My wife and I found a home in our "dream neighborhood," but we wanted to make some upgrades in the kitchen, living room, and master bathroom. Over 3-4 months, we did some major work (i.e. "take it to the studs" in most rooms) and Steve got it completed on time and on budget -- with many compliments from our friends and family. Before the renovation, we met with several different contractors that provided a series of construction plans and budgets. Steve did that too, but he offered so much more. Most of all, we were impressed by Steve's attention to detail and his keen eye for architecture. For example, most contractors "eye balled" the room measurements. Not Steve. On his first visit, he took measurements of every room and could immediately work with us on room design (or re-design) that helped us envision the yet-to-be-completed project. In addition, other contractors "suggested" that we hire an architect to help with the plans. But the bonus of working with Steve was that his architecture background gave us a "two in one" that could help us envision how we would utilize the house (i.e. you'll want the sink here; the oven here; the pantry here; a door here; etc). In my opinion, this was a huge asset to our remodel plan as we were able to review (and modify) building plans before we started work -- and Steve had some excellent input about "the flow" of our certain rooms in our future layout. Before selecting Steve, we spoke to about 5-7 people that worked with Steve on prior projects and they all offered glowing recommendations of him -- and his work. During the renovation, Steve worked hard to keep his sub-contractors on schedule and routinely updated us on their progress. If we had a modification to our plans, Steve was always willing to find a solution. He also worked closely with us to select light fixtures, cabinet designs, and granite slabs. For other parts, he worked with my wife to "create" her dream kitchen and they would routinely share photos from magazines or the internet so he could best understand what we were "looking for." He did some major work. New hardwood floors that look excellent. A new "rain shower" with a built-in bench that my wife loves. Expanding our kitchen by moving the water and A/C to the attic that allowed us to put an island in the kitchen. Removing a massive (truly massive) fireplace and installing a natural gas fireplace. This was not an easy job and his work was excellent. Now that our remodel project is complete, we can offer our highest recommendation for Steve and Watermark. We are truly happy with the final outcome and it was not a surprising result given Steve's hard work and incredible attention to detail that we now have our "dream home."

I called again on two separate occasions, and no one ever seems to answer. What appealed to me about this company was the before and after photos posted by another Yelper. I'm wanting to change the layout of my kitchen, in addition to other extensive interior remodeling. With the architectural background this company has, I thought they would be the best choice. It's just unfortunate that they have poor communication with new/potential clients. This review would have been a 4 or even 4.5 star review through almost the entire project, but it…read morekind of fell apart at the end. Let's start at the beginning. Richard and Dallas Home Renovations is a solid contractor that can do a variety of projects to a perfectly acceptable level of quality. We hired them for a shower redo - this was a tile custom shower down to the studs. From early on, Richard came in with detailed email quotes that he regularly updated as we made decisions, and even as we progressed through the actual work and materials got locked in. From start to finish, the cost for labor never budged. I found his communication on pricing refreshing and comforting, especially as we opted for the strategy of purchasing our own plumbing and tile materials. Richard is a very busy man. His company appears to have a great deal of business, which is good for him. That does mean that he tends to rush around - he would appear and disappear in the blink of an eye. One time I was literally talking to him about something and he turned to follow one of his contractors out the door to ask him a question, and after a minute I looked and his truck was gone. He's not being rude, he's just busy - I learned to be comfortable with this. His workers did a very nice job on the project itself. As I work from home I was able to supervise much of the work and I could tell that they were doing a good job with an attention to detail. They handled problems efficiently and effectively and I've definitely seen worse tile work. In the course of the project they also installed a new recessed light fixture overhead and retrofitted an existing one to match, and did a great job at an excellent price. Most of the time, I was able to communicate just fine with the workers in English. We rarely had challenges. Richard did a little belatedly offer to send a licensed plumber and a licensed electrician, but assured me that the work was very basic and that his men were experienced. They did indeed do the work just fine. A couple of times the work was delayed or done out of order because we had a hard time coordinating with Richard to get the right supplies on hand at the right time. His workers occasionally had to re-do things. I chalk this up to Richard's busyness - he procrastinated picking up a contractor-grade accent tile that we had picked out, and then found it out of stock. It also took a while to meet him at a friend's place to get a remnant stone piece for a shelf, and so the guys had to cut a hole in their work when it finally showed up. In the end, I think these only delayed the finish of the project by a day, if even. Things only went meaningfully downhill at the very end of the job. I have no personal experience with tile work, unlike some other areas, so I did not catch them making a mistake in the grouting. We picked out a single grout color for the entire shower, and they got it in unsanded for the walls and sanded for the floor. The floor grout appears to have ended up the wrong color (much too light) - a bit mixed in a couple of plastic cups indicated this after the fact. Plus, the guys failed to properly seal it. I have since learned that you have to let grout dry for 3 days before sealing it or using the shower - this appears to be standard industry practice. They put down the sealer after a little less than 24 hours and told us we could use the shower immediately. The floor grout then dried to a patchwork of different colors. They came back and scraped some of the spots and regrouted, but the patchwork of colors remained. The grout absorbs water and darkens substantially in patches, then slowly dries throughout the day, but never fully gets to the same color. We'd be okay with the wrong color if it just were all the same color, but we tried showering in the other bathroom two mornings in a row to see if we could get it to dry to a solid and it never did. It may be beyond salvaging now. After a couple of attempts, Richard has not made a move. We originally finished the job on 1/14, then brought up the grout on 1/20. He finally came on 2/3 to look at it. On 2/24 he finally came back to look at it again and scheduled his guys to come look at it, but cancelled the next day and today it's 3/16 and I haven't heard anything. I think this is a wrap for us - I'll probably pick up a dremel tool and re-do the entire floor grout myself. In the end, I think that you could feel confident calling Richard to come in and look at a job and bid on it. Go in with your eyes open and knowing what to expect and I think you'll get solid quality at an excellent price.

Greg responded quickly over Yelp messages and arrived when he said he would. Unfinished Work, Poor Craftsmanship, and a False Lien Threat…read more I hired Ybarra Professional Builders to complete work in my home, including renovating the upstairs bathroom. While the project was technically completed, the quality was completely unacceptable. The bathroom sink leaks, and the grout in both the shower and floor is already coming up. I brought in licensed professionals to inspect the issues, and they confirmed the floor was improperly installed and the sink was not installed correctly either. Despite these clear defects, the company has refused to return and fix the problems. To make matters worse, I just received a Notice of Intent to File a Mechanic's Lien claiming I owe them $16,016.00--which is outrageous and completely false. They included charges for services they never performed, such as: Cabinet resurfacing (they did nothing to my kitchen cabinets) Interior painting (they partially painted my living room, which I already paid for--and even that was incomplete) I've kept all of my receipts and documented what was paid. I paid for the bathroom remodel, but it was done poorly and without accountability. There is absolutely no way they did $16,000 worth of work in my home. This feels like a scare tactic to get paid for work they didn't do or didn't do correctly. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They do not stand behind their work, and now I'm dealing with legal threats for charges that are clearly inflated and inaccurate. If you're considering using them--think twice and document everything. This experience has been stressful, costly, and incredibly disappointing.

I was approached by Ethan who was charismatic, personable and seemed to care about the project I was interested in. I wanted pavers on my driveway and a new concrete patio. Everything seemed to go well, perhaps taking a little longer than expected (but that was ok). The trouble started when the work was done. The ground settled and a tiny crack formed in the concrete. I contacted them in April to discuss the crack and puddling on the paver driveway. We got no response until May. Ethan finally said he would send someone to look at it. They came and within a couple of weeks two workers were here to fix the problems. Unfortunately, they made a bigger mess and eye sore than the original damage. I texted Ethan again with pictures of the "corrected" work and has since not heard from him or any representative from the Ybarra Professionals. I am very frustrated and disappointed that this happened. The only reason I am writing a public review is with the hope that Ybarra Professionals respond to my many calls and text messages.
