get one free coupon in the app. It would not work for one reason or another. They physically held my phone and saw that it was the app not working, and that my rewards member coupon was valid. They would not honor the online coupon. They even had the owner on the phone, and she said that she would not honor the coupon and that she only honors physical coupons. They should probably list this as a policy. TERRIBLE!! Just terrible! Order a Korean Chicken bowl that they goofed up, so my chicken was picked out of my bowl and squirted with some sauce. Okay whatever, but when I ordered no rice extra vegetables, I got a bowl of barely cooked carrots too numerous to count and tons of hard cabbage. No broccoli... is broccoli still an ingredient in this lineup? I guess I haven't been to Flame Broiler in awhile, cause now the sauce is no longer out on the counter, but rather it is in prefilled sauces cups behind the counter. 3 per bowl and 4 per plate. My brother and I came here to use a BOGO coupon we received for this location. We both tried the Regular NAE Korean Spicy Chicken Bowl with white rice. It was on the pricier side, even though one of the bowls is free with the coupon. The chicken had a good level of spice, but for the price it didn't seem worth it. My brother and I finished our bowls and said it wasn't bad, but we wouldn't come here again. The employee who helped us do takeout was nice though. The workers are so much kinder than at any other chain/franchise, and better at creating a welcoming and appetizing environment than any other Flame Broiler location. I complained about this location before but since we went into lockdown in 2020, my views have changed. The inside is still too hot, but I never eat there anymore, only to go. The lady behind the counter (and all the staff really) are extremely nice. She knows me now (as this place is close and super convenient for me). When she sees me she says "chicken bowl, no rice, extra veggies" and we both laugh. The food is always freshly cooked. I love that since Covid they have the sauces pre-packaged instead of pumping your own magic sauce. Last time I was there, I saw a worker from the Panda Express next door ordering food... that says something. Lol. Warning, this is the only delicious flame broiler I've been to. I went to the one off Alicia and the freeway and the food and service were both sub-par. Customer service definitely plays a huge roll into any restaurant or fast food place. The ambience wasn't very welcoming. Young gentleman helped me out in the front but was sighing every time I ordered (two separate bowls) when it came to asking for sauce he was very rude and the friendliness was just not there. I usually don't leave bad reviews, because these are people's businesses, and I never want to bring negative attention to anyone. But in this case, I was really disappointed all around. First of all, the quality of the food was not good. Don't get me wrong, I will pretty much eat anything without complaint. And I completely understand that Flame Broiler is a fast food restaurant, but I've been to other Flame Broilers before, and this place pales in comparison to the other places. Second of all, the amount of protein they give you is laughable. Like honestly, I was able to fit all of the protein in 2 or 3 spoons. Third, when one of the cooks was cooking my chicken, a lady went over, looked at the grill and took off some of the protein(!). That was unexpected... especially since they give so little protein to begin with. Finally, I was really confused about the price. The first time I went in there, I ordered a regular chicken bowl. Received it, ate it, whatever. I was not happy, but decided to give this place another chance because it's so close to my house. So the next day, I ordered the same regular chicken bowl and it was $0.30 more expensive? I usually don't care about things like that, but compounded with everything else mentioned above, yeah I just thought I had to point it out here. This place is hidden, I can't believe I never knew it was here and have been coming to this shopping center for many years. The food is ok but not great. The teriyaki sauce is very good which gives a good flavor to the food but nothing special beyond that. The chicken was very dry. The meat was better than the chicken plates. If I could give this Flame Broiler a 0 star, I would not even deserve the 1-star minimum. My mother went in and ordered my daughter a mini tofu bowl. When placing the order, she was told they were out of tofu. However, the cooks told the cashier they had some. Maybe talk about inventory when you arrive for work that day?! After placing her order, the cashier put the wrong rice and vegetables in our dish, my mother told her, and she had to start over. After getting the vegetables correct, she was given 3 pieces of broccoli and 3 pieces of carrots. She went on to request additional broccoli because of the substitution of no cabbage. The cashier didn't acknowledge her and began assisting a customer who walked in after my mother had placed her order. After waiting, my mom asked again, and the cashier argued with her and said she put the exact amount of broccoli in its correct spot. My mom had to say, but I am not getting cabbage, so I'd like additional broccoli; the cashier again ignored her. My mom went to ask the cook for more broccoli, and he ignored her. In the end, she got additional broccoli but wasn't acknowledge by the clearly rude staff. DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS LOCATION! read more

This Flame Broiler is the worst one ever!!! They barely give you any chicken! Complete rip off!!! I tried them on two separate occasions and had the same experience both times. I asked the guy for more chicken, especially since I paid almost $10 for a regular bowl with all white meat and the guy said no! He pointed to the menu and said it only comes with 5oz of meat... which trust me I didn't get 5oz of meat. The place was filthy!!! I now drive to the Aliso Viejo location. Tasty tasty food. However, the location is way too small with very limited seating. I would just plan on getting your food to go here. You're better off eating it somewhere else. Another downside is that they certainly aren't in a rush to get you your order. Even when it's not crowded be prepared to wait at least 5 minutes for your order to come out. I always seem to make the mistake of coming here when I'm already hungry. By the time my order comes out, I always inhale it in minimal bites. But the staff is always extremely friendly. That almost makes up for everything else. At least I know I won't be leaving angry at anyone. read more

I'm not sure how this location is even open considering how dirty it is. It looks like the grill hasn't been cleaned EVER, and the spatulas they were using were covered in grease and grime from previous orders. I don't even think I can eat this food after seeing how it was prepared. Also they created a new limitation of only 2 magic sauces per bowl, which is not even close to enough for a large. I have been a fan of Flame Broiler before and after COVID. I love their magic sauce; however, yesterday I found it that they are limiting their sauce consumption to 2 tiny containers of magic sauce and 1 of hot sauce, if you want more than that they charge you an extra .30 cents per sauce of your choice. I don't understand the reasoning behind the new charges, before COVID access to the sauce was unlimited. I understand restaurants are also struggling but so is the community in general, let's have sympathy for others too. We all are in this together. I am an avid patron of flame broiler franchise. This is my guilt-free goto food when I get sick of light meals in my diet regimen. I think one of the biggest problems with this franchise is the the quality variance across its stores are way too great. I've been to maybe 15 different locations in the past 10 years or so and the difference between the best and the worst locations are huge to a point that they don't even seem to be the same franchise. This location straight up sucks. It leads me to believe that the owner had no prior restaurant experience before starting this one. Inner decor (strange table placements), food quality (rubbery, dry and hard meat), service (service is quite good actually, but they are sort of awkward like they are new to customer service or something) are all lackluster. This location does more damage to the brand than good. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I wanted to really like this Flame Broiler, a great little location with a local mom and pop feel, but they just didn't live up to what they had posted on the wall: a better choice. The cashier kindly greeted me as I walked in, but there was no way they could have missed me because once you're two steps in the door you're also right at the front of the counter... I ordered a Angus beef bowl with no onions and was immediately rang up. They didn't offer a drink, or any mention of white or brown rice, or if I wanted it for dine-in or take out. Not really a big deal, but it's those little steps that set the experience off right and it reduces mistakes once the order is completed. Oh well. I sat down in the corner as they prepared my Angus bowl and noticed that the TV was airing CNN (muted with crawls reporting on the increase of Ebola outbreaks) and that the store radio was also blaring KOST... Now, I like mainstream AC as much as the next customer, but it really needed to be turned down, like way down, or off; along with a change of the TV channel to perhaps Family Feud or something other than pictures of African Ebola victims. Just a personal preference. About five minutes passed and the cashier acknowledged that my order was ready. She began to bag the container when I stated that I would be eating in the dining room. Surprised, she just handed it to me with no lid, no utensils, and no napkins or sauces to be had. Just a blank stare and a warped tray... I wandered around until I found myself halfway down a narrow hall next to the restrooms where the condiment station was located. The station was an utter sticky mess which looked as though it hadn't been wiped down since before the lunch shift. Uh. I found napkins and a plastic fork, and stocked up on some 'Magic Sauce', then made my way back to the corner to feast on my Angus beef bowl... The bowl was packed tight with white rice and there was a ridiculously skimpy amount of meat on top. The first bite was good, but every other bite after that was marinated gristle. Chew, chew, chew... It was a good thing I had three little cups of 'Magic Sauce' handy because this bowl was a failed illusion. Bottom line, they could have done way better. A complete lack of effort, other than saying hello when I entered and goodbye as I left, that could have turned this two star review into a four... Disappointing to say the least. read more
