I am probably the annoying customer who reads every line of an estimate and asks what half the…read morewords mean. To their credit, nobody rushed me or acted irritated. They measured the roof while I was there, opened two areas to check for moisture, and showed me why another coating would not solve the problem. The replacement took four days and included removing the old material, correcting the slope near the drain, and rebuilding the hatch area. I received photos most evenings without having to request them. The dumpster pickup was late and cost us a parking space through the weekend. That part was aggravating, but it had nothing to do with the quality of the roof. The final price matched the proposal, and I understood what I was paying for.

Test openings found damp insulation beneath several older repair areas, indicating that the moisture had traveled farther than the visible stain suggested. The owner compared removing only the wet sections with replacing the complete roof. Because the existing modified-bitumen system was heavily patched and approaching the end of its service life, full replacement was selected. NY Roofing removed the old roof to the deck, deteriorated material around the hatch was replaced, and tapered insulation was added to improve movement toward the rear drain. A new two-ply modified-bitumen system was installed with fresh wall flashing and metal edges. Materials were lifted from the street during a restricted delivery window, while the neighboring roof and occupied rooms below received additional protection. The finished surface had a consistent slope instead of the shallow depressions that had formed around earlier patches. Following several rainstorms and one freeze-thaw cycle, the bedroom ceiling remained unchanged.

cry-baby and dishonest concrete contractor! got a high quote…read more$2300 from asad to replace two flags (squares) of a sidewalk in rockaway beach; insurance company requested the repair so just wanted to get it done asap. asad showed up a couple hours later than promised with his brand new red truck and 2 "assistants" from the home depot parking lot. using a little hand grinder (4") to cut the squares was the first hint that this job was not going to be done professionally! (i hired bricktech because a couple of weeks previously they had done a clean, quality job for my neighbor.) i asked asad to please use a larger grinder to properly cut the slab. i return from getting a coffee and asad's 2 "assistants" are packing the broken concrete of the original 5" slab into the flags that are about to be hand mixed and poured; i tell asad that the new slab he is installing can not be 2" thick and he should replace the original 5" slab with a 5" slab especially since it is a corner with a bus stop. asad suddenly says he can't do the job if i am not happy! i had zelled him $1150 (%50) as he started the job; as per our agreement. i ask asad why he is doing such a crappy, dishonest job for me when he recently did a nice job, up the block, for my neighbor. asad starts to cry and tells his 2 "assistants" to stop work and get back into the fancy new truck. wow! wow! i never met a cry-baby concrete contractor!! asad obviously embarrassed to tell his dad about his unprofessionalism has not reimbursed any part of the money. i really think asad is a spoiled child who just wants to drive an expensive new red truck but he does not know how to do his job. he is unprofessional and incompetent; i recommend working exclusively with his father or any other contractor. asad left me with a large 2 flag hole to fill at 3pm! luckily i was able to get a yard of premix delivered (whithin 1hr) and knew two guys who could help otherwise it would have been stressful! reimburse me what you owe. asad you are a dishonest person who needs to grow up!

I had been patching the problem areas myself for the last 10 years to keep it going. It was in good shape in the flat areas, well-draining areas, since a reflective coating was applied many years ago, but the joints and roof openings required annual observation/repair. Since it had many layers from the past (current code requires a limit of two layers, before a full tear-off is needed), was leaking, and noticeably sagging in the rear of the building due to some structural issue, I decided to do a full tear-off and replacement. It was difficult to find a company that did not want to just add another layer, but after talking to many contractors, I obtained 4 quotes for a full tear-off and rebuild. Verrazano's quote was near the lower end of the batch. I was impressed with the fact that during the initial visit, they were the only contractor that did not suggest a new layer. He suggested either an inexpensive spot repair to keep the existing roof going, or a full tear-off and rebuild to address the previous improper installation and the sagging section, which he said was likely due to a broken joist (a common problem in flat roofs on older homes). Two weeks later, they showed up on time (8 am), as planned, and completely removed the old layers and installed foam board insulation and the underlayer in one day. All debris was sent down a conveyor attached to the front of the house. I had concerns about debris removal since during recent roof tear-offs on my block I've seen debris either thrown off the roof into the courtyard below, or carried through the house. I found neither of those options acceptable for my work. On the second day, they added the final roof layer, re-installed two existing skylights, removed a sagging rear fascia and replaced it with a new gutter, properly flashed all openings and completely cleaned up. All of the workers were respectful and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to refer them for any job, large or small.

It was decent, but not perfect. The staff was nice enough and the visit went fine, though a few…read morethings could be more polished or better organized.
