Flame Broiler is a quick stop restaurant offering a clean interior and tasty, nutritious choices in San Marco. The staff was welcoming, courteous and eager to serve us upon arrival. I'm not typically a fan of tofu but I wanted to try something new. The vegetables were fresh, cooked well and flavorful as was the tofu. The sauces were great and some of them really packed a punch with the spice. Plenty of parking here which can be a challenge in San Marco, and I found our meal to be reasonably priced as well. I recommend you give them a try if you're looking for fast food that can be healthy at the same time. read more

My husband got a chicken stirfry dish and i tried a small bite of his leftovers and it was honestly super bland. You can taste the flame boiled part of the chicken but otherwise it had no other flavor. The veggie in the stirfry seemed like soggy frozen veggies. Unfortunately despite my ordering white meat and paying a premium, I was given dark meat (greasy chicken thighs) And while the spicy sauce was good, the beef was very dry and tasted as if it had been sitting for way too long. I like the sauce selection, but I also didn't realize that the kimchi I was offered was a nearly $4 upcharge (and was cold & slimy, again it had been sitting around way too long). And the staff was helpful with guiding through my first experience of dining with them. The establishment was clean but, I'm assuming they had a bit of a lunch rush as the napkin container was completely empty which also proved to me that their food must be delicious. Here's an example of a business that cares. Two weeks ago, I wrote a review based off my experience at Flame Broiler. My experience wasn't all too memorable, compared to other locations I've visited in the past. A day or two later, the franchise owner sent me a heartfelt message on Yelp. Like many businesses in San Marco, they were deeply affected by Hurricane Irma. It really put things in perspective as a consumer. Yes, my experience was true, but many of the things I mentioned, like no A/C and boxes sprawled out on the tables, clearly aren't an indicator of their normal day-to-day operations. I can't imagine the road to recovery for a small business owner. The customer always comes first in business, and it's apparent that Jackie practices this philosophy. I wish Flame Broiler the best of luck on getting back to up to speed, and I will happily come back for dinner in the future! read more

Fast food never looked so yummy. Love grabbing a work lunch from here since it's something a bit different from the usual sandwiches and soups. This is an office favorite actually. If anyone ever says "flame broiler?" there are never any complaints which is so rare! This is an order at the counter and have your bowl created in front of you. Think of subway for korean take out. I love getting a veggie base because then I'm not worried about rice sticking in my teeth all day. Plus it's an easy way to trick myself into eating healthier. They have the protein options of beef, chicken, and tofu. I'm still not brave enough to try the tofu because I don't want to sacrifice my tasty beef! Everything is always seasoned to perfection and cooked really well whether it's the protein, the veggies, or the rice. I would highly recommend this fast food joint. All things considered, the San Marco location is walking distance from my job. From the hours of 2p to 5p, you're able to get a mini chicken bowl and drink for under $5. Yeah, I'll take two of those please, one for now and one for an hour from now. If you're thinking of stopping by, there's parking in the back but there's also street parking as well, typically where I go. San Marco is a busy street, be mindful if you're thinking of parking along the front. When you walk in, you'll smell the freshly grilled chicken, see the steam from the veggies and by this point, you're ready to order. Some of your options range from brown or white rice, your veg choices are carrots, broccoli and cabbage. For your protein, there's tofu, chicken and beef stir fry style of meat. In the event you're going for chicken, you can add white meat for an upcharge, although, I'd stick with the dark meat, it's more flavorful. On top, have them add the green onions as an incentive, splurge a little. Before you leave, be sure to walk over to the sauce station and grab their magic sauce and some of their hot sauce. If you're feeling really frisky, get some of the XXX hot sauce. I'm a fan of mixing the magic sauce and XXX, it's a spice take on teriyaki. If you're one that enjoys something simple and a healthier option to Chinese take-out, give Flame Broilers a try. If you're disappointed, hey, well, don't blame me, blame your taste buds. They serve teriyaki rice bowls. They come with grilled chicken, steak, or tofu, served with either white/brown rice and mixed veggies. This joint is perfect if you're trying to loose weight but craving for a big bite. You can ask for just mixed veggies only without rice. Use the magic sauce for that extra teriyaki flavor and the a small amount of the hot sauce(yes, they're very hot). Now this ain't your traditional Korean cuisine so don't expect any lettuce wraps and kimchi. Though I hope they had kimchi at least. Lol One thing that stood out with my experience here is the manager is doing paper work and there's only one person in front of us in the line but she quickly dropped what she was doing to assist and make sure we got everything we needed. This is somewhat of a satellite location so street parking for the most part. Thankful it's near my office for somewhere to pick up a decent meal that's not fast food. It's good - not spectacular. Bowls are a choice of brown or white rice topped with veggies - cabbage, blanched carrots, and broccoli. Topped with a choice of marinated protein - chicken, beef, or tofu - and finished with green onions. On this particular visit, I witnessed the order before mine - assumed it was a call in order - lightly spill on top of the counter between the front area and kitchen. Maybe a couple pieces of chicken and some veggies. The employee - wearing gloves - scraped the food off the counter back into the to go bowl. It definitely appeared that this was going to be served vs. tossed. The employees in the kitchen made eye contact with me and saw that I noticed the occurrence. It felt as if the person doing this - the person putting my order together may have been management as no one dared say anything. I took away a star for this incident. Idk if I'd come back based on that - who knows what else is happening in that kitchen if what I witnessed was deemed acceptable. read more

Fast healthy meals for a good price. However I was disappointed in their staff today when I went in to pick up dinner. The door has a sign posted that CLEARLY states masks are required inside. I had mine on (over mouth & nose). Walked in and the 2 staff visible had their masks on over the mouth only. Behind me, another customer walked in with NO face covering at all. The staff didn't say anything and carried on business as usual. I was sick with covid for 7 weeks. I do not want it again. My regular lunch crowd and I decided to try this new place in San Marco. There is not much to The Flame Broiler. You can either get a bowl or white rice or brown rice with Korean beef, or chicken or tofu or veggies. You can also order half and half on the meats. Since I recently gone vegetarian with the exception of seafood, I had brown rice with vegetables (broccoli, carrots and green onion). My coworkers all enjoyed their meat bowls and with the addition of their "magic sauce" my bowl was pretty good and rather filling. I'm not sure I would come back, since there is not much to choose from, but one never knows. read more

I hear what the other viewers are saying about the food being "bland." However, that is what honest healthy food tastes like, and that is what they claim to offer. We see claims for all sorts of benefits on packaged foods, even when the support for those claims are slim, so we are not used to plain food. The meal I had was fresh, hot and delicious. The chicken I ordered had a little teriyaki or something flavor, and the rice was wonderful, if plain. Good healthy fresh food for a decent price. We all should probably be eating like this 80% of the time if we were smart. read more
