I had a very disappointing experience at Flagstaff Nail Salon and will not be returning. I called ahead to schedule an appointment for myself and my two kids. When I made the appointment, I specifically told Mary that I wanted a gel manicure and pedicure done at the same time so I could finish around the same time as my kids, who were getting basic manicures and pedicures. Mary confirmed this over the phone and told us to come in at 11:45 a.m. We arrived early at 11:35 a.m. and I reminded Mary that my appointment was supposed to include my manicure and pedicure at the same time. She immediately told me they couldn't do that but assured me not to worry because I would still finish at the same time as my kids. She seemed to be in a bad mood, so I didn't argue. The salon was packed, with many people already waiting. Even though we had an appointment, we waited over 35 minutes before anyone helped us. Around noon, they finally started my pedicure, and shortly afterward my kids' services began. After my pedicure, Mary took me to her station for my gel manicure. She was on her phone while removing my old gel polish and was extremely rough. I tried to tolerate the pain, but after about seven nails, it became unbearable. I politely asked if she could be a little gentler. Instead of responding professionally, she looked at me and said, "Go sit at station 7 so someone else can do your nails." I moved to station 7 and then had to wait another 35 minutes before someone finally came to finish my manicure. By that point, my kids had already been waiting for me for nearly an hour. Unfortunately, the manicure itself was rushed and poorly done. To make matters worse, when I went to pay, Mary handled the transaction rudely, shoved the receipt toward me without saying a word, and walked away. Appointments should mean something. If the salon couldn't accommodate what was promised over the phone, they should have been honest from the beginning instead of having us wait and completely disrupting our afternoon. Good customer service includes clear communication, professionalism, and treating customers with respect. Sadly, this experience had none of those qualities. I will never return, and I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience. read more

I went in yesterday because I was having a bad day and wanted to have a pick me up by getting my nails done. This experience made my day much worse. Jennifer did my nails and said I should do dip I agreed because why not try something new. After a few coats of powder I could see what color it was. I was unhappy with the color and told her so, she said she would not redo and that I needed to tell her sooner. But I've never had this service done and you really can't see the color till the end. I've lived here for 6 months now and I'm a flagstaff full time resident that comes to the shop every two weeks. To me why would you treat a regular customer poorly? Ive recommended this establishment to others but I will not longer do that. In the future when people come consistently value their business. I had nails done here several weeks ago and found the male technician to be unfriendly and basically acted as though I was a piece of furniture. Also was rough with my hands and feet. To top it off, the polish with manicure he gave me peeled off in one day. This time when I called I asked to have a female technician so as to avoid that same guy. When I came in, a male greeted me and I reiterated that I wanted a female. Mary did my pedicure. She asked me why I asked for a female. When I said because the male I had previously was rude, she wanted details. Now, mind you, the person whose behavior she was asking me to describe was within earshot, so after just not responding a time or two, when she kept pressing, I said I didn't want to talk about it. She then suggested that I mistook the language barrier for rudeness. (There is so much wrong with this picture!) I said no, that wasn't the issue. What I didn't say was that I had been to my share of nail salons over the years and knew the difference between the two. Shortly thereafter a woman came in without an appmt looking to get her nails done and the male at the front desk treated her in such a way that she said never mind and told him he was, wait for it,.... rude. Mary was pretty picky about the position of my chair and how I held my feet and pretty rough at times as she worked on my feet. I found myself wondering if I was paying a price for criticizing one of the other technicians. I've gone here on and off the past few years, but I think I'm done with this place. I LOVE Mary!!!! This nail salon has been amazing for the past few years I've been coming here. Its always clean & organized. Some days I don't have an appointment and they're able to get me taken care of without a long wait. They also take care of my daughter too. We feel like family when we come here, because we always get to talking about family and life. I really love how they all make us feel! They have some great nail techs to do designs too, which is very impressive! When we are getting nails done, it doesn't take too long, and they always ask us if we like them when we are done. If anything needs fixing, they are happy to do it before we leave the salon-not after you've left. They ask you clearly if you like them, and if you're happy before you pay. This way if there's an issue it can be resolved. What is upsetting is the negative reviews I read, because they're just simply not true. People have left the salon after saying they loved their nails, then have issues and complaining being disrespectful. Every person who works here has an amazing personality, they're so friendly, and they want to make you happy. What ends up happening is people are rude screaming and demanding money back which is not acceptable for any business. They do have the right to then refuse service if you aren't respectful in how you handle things. If you should have any issues all you have to do is be kind, and ask them to help fix it and they will. Again, I LOVE Flagstaff Nails! I also want to say they all have their licenses to do nails and pedicures which are hung up in the walls. I can also say they treat everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of what skin color you are. I've seen this with my own eyes. So this salon is the best in town, and that's my opinion after bad experience everywhere else. I recommend coming here for your needs. This is my honest review after years of service here. Went to get our pedicures done with some friends. The place is very cute and the gentleman who did my pedicure did a good job, the quality was nice and the nails were cute. A few things I didn't enjoy was how quickly he rushed through it. I finished 20 minutes before my friends and was the last one seated and it felt very rushed. He also didn't wear gloves and I watched him do the next person and realized he didn't wash his hands or the nail filing and clipper tools he used. My second visit to Flagstaff Nails Salon was one I felt needed to happen because my first visit was not as good as it should have been. I came home from the first time, with raw cuticles from rough and fast filing, too thick gel nails, and uneven lengths on the nails. Ok. Calvin was having a bad day. One more time with a different nail tech. Yesterday was less successful than the first time. I had a different gentleman (John) working on the nails - he started off gently and went to high-speed in short order. 2 areas on my fingers began bleeding, which brought over "Mary" who apologized. The third blood event was more serious. The Tech used the large nail clippers, and CLIPPED MY FINGER! Yup, blood galore. This time "Mary" arrived and used a number of powders and liquids to stop the bleeding, but nothing stopped the hurt. "Mary" said 'SORRY' many times. Several customers were concerned now! I was in tears, but agreed to let the appointment finish. The Tech polished what was left of my nails - gently - and I got ready to leave. Much to my surprise - I was charged the whole price. Because there was no one to complain to because no one appears to speak fluid English - I paid and left. No, I will not make a third visit! But, I felt it necessary to share two unsuccessful visits - both of which ended with "Mary" saying, "Sorry - we love you". Amazing! read more
