Did a perfect job. Had 2 new pairs of leather shoes from Paris. They recommended putting non-slip protection on shoes before I wire them. They have literally resolved so many issues with both shoes and bags for me. Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton etc. The shoes ALWAYS look legitimately BRAND NEW once completed. Huge fan of this establishment! The owner is always so sweet to me and does an amazing job with anything I ask him to do. I've had him resole leather boots and clean them after harsh Chicago winters. He has also shortened the heels and placed protective covering on the bottom of my Christian Louboutin shoes so they are a bit sturdier when I walk. This was my first time at Clybourn Cobbler, I specifically came here based on positive Yelp reviews and I'm so happy I came! I dropped off my favorite pair of black leather boots to Enzo. After the past two winters in Chicago my poor boots have taken a beating. The heels were completely worn down, soles were torn and the bottom half was covered in salt stains. Enzo worked magic on my shoes! I picked them up today and they literally look brand new. Both shoes were resoled and he had to construct a new wedge, both shoes were also cleaned an polished for 90.00. I felt this price was fair based on the construction he had to do. I definitely will be coming back with a few other pairs of shoes. My shoes were ready for pick up in less than a week. read more

I have this one pair of boots that I wear almost everyday. They're your trusty black never go out of style boots. Well since I wear these bad boys everyday they were screaming for help...... They were falling apart on me. So I panicked and started looking for shoe repair places. I found this place and they were able to fix my heel which the kinda was breaking off and they were also able to fix the tip of my boots which were very scrapped. I am a shoe person. That said, I wear my favorites into the ground. When I thought some of my shoes were beyond repair after one too many nights out, I brought them here in desperation. He fixed them all and made them good as new. He just recently did a repair for me on a shoe where the heel totally broke off! (I guess the shank was broken.. who knew what a shank was?) He repairs shoes to perfection for a great price. Unlike Mia M, I have never been asked to pay anything more than the original quote. They also have the best hours of any cobbler in LP-- open until 6 or later M-Sat. I highly recommend them. FYI they are inside another shoe store called Battaglia, so don't think you've missed them-- they're in the back of the shop! read more

As an update to my previous review (from almost a year ago): I handed the Clybourn Cobbler their toughest test yet (from me) in May, when I dropped off five pairs of shoes in various states of disrepair one Saturday. They told me all five pairs would be ready in a week, and they were. These guys continue to be both efficient and effective - a nice combo. read more

I am a cobbler snob, I will admit it. I am very particular about my repairs and I am very knowledgeable about the tools and techniques to get the right results. I am new to Chicago and was VERY nervous about taking my brand new boots in for a major change. I dropped them off and even called back to make sure I gave the right directions. I was a little bummed when I went to pick them up and they weren't ready because I couldn't make it back to the shop for 3 weeks due to work hours/being out of town. I explained the problem and low and behold...they offered to drop them off at my work. Seriously? What kind of company does that anymore? AMAZING! I don't know if the Clybourn Cobbler needs yet another positive review, but considering I left this place fully satisfied, ready to burst into songs of joy, I figured I may as well add my two cents. I brought in my beloved grey Frye boots the other day with one heel IN SHAMBLES and the other not far behind. I was scared. I love them so much and didn't want to entrust them to just anybody. At the same time, paying to ship them to the Frye company for repairs seemed crazy. So I took a chance and left my babies with a kindly European gent, worried that mine would be a horror story compared to everyone else's. He assured me they'd be as good as new, and he absolutely delivered! They are gorgeous. The heels are sleek and sturdy again, the sole was reinforced, and they were even polished. They look exactly as they did when I first bought them, and I could not be more pleased. Go to this place! Give them your business! read more

I brought in a pair of Cole Haan boots that needed cleaned and resoled. I had tripped over a stoop and scuffed the heck out of them, and wasn't expecting them to be able to fix that. I just picked up my boots and they look amazing. I've had them cleaned two other times at other shoe repair stores, Enzo and his group far exceeded expectations I had based on previous experience with the other shoe repair stores. Seeing Kristin C's review on this place enticed me to give it a try! It's also a lot closer to where I live, and the $8 charge to fix my worn down heels is quite a deal. I like how they also sell shoes here, but they are out of my price range - even the ones that are on sale. It's alright if you are looking to kill time and want to browse around. They also sell men's shoes here, and they have more of a European style and look to them which makes them unique. I wasn't in a hurry to get my shoes, but I did get them on the day they said they would have them. They look really good, but the real test will be when I wear them since I have gotten heels replaced before when they've come off after a few times of wearing them after I have worn them. Enzo was able to do some MAJOR work on my favorite pair of fall boots. For $60 he conditioned them, added on new wedge heels, and sewed up a tear in the toe. Definitely worth it for a pair of boots I was not ready to part with. He even put a better traction sole in the bottom so I don't slip and slide all over the ice this winter. Friendly staff. $10 makes your high-heeled boots feel brand new. They shine 'em up real nice too, and when I asked the gentleman what they used to clean the salt and snow off, he said simply "White Vinegar!" I use that trick at home now! I've also had them re-attach straps and resole shoes. My beloved cowboy boots are going to need some love pretty soon, and there is nowhere else I'd rather take them. Four stars instead of five, because once time I dropped off 3 pairs of shoes and was told to come back 10 days later. When I came back they hadn't been able to get to the third pair and I had to return a week later. But, when I think about the large number of people who survive in this world without ANY shoes, I tell myself the shut-the-hell-up and wait. read more

This place is great! Its stowed away in the back of a store, they do amazing work. Re-soling, cleaning, polish and new bottoms. All their work is perfect and they are extremely efficient and trusting. They are not a cheap place to go, but their work well exceeds the price you pay! Took my leather Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots after two years of "loving" them a little too much, resulting in scratches, fading and peeling rubber sole. This place is great until they screw up. I brought my new bag to have the leather strap shortened. I'd been here before to have something else done and I was satisfied with the item. At first I ignored the horizontal cut on the leather, but I was in horror when I picked up a CRACKED leather strap after they "fixed" it. When I pointed out the crack, Enzo wasn't sorry at all. He roles his eyes at me, gave me attitude, and looked to his assistant as if I was a nuisance, when THEY botched my strap!!! They claimed it wasn't their fault, they didn't do it, even though he admitted to the cracking being their fault when he said the leather cracked due to them folding the leather over to restitch it. He blamed the "dry leather" and said there was nothing they could do. I paid $25 cash upon drop-off (too bad they're cash only, because I would've called the bank in a heartbeat to refuse the payment), and I demanded at least a partial refund. He gave me $12.50 back. I'm $120 + $12.50 out now because my strap costs $120 separately, if I were to purchase a new one. I couldn't believe his poor service and attitude towards something he did wrong. He brought out the Hispanic repair guy, who also didn't apologize or show any empathy or remorse. He looked at it and said there was nothing they could do. Before I left, because the conversation wasn't going anywhere, I told Enzo to imagine himself in my position. What if he dropped off his item, his wife's bag, or his daughter's bag to have fixed, and it came back CRACKED. He continued to shake his head and roll his eyes at me. I should've demanded a full refund because now I'll either have to purchase a new strap or have someone else fix their mistake. This place is awful and absolutely ridiculous. He ruined my bag and a buyer-consumer relationship with poor workmanship and horrible attitude. read more

I usually can't stand shopping. Too many decisions and I make myself sick trying to find the right thing for the right price. My experience at Clybourn Cobbler could not have been easier and more enjoyable! I walked in to find a pair of shoes for my wedding and walked out with a pair that I love! Hmm... I dropped off my beloved flat, black knee-high boots for a complete resoling since I'd literally worn them clean through. Never done THAT to a pair of shoes before, but since holes in the soles of my shoes will just not do, I had to have them resoled. Clybourn Cobbler has good hours (meaning they're open past 5:30pm during the weekend and on Sundays), accepts forms of payment other than only cash and boasts decent reviews, so I figured it would be a solid place for a reboot on my boots. While I appreciate the very cool Euro vibe happening here with the Italian guy calling me 'bella' and actually saying, "Ciao!" when I left without a hint of irony, I'm not sure this place is all it's cracked up to be. Here are the problems. 1. While the main concern was a resole, the elastic on the sides of my boots were also looking a little worse for the wear, so I asked them to quote fixing it, too. I didn't hear back from them for over a week. A WEEK for a quote? That's too long. 2. Think waiting a week for a quote is too long? It takes longer to actually get your shoes back. The cobbler told me they'd be ready in a week. He was wrong. It took more like 2 weeks to have my shoes repaired. If you're in a time crunch, this is not your spot. 3. Kind of expensive. It set me back 40 bones to have my shoes resoled, which I think is a bit on the high side. I paid it because I LOVE my boots and quite honestly, they'd been held hostage at Clybourn Cobbler for long enough and I just wanted them back already. He also quoted me an additional $40 to have the elastic fixed. Since it was not crucial at the time, I passed on that repair. 4. Perhaps not the best craftsmanship. One of the heels on my boots had been very scuffed and was showing white where the black used to be due to what I can only imagine is my semi-abusive behavior towards my shoes. After one wearing, the white scuff is already showing again. I'm not sure if cheap materials were used to fix it or I'm just that hard on my kicks, but I'm guessing its cheap materials. Not a stellar kick-fixing experience, ya'll. I'd look elsewhere for shoe nirvana. read more

I usually go to Gus New Quality Shoe Repair but they were closed on a Sunday at the time so I decided to go to Clybourns based on the Yelp reviews. I went to drop in a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes that I bought from their Vegas Boutique. The man proceeded to tell me how they are nice shoes but overpriced and the replacement heels it came with sucks and how I should buy theirs if I get them replaced. Then he kept me there for about 30 minutes to try and up sell me some of his shoes in the store connected to the repair store. I kept on trying to leave but he kept in insisting that the shoes were of better or equal quality and cheaper. Whatever wasted some of my time but I wasnt in a rush that day no big deal. When I came back to pick them up, there was a pen mark on sole were the red vibram sole protectors ended. For those of you who do not know, Christian Louboutins are know for their red soles, thats why people get them protected. Whats the point of protecting the sole if you ruin a pair of $800 shoes with a big blue pen mark? I tried disputing with the store but they refused to refund me. There goes a pair of CL ruined. I don't know if this store is good with other types of shoes but do NOT bring your christian louboutins here. read more

When I picked up the two pairs of shoes I took here I left feeling ripped off and angry. When I dropped off my shoes I asked for a quote, and he said "$20 for re-heeling". So when I went to pick up my shoes, I was expecting to pay $40 for both pairs of shoes. He then told me I needed to fork over $80! He told me they were re-heeled as men's shoes and that would cost more... um, okay, because they're a pair of women's size 7.5 boots and delicate flats... I'm not paying more for that. When I asked him why he quoted me $20, he pulled out a rate card, and pointed to the price of re-heeling, which was listed as $38. Then tried to tell me that the rate card was from last year and his prices went up. Um, yeah, it's October, and I highly doubt the cobbler works on a fiscal year, so that's just unacceptable experience of lying to my face number two. Overall, I give this man poor marks on being a good business man and managing a customer's expectations. When you say $20, you better mean $20. There are other cobblers in this city that I've been to and have had much better experience - Gus' on Clark & Fullerton and Dearborn Shoe Repair. The shoes looked like they will hold up, but overall I would suggest going elsewhere based on the sleaziness of the owner. read more

This is my go to shoe repair shop. They are a little pricey but the work they do is definitely worth the price. I have a pair of Michael Kors wedge sandals that I've worn a lot over three summers. They upper portion of the shoe has a canvas material that is actually woven. The seam separated and it appeared impossible to fix. I don't know how they did it but they fixed it. It happened again on the other shoe and they fixed it again. You cannot tell where they separated/where the fix is. Amazing job. read more

The horror story that led to this salvation goes like this: At a b-day party, the BF spilled RED WINE on my beautiful new cognac leather boots (literally the most expensive single clothing item i have ever dropped coin on)...there was serious freaking out. I read these reviews and checked this place out since it's in my 'hood anyway. Took 'em in, met the cute little man running the joint, and a few days later came back to pick up shiny, good-as-new (and leather-protected!!) boots. Also have to mention, he quoted me for the clean-up, and that's what I was charged, but he also fixed a little issue with the sole for free. Where do you get service like that anymore?? I took some boots that were delivered from London, unfortunately, they were really light. Not something that I would wear .. I took them in and the Cobbler knew the problem and although i wanted them darker, I didn't know what type of darker color I had wanted.. but wanted a Classic Color to them. He knew exactly what to do. These guys are OUTSTANDING!! ... their showroom of Expensive Italian shoes next door wish that you'd could buy every single pair. Their mens clothing line is top notch. I don't think that I could say enough about them. Their prices are very fair. If you have athletic calfs and do not want to wear grandma boots, you could invest in a pair of theirs and they custom make them for your legs and your feet. read more

I dropped them off on Friday and asked if I could pick them up on Monday because they are my only pair and it was no problem. I have not been spoiled by cobblers in the past. In dire need of new soles after a particularly bad resoling job at a rustic, family-owned cobbler last year, I dropped my boots off at this decidedly swankier business on a Sunday. They said it would be $25 and to come back on Wednesday to pick up my boots. Service was prompt, folks were kind, and my boots look beautiful! I think they actually replaced the 1/2 inch wooden heals on my boots, which admittedly I had kind of destroyed, and added a sturdy rubber sole with decent traction. I'm a happy camper. read more
