Not a fan. I spent way too much money there getting two pairs of shoes fixed for sub par results. I'd asked to have both pair polished and picked them up just as dirty and scuffed as before. Not only that, after convincing me one pair needed the soles replaced, after a few wears, I've noticed it peeling away. Really disappointing. After reading about Fix Your Kicks in DNAInfo, I finally decided to get my act together and take in some boots that needed some tlc. One was a simple stitching of a broken leather pull on a Sorel boot, which finally looks great again. The other was a pair of brown leather boots that I love but I've never been able to stretch enough to not make my calves feel like they are going to fall off from lack of blood flow. FYK looked at them and said they probably wouldn't be able to stretch them enough to be comfortable, but they could add elastic inserts. I got them back today and they look great. If you didn't see the boots before, you would assume I bought them like this. Just really nice craftsmanship and care. Oh, and they shined the boots up really nice too before giving them back :) Now I have no reason to take so long to get shoes fixed, because I will be happy to give Fix Your Kicks my repeat business. read more

In addition, this place is owned and operated by a young entrepreneur who works really hard. If you want your shoes cleaned, they're ok. But a reminder to take off the laces off your shoes. They will return your shoes with a different pair of laces. Took in my Nike because I had a coffee stain, a week later when I returned, the stain was gone. But my laces were different. Waste of time if you're just gonna keep the laces. read more

I want this place to get as much business as possible, so they can survive and thrive and I can keep taking my shoes here! I had some older (but not beaten) dress shoes whose stitching had come out on one side, letting water in and inviting more decay. Not only did josh fix them perfectly, he walked me through exactly how he was going to do it -- now, see, I'm going to put a small piece of leather here, then stitch this to this, so that when this pulls, it keeps this part nice and tight, etc. etc. It was a really nice above-and-beyond bit of customer service. Just got a couple new pairs of shoes, and I might just bring 'em in to see if he can do a nice waterproofing job on them. Highly recommended. read more

Brought shoes to get fixed here at Fix Your Kicks. Everything was fine until I went to pick up my shoes and I waited until open time to head over, which is posted that it is 9 am. However, at 9:15 am when I arrived to the shop it was not open. I called and texted the number, but no answer. Got a response later that day stating they had to close down to go buy supplies. I don't mind contributing to the neighborhood, particularly when they receive encouragement by social media to support local. But one rule of thumb about succesful business deals, respect people's time. I waited almost an hour outside hoping someone would come and knowing I would not have time to come back any time soon. If you're open at certain times then honor that time to your costumers. Good luck! read more

I'm thoroughly impressed with this place. I brought in a pair of shoes and wanted a lift of an inch on one of them (my legs are disparate). The makers of the shoe literally told me that nobody would want to do the lift. They added the lift, tapered it to be a bit bigger at the heel, a bit smaller at the ball, and sanded down the extra material to be flush with the sole. I wish I could show a picture of this quality work they did because that's the only real way to demonstrate how good they are. read more

Read great reviews so decided to bring a pair of my husband's favorite pair of shoes to get cleaned. Took about two weeks which was not an issue. When my husband went in to pick up his shoes he notices something was wrong with the shoe. The shoelaces on his shoe was not the original laces. The laces were changed and wasn't told to my husband. When my husband asked for his laces he was told they were damaged so they were thrown out. When the shoe was dropped off for cleaning there was nothing wrong with the laces. The laces that were put on the shoe didn't even match the shoe. If the laces were truly damaged why not keep them and show them to the customer as proof. To solve the problem of the incorrect shoelace my husband was told to pick a shoe lace from a pile of laces. My husband had to pick the closet lace to the original pair which still looks nothing like his original laces. The cleaning of the shoe was not the issue. It was the fact that the laces were so called damaged and if it wasn't for my husband noticing his shoes were off he was going to walk out the shop without being informed of the mishap that happened. read more

Great work and service. They fixed two pairs of my dress shoes. One had bad scratches that they buffed out and repainted to match the original color perfectly. The other was beaten up pretty badly, and they made them look like new and ordered leather shoelaces to match the originals which snapped. I'm so excited to have a high quality shoe repair in Lincoln Square. He cleaned my beige patten leather heals amazingly well (others did not), replaced the elastic on the buckle and replaced the heal taps. He also cleaned my uggs. I've been so impressed I am having him stretch my competitive ice skates. The business owner is polite and hard working. Mad props to him for starting his own business at such a young age. read more
